Charleston Buzz Kill is the second in a series and has a great book cover and description. But although I was enticed to read it, once I started the story did not hold me. I think it was the characters and the style of dialogue used in this series as I read the excerpt of another series written by the author and was instantly much more engaged in that series.

I think for this book, it leans more towards a diverse male audience, who enjoy more plainly written, gritty stories.

I wanted to love it but just couldn't.

This story continues the events off Nick Janzek. a Homicide Detective in Charleston, S.C. Nick becomes involved in the investigation of the murder of a Television celebrity. While trying to find the killer, he also gets brought into 3 other cases that wind up being all inter-related. In his search for the killer along with his partner Rhett, he examines the individuals who are portrayed on the tv series of the murdered man.

While called upon to look into another event that occurred at the "Boys Club" he stumbles upon a clue which eventually leads him to various killers.

If you want to find out how the "Boys Club" came into play and how those other individuals which added to the information, then you need to read this book which I highly recommend, you won't be disappointed. The ending clears everything up.

Charleston Buzz Kill by Tom Turner – 5 Stars
Publisher: Tribeca Press
ISBN: 9781670793072

This is an intelligent mystery with a light side. The plot doesn’t slow. Characters are interesting, realistic and often quirky. The dialogue, especially between the lead detectives, is bright and witty. It pokes fun at the rich and pretentious citizens of Charleston without being nasty. This is the second book in the Charleston series and like the Palm Beach series by Tom Turner, is absolutely enjoyable.

Strong main character and backups. Good conversation banter. The story keeps you reading to get the answers to the questions that keep popping up, and there are a lot! Really like the descriptions of the town and the atmosphere of Charleston as the story progresses. Highly recommend this series and hope for many more books in it.

This is the 2nd book in the series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is just a good police procedural and I'm looking forward to reading more in the series. Charleston is a great setting and l loved the characters. Murder and reality TV make this a fun read.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Tribeca Press for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. First time reading this author. This is a police procedural/mystery? I found it interesting. Voice felt different, maybe because I have been reading a lot of female perspective and this is the male perspective. That sounds horrible but I don't mean it in a bad way. It reads well as a stand alone, although I didn't really understand his relationship with Sheila. Overall a good read. 3.5 stars I would read another book in this ssriez.

This is a good procedural detective story. It is the second book in a series but works as a stand alone It begins with the murder of one of the stars of a sleazy reality show where everyone is boozed up, sexed up and constantly bickering. Violent Crimes Unit detectives Nick Janzek and Delvin Rhett begin investigating and pretty soon they have lots of suspect that all seem to have alibis. Meanwhile they are called to a local brothel with scholarshiped college girls. One of Charleston’s fat cats has almost strangled a girl during sex. Bodies begin piling up and Janacek must figure out who is behind it all and how to get charges to stick on a very influential member of Charleston society. Overall, this is a good mystery. I didn’t really like any of the characters much but I did enjoy reading about many places in and around the Carolinas. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC In exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
