I suppose I have outgrown the House of Night series, because this book didn’t do it for me. The writing wasn’t great and I didn’t really like the characters.

The house of night series are actually the best vampire stories I have read in a long time.
Zoey redbird is such a kickass character. I was so excited to read this book and I was not disappointed. I couldn’t put this book down and read it in a few hours.

I enjoyed The House of Night series alot and had high hopes for this new series. And this book delivered, I wasn't disappointed at all. Great start to a new series and I really enjoyed this book just as much as all the others leading up to this series spin-off.

I read the house of night series when I was in high school and was worried that I wouldn't be able to remember all the characters but I fell straight back in sync and was transported right back to my teenage years (there is a handy catch up of who is who at the start for those who didn't read the house of night series).

We start off with the lead character being warned of impending doom (from a suspect character no less) followed by an act to prevent the doom which leads to a whole heap of trouble causing the nerd herd to rush to the rescue. Sound familiar? That's because it is pretty much the plot for every other book in this series but I like that I can always go to this series for some easy reading, knowing whats in store.

If you like YA Vampire fiction or even YA fantasy, I would definitely recommend PC Cast books, the writing is descriptive, fun and easy to follow.

i must say the Netgalley cover is wayyy better than the good reads cover but i am unsure which one is real.
This book will be reread. I know its technically the start of this series but really its a continuation of the series before this which I want to finish reading before I can leave a good enough review as I don't know where we left our characters last.

The story is fun and nice and refreshing to me. I really like this authors book in audio so I am sure that's how I will reread this. It was a good read and I am so happy for all the characters to see their progress.

It was so amazing to be transported back to the House of Night. I loved the original books so this one was a welcome addition. It was great to have all my favourite characters back and see how they had matured. I thought the story line was a great spin off. I love the style of writing and the re cap at the beginning helped me remember where everyone was & meant others that hadn’t read the original books could still enjoy this new series. Fantastic.

Loved is the first book in a new trilogy in the House of Night series. I haven’t read any of the other books and so it took a few chapters to get into the story and familiarise myself with the characters. I would recommend having read at least some of the other books before reading this as there are so many references to what happens in the earlier books that I found it quite confusing.

It was a fast paced read with lots of action and banter. The characters did feel a little young for their age at times. (Or perhaps I’m just a bit too old to enjoy the writing style) At times the dialogue was cringe-y and felt quite disjointed. It was obvious that the book was written by two different people. One minute the language was very modern with lots of slang and the next it was old fashioned.

I did enjoy the interesting take on vampires and magic and I liked the importance of friendship as a theme throughout the book. The ‘Nerd Herd’ were a tight knit group and knew each other very well which was nice but because the relationship building between them had already been done, I found I just couldn’t connect with the characters like I wanted to.

An entertaining and enjoyable read, great to be back in Zoeys world again. This is the first in a new trilogy set a year after the end of the last books , feels like you’ve never left and I enjoyed this just not as much as the original series. It was fun, but found it a bit cliched and stereotypical at times. Entertaining read and it’s an easy read, but was hoping for a bit more, hopefully it’ll pickup int the next book.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

I've always been a big fan of House of Night! The series itself is such an easy read with a good slow burn of a story and loved was just the same. I love the recapping that kinda takes you back to into the story.

My favorite part of this book (and most of the House of Night series) is the friendship tropes throughout the story. The story line is easy to follow and enjoyable to read. I really love that the pop culture references were toned down in this new trilogy. I always felt like they were too excessive in the previous books, but this really tones it down.

House of Night has a total cult following and will live on within us forever. This book was great, I loved everything about it. I love how easily it continued Zoey's story. I love that she is now an adult in this creative universe. Honestly, I cannot wait for the next book.

Thank you kindly to P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast for creating this unique world that I love getting lost in time and time again, Thank you to NetGalley and Head of Zeus publishing for allowing me to review this title.

I am so glad that the Cast's returned to this world! Loved was as thrilling as the original House of Night with the returning characters keeping their banter and personalities we have all grown to love.

The originality of the story line in this book means that you could read this one without having read the original series, but it is definitely a continuation. The introduction of parallel words mean that these stories have the potential to keep going

I received this ARC for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the authors, P.C & Kristin Cast and the publisher, Head of Zeus, for accepting my request to review! Loved will be published on 6th February 2020!

As this book deals with some heavy themes I included some trigger warnings, I hope this doesn't spoil anything!
TW: mentions of an abusive parent; rape; some graphic violence; alcohol misuse; drugs misuse.

This book is a continuation of the previous series of House of Night novels. A little disclaimer before we go any further, I haven't read the previous books, however there is a very handy recap at the beginning of the book to help the reader catch up with everything that has happened, which I found to be very thoughtful and helpful! Even though there have been previous books, I didn't feel lost or confused at all when reading this one. Of course, there were some things that obviously had a backstory but these were not in relation or crucial to understand the plot line. In fact, it just made me intrigued and want to go back and read the others. I'd love to see how all of the relationships evolved to the point that they are at now so they are definitely going to be added to my TBR soon!

If you're like me and haven't read the previous books, then please be aware that this book, and my review, will most likely contain spoilers for them!

Our protagonist is Zoey Redbird and we join her a year after the events of the previous series. She is just about to turn eighteen, displays amazing empathy and is such a fun character! Zoey, along with her friends, is a 'vampyre' with access to 'magick' but she is also special as she is the only one who has been gifted with an affinity for all five elements. The magick element is so cool with all of the circle casting, however this book also shows that magic always comes with a price. I always enjoy when vampires can cast magic because it makes their powers so much more fun, interesting and chaotic.

There are so many diverse characters with great powers. For example, there is a character, Aphrodite (which how cute is that!) who has visions. I love it when books have characters with this power because there can be so many different interpretations of a vision, it's never going to be what you think and always leads to a surprise or amazing twist and the authors definitely didn't disappoint! Additionally, there is also the goddess Nyx whom the vampyres worship. She is benevolent and helps guide our characters, I really liked how she had a subtle presence and wasn't overbearing.

Zoey truly has a great group of friends around her and I just need to say that "Herd of Nerds" is the best group name ever! It is hard to pick a favourite because they each have some amazing qualities but I think I can guarantee that everyone who reads this will have a special place in their hearts for Zoey's grandma because she is just the sweetest.

This book has something for everyone - vampyres, magick and zombies, oh my! - and even dabbles with parallel worlds which I thought was really well done. It can be easy to get confused when writing on this topic but the author managed it fantastically.

I loved the positivity and theme of friendship all throughout the book. There was a gentle and easy storyline that was enjoyable and easy to follow and I really appreciate that it wasn't too action heavy! Plus, I really liked the parallel of political events mirroring some real life ones, it added a sense of realism which was very clever.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable read and I can't wait to read more!

Thank you again to NetGalley, the authors and the publisher for the ARC and remember to look out for Loved on the 6th February 2020! Not too long to wait now!

I received an ARC of this book thanks to NetGalley and publisher Head of Zeus in exchange for an honest review.

I cannot believe there is a new House of Night book in 2020. When I saw this was on NetGalley, I was HYPED. I read every single one of these books back in the day in all of their glorious insanity. This series is the absolute definition of guilty pleasure and I didn't realise how much I missed being baffled by it.

So Loved is the first in a new trilogy, set one year after the first 12 books. Zoey is now turning 18 (that's right, everything happened to her before she was 18!) and things are not quite right with the universe. EITHER universe.

Oh yes that's right, there are parallel worlds in this. And zombies! And a whole bunch of other insane plot elements I wouldn't dare spoil. All of the expected characters are here and even a few unexpected ones. If you enjoyed the previous House of Night books then this is much of the same and it continues the story well. It was a very entertaining read and I couldn't put it down. Do I think these books are great examples of quality writing? Honestly no. But I'm never bored reading them and that's worth something.

Sadly it would not be fair to mention some of the explicit negatives. Pop culture references are toned down massively from the first series but there are 5 on the very first page which is a LOT in quick succession. There is also a fair amount of questionable content, both in terms of jokes and actual patterns that show up. The black girl must keep talking about how sassy and black she is (I am not black myself but this stood out as a yikes to me), calling herself 'brown sugar'. Two lesbians discuss about magically making straight girls lesbians and it's implied they took advantage of that. Damien is a gay guy who is revealed later to have depression and, presumably as a result, he cries. A lot. Like every time he shows up. Male characters crying is 100% fine but when the gay guy is the only one who cries, this has unfortunate implications attached.

All in all, this is a solid continuation of the series. Is it perfect? No, but none of them were ever perfect. Did I enjoy reading it? Absolutely. For better or for worse, these books hold a morbid fascination for me and I will definitely be carrying on with this new series.

Overall Rating: 3.5/5 stars

Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for a review!

It was a pretty decent book. Young Adult paranormal stuff, vampires and zombie apocalypse and everything. If you look better at it, it even has a certain inner glance of the characters. I enjoyed it pretty much, that's why I've decided to give it 3.5 stars!
