My Kind of Cowboy is the first R.C. Ryan book I've read, but it won't be the last. I enjoyed it very much. It was well written, had characters that were enjoyable and the story line kept me engaged.

Brand Merrick is the oldest of the Merrick great-grandchildren. When he fell off of his horse and injured his leg, he cut his physical therapy short because he didn't want his great-grandfather, grandfather, father and brothers to have to pick up his slack. While he wasn't totally healed, he's now paying the price and his grandmother has taken notice and taken things into her own hands by hiring a physical therapist to help him out. Something Brand is less than thrilled about.

Avery Grant lives is Michigan, but works for a group that lends out their physical therapists when needed, so she's headed to Wyoming to try her hand at helping Brand heal up his leg. Avery is looking forward to the new surroundings since she has a very strained relationship with her father and she's been receiving threatening texts, but the local authorities don't think it's anything to worry about.

As Avery starts her time at the ranch, she finds that Brand is stubborn and that she's going to have her work cut out for her, but she's up to the challenge. She isn't afraid to help with chores and that helps to endear her to the family and Brand begins to take notice too. Slowly he realizes that she's there to help him and he allows her to start the therapy. Will there be more that develops between them?

I really enjoyed this entire family and the interactions between all of the generations. I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series!

Wow what a great start to the new series. Brand and Avery had absolutely no idea what was ahead of them on the way to their final HEA

Entertaining story, interesting characters and storyline makes this a good read. Avery flies out to Wyoming from Michigan to personalize PT for an injured wrangler. Brand doesn't believe he needs any help, he's doing fine even if he has a limp, he's tough. But Avery and her magical touch not only help his limp but also extend to his family. There's sweet romance, passion and suspenseful twists, it all adds up to a very interesting read.

This was super cute and charming! Thank you to Netgalley and Forever for sending me this one! It was extremely cute and it definitely gave me all the country, cowboy, sweet suspenseful small town romance I was looking for! I will say it did take some time to get into, this family is HUGE and it took in a little bit to settle in and remember who was who., which sounds so weird and it could have been my personal headspace when starting the book, but it did take me time to get into which is why I knocked it down a star. Once the romance really kicks in between Brand and Avery, that’s when I really fell into this world and I really grew to love the whole family, especially towards that fast paced ending! I loved the suspense aspect, I was at the edge of my seat reading the buildup and those last few chapters! If you’re in the mood to get swept into a southern suspenseful romance with that sweet family feel, then this is a great one to pick up!

I am a fan of R.C. Ryan and have been reading her cowboy romances for years but I do have to say that her books are bit formulaic—each series has a similar premise: three male brothers or cousins who live and work on the family ranch in either Wyoming or Montana, a mystery underlying the whole series with each book having its own independent bit of suspense, and a handful of side characters. To a point it does feel like you’re reading the same book because there are so many familiar elements.

That being said, I still find myself invested in each new set of characters and their unique personalities and traits and I did enjoy this book. She truly does have a skill for crafting amazing close knit families, full of people you wish were real. The Merrick family was no different. I loved the family dynamics and watching Avery interact with them and slowly become a part of the family.

There was an instant attraction between Avery and Brand but the romance was a bit of a slow burn but very passionate once it got going. There’s a bit of intrigue to the story that takes it beyond a simple cowboy romance because of some trouble that follows Avery to Montana. Turns out she has a stalker and who that stalker ends up being I did not see coming.

If you enjoy sexy and stubborn cowboys, strong and independent heroines, a hint of suspense and a heartfelt romance, you will like this book.

Brand Maverick, cowboy/rancher always on the go but when he is injured and needs therapy he is determined to do it on his own except that’s not possible if he’s constantly helping on the ranch. So his grandmother decides to prove him wrong and show him that therapy will help his injury…except everyone thinks the therapist is a man.

Avery Grant, physical therapist, city girl leaves home after a threat to her life and takes a job in Montana. She is not prepared for the hostility of Brand or his great grandfather but is determined to show him she can help him repair his injury. Only problem is…can she keep it on a professional level or will her heart get in the way? Only time will tell…

Brand was injured, and has trouble getting over the pain in his leg. His grandma hired a physical therapist, which made him upset. As a man's man, he doesn't want to be soft. However, when Avery shows up she gets under his skin and the sparks fly. A good romance set near the Grand Tetons, and a mystery stalker thrown in as well. I liked that it added a bit to the story, but wasn't dominant throughout. It was easy to figure out who the bad person was, but good to see the HEA. Highly recommend this one, and hope the author plans on telling the other brothers' stories. Hard to put this one down.

This is the first story in the Wranglers of Wyoming series.
What I liked best in this romance, was not only the introduction to the Merrick multi-generation family, but the descriptions of the beauty and uniqueness of Wyoming.
The story centers around rancher Brand Merrick, the Merricks family oldest great-grandson , and physical therapist Avery Grant, who has come to Wyoming to help Brand .
Though there was some action towards the end, though not memorable, it was a low key, sweet romance to be enjoyed in an afternoon of leisure.
For me, it was more of a 3.5 stars story. That said, I look forward to the stories of the other Merrick brothers and catch up with the rest of the family.
I was entrusted this copy by Netgalley and Forever. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This book was not what I expected. It was really good. Brand and Avery have dynamic chemistry and it makes the magic of the story better. There's also some surprising suspense as well. A really great book and cant wait to the rest of this series.

Thank you Netgalley, the author and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have recently been in a trend where I have been reading tons of cowboy romances. Well R. C. Ryan does an standout job with not only the romance, but with the vivid imagery of the picturesque landscape of the Tetons.

While Avery Grant's arrival is expected, she is a shock to the entire town when they were expecting a man. Big, bad Brand Merrick has not interest whatsoever in first off admitting his injury isn't healed, secondly taking time from the ranch for physical therapy.

Brand is stubborn and Avery is tenacious. I loved that she was so interested in the family, the ranch, and the beauty of the mountains and not all bossy with her approach. Brand is broody, but charming in his own way and soon can't resist the likes of Avery Grant, nor can she resist him.

This story has a suspenseful twist that just adds to the magic of the story. I enjoyed this entire family and can't wait for the next book of the series.

The Merrick family took a serious hit when a fire took one of their lives. Years later three young boys now adults have navigated their lives without their mother to become capable adults. Brand is the oldest and takes after his father in being a serious rancher always on the go. When a nasty fall injures his leg and it's not healing fast enough his grandmother find a physical therapist to come in a help. He's not happy about it and figures he can be surly enough to run them off. Avery Grant has been trying to measure up for her dad her whole life. Being a physical therapist is what she's decided is her dream. Not what her dad wants but she's going to do it anyway. She arrives at the Merrick ranch to find a less than enthusiastic Brand but she's not going to give up. Avery is also getting away from a mysterious threat in Michigan where she's from but follows her to Wyoming. Love these types of books where there is all this extended family. The Merricks are a wonder multi generation family that add so much to this story. Brand is this hard ass with a soft side. It takes a bit of coaxing for Avery to get it out of him but it's there. The more time they spend together the more they don't want to be apart. Avery's time has a expiration date in Wyoming. Once the threat takes center stage at the end of the book it was easy to know who the bad guy was but i was on the edge of my seat wondering how it was going to play out. My Kind of Cowboy was a pleasure to read from page one. I can't see where the author takes us in the next book in this series.

My Kind of Cowboy
Series: Book 1 of Wranglers of Wyoming
Review: 4 stars
Thank you to the publisher for providing the ARC through NetGalley for review.

I will be honest and say that this book was almost a DNF for me. For the first few chapters we are introduced to the Merrick family, and they are a big one. I felt a little overwhelmed with the introduction of so many characters and learn their backstory. I wanted for the MCs to spend more time together as of chapter one. Lol! I'm glad I continued reading it, because I ended up really enjoying it. I loved all the characters, especially Brand's brothers. They made for some funny scenes for when Brand and Avery wanted to have some alone time.
Brand and Avery were wonderful. She arrives at this ranch to serve as his physical therapist and he's not having it. He's determined that he doesn't need the help but Avery had the patience of a saint and knew how to work with him. It is while they spend time together that they develop feelings for each other.
I liked how the author added a little suspense to their story. Avery is being stalked and she thinks that because she's all the way in Wyoming things will stop. She was wrong. The last few chapters were very fast paced and I loved how all the family came together to help her out. They had accepted her as one of their own.

This was a great story and I'm hoping the next in the series are about the two brothers and I'm hoping for Liz to have a HEA too!

When Brand Merrick injures his leg, his grandmother insists on hiring a physical therapist. Avery Grant is hired and arrives at the Merrick Ranch and it is a surprise to all that Avery is a female. She is used to people underestimating her and knows that she can help Brand recover. He soon begins to realize that Avery knows what she is doing, but how will he deal with his attraction to her? When Avery finds herself interested in Brand, as well as his warm and loving extended family, she knows it will be difficult to return to her life in the city. Avery felt threatened before she left home and thought she would get away from the threats, but what if they have followed her to Wyoming? I really enjoyed this heartwarming family story that will make you wish you were living on the Merrick Ranch. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. Sometimes you know you're going to love a book from the first page and this was no exception. It had all the elements I love in a cowboy fiction - a bit of heat, the strong male lead, the confident female lead, excellent backup characters, picturesque setting, stalwart family loyalties, a dash of suspense, and an overall feel-good story. The romance wasn't all flash - it was a slow build-up, and then holy smokes, someone grab a fire hose! Overall, I truly enjoyed all the aspects of this novel as an everyday escape - easy to read and easy to get lost in! Storytelling at it's best with likable characters, a bit of drool-worthiness, and a happy ending. Can't wait to read other titles in this series.

My kind of cowboy,is a nice Sunday afternoon read. Come along as a city slicker finds her cowboy and family to love

My kind of cowboy was the perfect escapism read while in COVID isolation. I grew up on a cattle ranch and holidays last year found me hiking in Wyoming. We enjoyed putting city folks through their paces who tend to think ranch work is easygoing.
RC Ryan did a fantastic jobs with the characters- expect for Renee and Trace. The triangle of Avery/Renee/Trace just didn’t work for me. Plus having Avery’s father show up with the authorities felt forced and a little too convenient.
I enjoyed the title and I look forward to reading the books focused on Brand’s brothers which I expect will follow this one. Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy.

My Kind of Cowboy was a good book that I read all in one day. I thought it was well-written, had enjoyable characters, had a good story and was set in picturesque Wyoming. I felt like I was living on the ranch alongside the Merrick family.

Brand Merrick was the oldest great-grandson who worked the family ranch. After a fall off a horse, he cut short his recovery time simply because he felt he was needed back at work. Soon his grandmother began to notice he had a limp and appeared to be in pain (although he wouldn't ever admit to it). She secretly hired a physical therapist (Avery) to come live with them for 6 weeks to aid in his recovery. Brand was NOT happy to hear about the physical therapy plan and he was already dreaming up ways he could get out of it. Everyone assumed Avery was a man so imagine their surprise when a very female Avery showed up for six weeks of therapy.

Avery was from Michigan and needed a break from her life - her mother had died when she was young leaving Avery's father as her only family member, her father became very detached and married to his job virtually ignoring Avery and she was being threatened by an anonymous stalker. She figured a temporary move to Wyoming was just what she needed to feel alive (and safe) again. But Avery didn't expect to fall in love with Wyoming itself - and the people. She began to feel at home and didn't miss the rush hour traffic or the hustle and bustle of the big city. But soon her stalker found her in Wyoming and began to make threatening text messages again - at about the same time that Brand started to see the benefits of his physical therapy with her (as did a few others in his family). Now that Avery had become someone special to all of Brand's family, they would not let her be harmed by some crazed lunatic. Or was this crazy person too much for the Merrick's to handle?

This is book 1 in a new series. I will definitely be reading book 2 when it is released.

I was provided an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinion stated above is mine without any biases.

My Kind of Cowboy is my first time reading a R.C. Ryan romance novel and it will not be my last. I really liked the story of Brand Merrick and is tight knit family (which I hope the next novels star Brand’s brothers and one of Liz please, too). In comes Avery Grant a physical therapist from Michigan who is to help Brand overcome his lingering pain from a terrible fall. Not only does she break down this rough cowboy to comply with her pt he helps her along the way with her own troubles. There was some nice twists along the way in this book which I enjoyed.

I was provided with an electronic ARC through NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
