This book was a wild ride! I loved the urban fantasy take after reading SJM’s other more traditional romantic fantasy series.

Great story!

I’ll admit I wasn’t quite sold during the first read, after I went back in for a second time I was obsessed!!

The world building is a lot to take in all at once, but once you get in the swing of things everything clicks.

I was sobbing by the end of this book, which is how you know it’s good!

Love SJM everytime!

I have to say, this was quite disappointing. Not only did the characters fall much flatter then in some of Ms. Maas's other work, the dialogue was also awkward and difficult to read. Will not be proceeding to the sequel.

I’ve been sitting on this book because I didn’t want to read it until I knew the second book in the series would be available and I’m glad I did. Not because I didn’t want to read it sooner, but because after finishing it I immediately wanted to move straight to the second book. Can’t wait to read more.

The anticipation for the net SJM book is always high. But after HOSAB, I was beyond excited to get a sneak peek into the next book. This excerpt was very exciting. It set the tone for Bryce and Hunt’s dynamic and reminded the readers of a few of the loose ends from the last book.

A more mature version of Sarah J. Maas’s previous books shows us just how good she really is at world building in many different instances. Though her worlds can be similar, this modern version of Fae and others was a great addition to her catalog. The story moves quickly, giving the main character Bryce Quinlan a great path to follow and leads the reader to being excited that this is her first installment in this series.

Wow what an amazing excerpt!! I mean I’ve read other SJM books before, notably her ACOTAR series, but this excerpt made me believe there may be a new #1 SJM book in my life!! Bryce is so fun and already an interesting character!! I can’t wait to see what happens next! :)

The beginning of the book was extremely hard for me to read. It is extremely slow paced and focused on world building. There was really nothing for me to grab onto or be interested in. After reading the whole book the last 100 pages are a lot better, but I still was 50/50 on if I would continue on with this series or not. In the end I decide to continue on because Sarah J. Maas is an author I trust and I have enjoyed all her other books.

This was great, just an excerpt that I received a while ago but an amazing look into what this series will entail. SJM’s world building is unmatched and I am so excited to see where she takes this.

The first 200 pages were hard to get through because there were so much info dumping. But after that I wanted to read this book every minute I had free. This story sucked me in. And the last 200 pages... WHOA, what a ride. Loved it.

Amazingly captivating. Makes you just water for the full book. This excerpt hooks you in and already hints at being perfect for previous and new fans of Sarah J. Maas.

There's so many characters to remember and I know that Sarah j maas is going to break my heart with some of them.

Wasn't a huge fan of this, unfortunately, but will be giving the finished edition another shot at some point in the future..

House of Earth and Blood is SJM's biggest and most badass series yet. Still true to her fantasy roots, she created this giant new world of all types of fantastical creatures, intriguing politics, and a murder mystery for the ages! It has been amazing to see her grow as a author and I cannot fathom what her brilliant mind will conjure up next. Despite the 800 pages, HOEB can be read relatively quick, despite the slow start. Once you get going, you can't stop. I love that despite the high fantasy, you still get to know the characters so intimately—they still are brilliantly fleshed out, each with unique flaws and desires. Also the romantic tension is a skill SJM has only perfected throughout the years. Hunt and Bryce and mwah, chef kiss. I can't wait to see what they get up to next time.

Book 1 in the new fantasy series by SJM starts with a bang! With amazing characters, a memorable plot with so many twists that it will leave you reeling, a great world and a setup to a pretty epic series

I had a great time reading this book, it temporarily pulled me out of a slump I have been in for the past 4 months and it also reminded me of how much I love SJM and her works

This book is a good one to start with if you are new to urban fantasy romance but be warned, you will need a box of tissues handy as this time Sarah does not hold back her punches.

I love everything that Sarah J. Maas has written. Definitely recommend this to my students who love fantasy and romance.
