Rylan is a five year old with a mouse named Henry. His dad is in the military and when he gets home from deployment, he announces they will be moving from Alaska to South Carolina. Rylan is leaving the only home he has known and this story is about their journey to get to their new home.

It was a good book that really makes you think about the struggles of uprooting at a young age and the effect it has on children. It would be a great book to read to elementary kids to help them understand.

This book was given to me an an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in an exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

It is cute story about families who have to relocate frequently due to work assignments.
It takes s lit especially from children.
They carry their surroundings with them and they remember them as indispensable part of their memories.
To leave behind friends and school is a difficult thing and uncertainty of new place haunts for long time.
It is story of a young boy and his pet mouse.
It is a cute story with a happy ending.
I loved reading it.
Artwork is ok and suits the theme of the story.
I would have loved little bit more polished artwork.
I will definitely recommend it to young readers.
Thanks netgalley and publisher for review copy.

A good book about moving for children having to do so.

I found the story to be interesting but not exciting. I enjoyed the parts with Henry. The traveling portion of the book seemed a bit stiff.

Too much of the story was devoted to the car ride. I would like to have seen more about how Rylan was feeling. It would also be good to know about the things he would ;miss from Alaska or hopes about what might be waiting for him in South Carolina.

As someone who moved 54 times as a child, it is much more emotional that what is portrayed here. He book came off as incomplete and superficial.

I received an ARC from Author House Publishing through NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion or rating of this book. I am submitting this review voluntarily and am under no obligation to do so.

Thank you @netgalley and AuthorHouse for the review copy of this book. This book is part of a series. It's really a great children's book that talks about moving families and the journey and adventure they have while they move from place to place. The story is about Rylan and his pet mouse who has to travel to South Carolina from Alaska. Rylan is unsure of the move but is trying his best to not let his worry of moving to a new place stop him from having fun. The book is filled with what looks like hand-drawn pictures portraying the scenes in the story. The pictures were great and kids would love to see the pictures as well. I think it's a great book for kids to pick up and read. I would suggest it's great for military families who do a great deal of shifting between places because of their deployment.

This book was okay. It was not my favorite children’s book. I feel like it didn’t flow good, and the chapters made it difficult.

The story is about Rylan and Henry that moving house to Alaska with their family. A good one for lightread tho I not sure whether it's interesting or not. Just, flat?

Nothing too fun, but not that boring. Hmmm...

Perhaps I couldn't really enjoy it cause the layout for ARC edition is not really good, so, well..

I thought that this was a lovely book.

The author tells the story in the book of a military family who is moving…again!

This will be their third move and this one will be a long journey that they are taking which will involve them driving long distances over a few days.

I liked how the story focussed on Rylan and his “pet” mouse – Henry and their friendship and his worries that he will be leaving Henry behind.

I thought that the images suited the book, but they were a little dark at times and could maybe do with being a little brighter but overall it was well told – 5 stars!

Well I could relate to this book. We moved 15 times our 16 years of marriage. Our oldest daughter went to 12 different schools before graduating. I thought this is a great book, much needed, for families like mine. Children could really benefit to have a story like this read to them, before facing such a life changing move. Rylan is a young five year old leaving all that he knew, to drive thousands of miles and relocate because his dad is being transferred again. I appreciated Christy Jordan Wrenn's writing, her illustrations, not so much. I received a copy of this book from Authorhouse through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This is a work of love about a big family move and is dedicated to military families who have to move home during their service for their country.
Rylan and Henry already exist as a story book and they are centre stage in this short tale about preparing for and embarking on that move, lock, stock and barrel.
Rylan is only 5 so these concepts are new to him and he has only really known their home in Alaska. The whole process seems daunting and surely nothing can compare with where they currently live.
This is such a good point as sometimes we expect young children to take things in their stride but they have anxieties the same even if not the vocabulary to express them. The author makes this point well and backs it up by showing him going off his food.
Children will read alone with the simple text and delight in the illustrations. These are more basic than some books but there is a wealth of information and a great deal of love is evidenced in this project.
Henry is not one of the children, rather a rogue pet mouse who finds his own way to undertake the trip across Canada and into South Carolina.

A heart warming tale of family love and togetherness. The book could have been 10 times longer as this is an epic road trip. It does make the point of the enormity of being transplanted into another part of the country and a journey of over 4,000 miles. It is an insight into moving home but taking not just all your possessions, pet mouse, toys and games. It also points to the new place being more than a new house if you bring love into it; it will become a home.

Eight days on the road was too long for three children, Mom and Dan, and of course, a mouse named Henry.

Rylan lives with his family in Alaska and when is father comes home from leave in the armed forces, he tells his family they are moving to South Carolina. Over 4,000 miles of driving, things to see, and hopefully nothing gets lost like a mouse named Henry. Rylan and his family have mixed emotions about leaving, but like good parents, both mom and dad ease their children's fears and look forward to what they will be coming home too. A great read for kids to realize what home really means.

The book is geared toward Elementary Age children with child like drawings of the what Rylan was feeling. A great read for kids to get ready for a big move.

A Special Thank you to AuthorHouse and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

I really, really wanted to love this book. It is such a necessary story for children of military families. However, it was just not professionally illustrated or written. It took me a while to figure out that an adult had illustrated and written it. I honestly thought it had been done by a child.

Moving Again!!! With Rylan and Henry by Christy Jordan Wrenn
Children's book about a military family living in Alaska. Ryan is the young boy who has a pet mouse that he takes everywhere with him.
Husband had moved 18 times before I had met him, we moved into an apartment together, and then a house shortly afterwards. Not sure how much more we will be moving, hope never.
One night at dinner their dad arrives home after being deployed for many months. They get to spend time with him til they learn they are to move back to the lower states of US.
They will get to spend time with relatives as they will now be living closer to them.
Part I loved the best was the road trip and learning and seeing all kinds of new things. Love the nature and animals they came across and locations.
Some pictures are very dark to see what they are...
