Hong Kong, 1950. Dr Rowena Rossiter works at the Victoria House, a clinic she started herself, and she’s an obstetrician. She was imprisoned by the Japanese army during WW II, her fiancée Connor O’Connor was also a prisoner of war and he understands what she went through. Connor wants to get married, he loves Rowena’s seven year daughter Dawn and want's to add to their family. Dawn attends boarding school in Hong Kong, Rowena feels she’s safer at school and she still worries about a dangerous man from her past.

Rowena’s offered a job in Korea, they need a female doctor at a clinic run by nuns in Seoul, she can understand why and she accepts the new position. When she arrives, Rowena discovers she’s been used, by American Army Colonel Warrington, he has sent her to bring his estranged daughter Sheridan home and it doesn’t go as planned. Korea's on the brink of war, Rowena finds herself caught up in a violent conflict again and she has to use all of her past experience and survival skills.

Summer of the Three Pagodas is a story about a brave and very resilient doctor Rowena Rossiter, she never gives up, she will do anything to be reunited with Dawn and Connor in Hong Kong again and start a blended family together. I have read the first book in the series Tears of the Dragon and Summer of the Three Pagodas continues on with Rowena’s and Connor’s love story, thanks to NetGalley for my copy and three stars from me.

I have only read 1/3 of the book and I haven't been feeling overly connected with the characters and story. I did find out that their is another book before this that explains the events leading up to this one so I will most likely try and read that one before returning to try this one again.

I was attracted by the cover and the blurb sounded interesting. Unfortunately I couldn't connect to the characters and the story fell flat.
Not my cup of tea.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
