“I’m bound by duty and honor, but for the next few weeks I get to have my American cake and eat her too…one decadent bite at a time.”

Isabela Lima has a plan to go to the kingdom of Gwokon, in Africa to seek out the people responsible for the death of her beloved step-mother so she needs money and fast. So what’s a history teacher on break supposed to do to get it all that money? Why not enter yourself in a virgin auction? I mean it sounds like a good plan, especially when Izzy goes out on stage and can’t take her eyes of the sexy man in the front row who just bid an insane amount of money to spend three weeks with her. She keeps telling herself she has to do this. For Mary and maybe it won’t be so bad spending three weeks with this intense and sexy stranger.

“He could never seriously date a woman from the Unites States, let alone marry her. Which was why he was buying her temporarily, and would enjoy every moment.”

Nassor couldn’t take his eyes off the beauty on the stage. He hadn’t planned to go to a virgin auction but he’s so glad he did. He’s only got a few weeks before he’s crowned King and his royal duties and obligations take over so he plans to have as much fun as he can with his three week million dollar investment. Izzy needs to get to Gwokon to find out more about the mystery surrounding Mary’s death and Nassor happens to be the future King. They both hope they can get what they want. Except Izzy needs to keep the real reasons she’s so interested in his country a secret, but we all know some secrets don’t stay hidden for long.

“I’m fucking tired of these games. Of you not believing in me. In us.”

So Nassor and Izzy travel back to Gwokon with different missions and outcomes in mind, but soon that starts to shift as what was supposed to be a way to sort of sow his wild oats before duties take over becomes so much more. For the both of them. But Nassor has tradition to follow and a country to think of and Izzy doesn’t want to stand in the way. Do these two people from two very different places stand a chance or will Izzy have to say goodbye to her King?

“I’ve waited a long time for this moment, even when I didn’t know I was waiting.”

I liked the whole idea behind this book. The blurb sucked me right in and I enjoyed both Izzy and Nassor but sadly this book wasn’t what I wanted it to be. I felt like there was so much glossed over. Where it felt like we were about to get a little more, it just moved on to the next thing and it was kind of all over the place. A lot of gaps and unanswered questions. It was also a bit on the lighter side of what I thought it would be. I expected raw and gritty and sexy and we just got bits and pieces of that. I loved how much Nassor was loyal to his country and was willing to stand up for what he thought was right. But he showed them it was okay for him to love who he wanted and that was sweet. It was a good read and do look forward to more from this author but I needed more with this story.

Carmen Falcone does it again. Sold to the King. A Very fast pace, steamy HOT book. It was very refreshing to read about an interracial couple. And the location being a fictional country in Africa was another big thumb up. The chemistry was there from the get go and it was 'boiling', 'sizzling' compelling. I really recommend this story.
I voluntarily reviewed this Book and the opinion here are all mine.

This is a very twisted contemporary story good for anyone in search of a steamy story, involving two very improbable characters.

Super Steamy Romance and Enjoyable Story

I was a bit surprised that I like this as much as I did. Generally books with so many steamy scenes don’t have much of a story. However I liked this one, despite not really understanding her motives all the time. I liked the characters and the fact that the heroine, Izzy, is trying to find out what happened to her stepmother.

What I didn’t really like is the fact that she seemed a little bent more on revenge than justice at times and she didn’t seem to care how much it affected the man she is claiming to be falling in love with. The Hero, Nassor, is the king Regent of the African nation of Gwokon (fake country with a silly name in my opinion). Being the King regent means he is soon becoming the King, because his uncle who has Alzheimer’s is abdicating the thrown.

Being a new King, Nassor is starting his reign at a disadvantage because he was shunned from the kingdom as a child since he was born to the King’s sister out of wedlock and he wasn’t raised being trained to be a king. However he wants to make a lot of changes to bring the nation into the twenty first century. He wants to improve the economy, healthcare and other things. In order to do that he needs a chance.

Though Izzy wants to find out how her stepmother was murdered in the country and bring it out into the open. Even though it happened under his Uncles rule, Nassor knows that a scandal like that could hurt his rule if it comes out at the very beginning of his reign. Not to mention if his enemies find out that he purchased Izzy in a Virgin auction for thirty days.

I enjoyed how this played out, though not always liking Izzys actions. I also liked that this was a completely different setting than most books I have read. I don’t read a lot of interracial love stories but I genuinely liked this one. Though there really was no issue with the fact that they were from different races, more so because she was from America and he became a king. Tradition also calls for him to marry multiple women, which was a big issue in the story as well, and handled nicely.

This was a stand-alone romance and it was extremely steamy. I give it a heat index of 5 out of 5 flames. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. I liked the steamy scenes, the wording wasn’t too flowery but wasn’t too crass either. I think it was just perfect for the tone of the book, which I really liked. I don’t know about you but when the intimate scenes have language that is overly poetic or flowery, I end up laughing and when it is too crass, it is like reading bad porn.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is not my normal taste of late to read but I do adore reading this author which when I seen this one I had to venture in. I also was curious on how this was going to go because alot of this I do not agree to but I knew there had to be a reason which this author will take you through. This is also one that will have you simmer than sizzle as you read it. Izzy had the best of intentions of why she felt she had too but it will also be a double edge that comes along. Nassar will be the one who opens the door per say for them both. They both will have different directions in mind when they go to his country but something else also blooms out of it. This one held me captive more than I thought it would with the story being a delicious part with the sizzle.

Nassor was soon to become King and his life would revolve around duty to his country. Izzy is participating in a virgin auction to learn about her step-mother’s murder. Sparks fly between them but what will happen when Nassor discovers why Izzy entered the auction. Fast-paced read with plenty of drama, steamy and amazing chemistry. The characters are likable with plenty of depth and the story is entertaining. A good read.

I was pleasantly surprised by Sold to the King by Carmen Falcone. I didn't know what to expect when I first saw the cover, which I still think doesn't fit the book. Izzy decides to sell her virginity at a virgin auction to raise funds so she can continue investigating her stepmother Mary's death in Gwokon, a country in Africa. The highest bidder ends up being Nassor, the soon-to-be-king of Gwokon, much to Izzy's surprise. She has to hide her true reasons for selling herself to him, because she has no idea what will happen if he finds out about her revenge and justice plot. They go to Gwokon together, where they fight their growing feelings and give into their attraction for each other. I really liked the first half of the story. It was steamy and interesting, and it just held my attention in general. But I didn't like how Izzy's personality seemed to change when Nassor committed to their relationship. She had a lot more relationship issues all of a sudden. And some of the biggest parts of their uncovering Mary's death were rushed at the end or not fully explained. I liked Izzy's and Nassor's relationship and their development, but again, it felt rushed at the end. I did like how Izzy was such a strong female character, and her assertiveness. Nassor was a great character as well, and it was clear he cared and loved Izzy. Overall, this was an interesting romance and mystery.

Hot and sweaty but a bit jumpy. 3.5 stars
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I love the premise of this book. Falcone has written another in this series prior,
Auctioned to the Greek Billionaire, that I read and it was good too. Both are stand-alones.
The typical virgin story is given a different platform in this new one. I really enjoyed the characters and their development, but for some reason I did not get the normal intense connection between the two we usually see in a Falcone book. The main event even seemed like it was underplayed. Plus, there were some areas that seemed jumpy and just didn't flow well for me.
However, this story is spicy and sweet with some heated scenes that are certainly memorable. Sold to the King is what it is - short and sexy with some sweaty moments and a lovely HEA that will leave you with a smile on your face.
This was a really good romance with a little bit of suspense that I liked. I loved the main characters and would recommend this to any one that likes a romance with a future king!
Falcone is not adverse to pushing emotions to the edge in order to deliver an intriguing story. Sold to the King steps over the envelope and into taboo territory. Izzy and Nassor are like fire and ice. The heat is always at the surface, but there never ceases to be a chill in the air. When desperation causes Izzy to go the unconventional route, Nassor ends up being more than her heart could have bargained for. Sold to the King thrives on heat, but within the spice is the heart of a warrior.
SOLD TO THE KING by Carmen Falcone is the story of Nassor Abadu and Isabela 'Izzy' Lima .
Nassor is to be the King of Gwokon but before taking over he wishes to have some personal time because once he is King his life will greatly change. Izzy was really close to her stepmother who was really the only mother she known. Izzy's stepmother was killed in Gwokon so she wants to go there to research her death and to avenge her Stepmother. Money of course is needed and she decided a Virgin Auction would be the quickest way to earn money. Nassor is the one that ends up 'buying' her and they have an immediate attraction. Nassor takes her to Gwokon to spend more time with her and of course Izzy plans on doing her investigation.
This was a spicy intriguing story.
A soon to be king on a mission to enjoy his last days of freedom. A women willing to sell herself to travel and discover what happened to her step-mother who was murdered. Romantic telling by a skilled author for a quick read. "A copy of this was provided by Entangled via NetGalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."
Very hot erotic romance!
School teacher Isabela (Izzy) Lima entered herself in a virgin auction so she can raise more money so she can investigate the death of her stepmother after her body was found in the kingdom of Gwokon. Izzy had already spent her life’s saving searching after being scammed by the last investigator and this would give her more money to search with. Nassor Abadu had traveled to Las Vegas to buy some companionship with his own money before he was crowned the new king of Gwokon and straightening out his new kingdom after his uncle’s abdication. Nassor decided to take Izzy back to Gwokon so he would have more time with her and Izzy hoped she would be able to do some searching while in Gwokon.
Sold to the King is more towards the erotic side of romance but the romance is strong between Izzy and Nassor.
I have to admit that I tend to shy away from stories about virginal females learning at the hands of an experienced man. That said, from time to time I come across one that I actually really enjoy. Sold to the King is one such book. I think possibly part of the reason for that is that that's not all that this book is about. Although Izzy sells her virginity to King to be Nassor, the reasons for her doing so are to do with getting to the bottom of a murder mystery and Nassor deciding what kind of ruler he is going to be and how he will live his life.
Nassor and Izzy worked well as a couple. I was worried that as he met her through an auction, he might be a little bit overbearing, but almost from the start, he's caring and attentive to Izzy. Although they both have issues from their past to come to terms with, it's Nazzor that is able to accept things between them first, Izzy takes much longer to accept that they can be together and make things work.
I really enjoyed this story, Nassor and Izzy had some things to work through, but as a couple, they worked well together and the obstacles in their path didn't feel forced or unnatural.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Sold to the King follows Izzy and Nassor after they meet at a virgin auction.
When I saw the description on NetGalley, I was immediately intrigued. I thought that was going to be a King in a castle in the 1800s or something, not in modern-day Africa. I ended up being pleasantly surprised and enjoyed reading the novel. (+.5)
The plot of the book is fast-paced and engaging that I finished it in two sittings. (+1)
The writing style is a bit difficult for me to read, especially in the beginning. I found the first chapter to be a little bit choppy, and I had to read the sentences multiple times to comprehend the sentence. The rest of the book is fine. (-.5)
The story is organized and straightforward. My only issue with the organization is the drastic time gaps between some of the scenes. (-.5)
I really like the characters. Despite Sold to the King being a romance/ erotic novel, I think Izzy is strong and independent. I also enjoy Nassor's character because I got to see him mostly outside his kingly duties. (+1)
My favorite part is the private moment between Izzy and Nassor's mother. I was definitely not expecting that! (+1)
I didn't really have a least favorite part. (+1)
If you want a quick story, loveable characters, and steamy romance, this book is for you. There is also an element of mystery that adds an extra layer to the story.
