this was an ok read, the character was ok and I thought the premise was interesting. there was something that didn't quite connect with it. It was a good read.

Stuart Duffelmeyer and the Masters of Plagues feels like that revenge story you dream up when you're in middle school - the protagonist gains (what appear to be) ultimate powers, and chooses to use those powers to get revenge on those who have wronged him. However noble the intentions of Reynolds, the story is held back by the actual writing - the characters feel similar, the verbiage feels stilled, and the entire novel is crying out for a thorough editing for clarity and prose. What could have been an interesting examination of revenge and intention becomes a quagmire of language, which the reader will struggle to finish.
