Love Sarah Maas! Her stories are always involved, her characters complex, and her plots twisty. I will say, this was not my favorite of her series, but it was still a wonderful ride to read.

This was fabulous, it had me gripped from the first page as Sarah J. Maas' works usually do! As her first adult novel, this really stood out from the others and it may be my favourite of hers so far. I am very keen to see where she goes with this series and very excited for the release of the sequel!

SJM is probably one of my favorite authors and while CC did take me some time to understand with all the information provided in the first 200+ pages of the book, but once the story got going I was hooked. I can’t wait for book 2.

Read this ahead of publication for HoEaB and I knew it was going to be great. It's an amazing world created with such smart and interesting world building, diversity and magic systems.
Sarah J. Maas never fails to make us want to keep reading, and honestly just the excerpt made me crave the whole book right then and there.

This excerpt hyped me up so much to read Crescent City! I was instantly sucked into the story line, and was on the edge of my seat to see what would happen between Bryce and Connor! I flipped through the pages so fast, ready to see what might unfold between them, only to get my heart crushed around the travesty that presents itself around chapter 5. These were the perfect amount of chapters to hook me, and I couldn’t wait to receive a physical copy of CC!

Whew! That was WORK. Extremely long af. Tons of characters just thrown in my face. Like, who are you & why should I care? We eventually took a turn for the better around 500 pages. That’s already a whole ass book though. But am I going to read the next installment? Yes, yes I am.

I read the House of Earth and Blood excerpt via Netgalley. It was okay. There's a sameness to Sarah's stories and they work for those who enjoy her books.

WOW. It took me quite awhile to start this book, but WOW was it worth the wait. This excerpt contains the first five chapters of "House of Earth and Blood," and boy do those chapters take you for one Hel of a ride.

First thoughts? It's about time we got some new adult Fae content! The f-word is used at least three times in the first chapter so you know it's real. The banter is promiscuous, and there are plenty of references to drugs and alcohol too. The best part though? Fae in the 21st Century! Magic combined with everyday technology, like cell phones! This is such a fun, fresh twist on the Fae fantasy genre SJM is known for. I am digging it!

So far, I am hooked. There was a lot of info-dumping (much more so then TOG or ACOTAR, hence the four star rating as this may be a bit too much for some readers not as accustomed to high fantasy reads), but the disorientation makes this new world fun imo. And just when I thought I had a feel for things and had an idea of where this story might go...BAM! SJM hits us with an iconic twist right off the bat. I was not prepared! Will I mourn the idea of the dynamic duo that I had already started building up in my head? Naturally. Am I already a little upset over that the first love interest being so quickly killed off? Duh. But this has only whet my appetite for what's sure to come.

I cannot wait to continue with this one (plus side of starting this excerpt so late in the game - I, of course, already own the hardcover edition and can dive right in to the rest of the story). I am also thrilled I already pre-ordered the second book in the series. SJM continues to amaze me.

Amazing. Such a short except had a very powerful impact. Shock, sadness, and immense loss were all the emotions evoked from my heart in just 15 mins. Sarah J Mass knows how to pull at the heart string so cleverly now. Definitely a must read when it comes out

House of Earth and Blood was a book I desperately wanted to like. I waited until the book was fully published before leaving this review. Following Maas' 'A Court of Rose and Thorns' series, I was very intrigued to see what she would do with more contemporary supernatural beings. What I read instead was a highly immature main character whose only flaws somehow only endeared her to the rest of the characters. What I found to be her most intriguing flaw, Maas got rid of at the end of the novel. So now you just have this novel about this overly beautiful, selfish, girl who has no real challenges beyond 'Why doesn't this person like me immediately?'. Even the "big challenge" at the end, the one that is supposed to string the series together, didn't even really even capture my attention. It was almost a did not finish read for me.

House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J Mass follows the life of Bryce. She used to be a party girl until a demon murdered her friends. After that night, she began to lead a quiet life. Hunt (a fallen angel) comes into her life and they leverage each other to get what they need.

NetGalley provided an excerpt of this book and it hooked me. I had to dive in and read the rest of the book. Sarah J. Mass is great at creating other worlds and searing romance. I highly recomend reading.

First 5 chapters are amazing world building!!! Once you get more into the details, this book is seriously SJM’s best work yet.

This was an absolutely amazing start to the beginning of Sarah J. Maas's new adult fantasy series, and I am so excited to read the rest of it! All of the characters are so endearing, and I am loving the different types of mythical creatures that are introduced. I love that vampires are now included as well, and I look forward to reading more (especially about Hunt!)

This is my first Sarah J. Mass book. I liked the excerpt enough to buy the kindle book and the audible book. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the rest of the story goes. I am already enjoying the magic and worldbuilding.

This excerpt was FANTASTIC! I couldn't wait for the book to come out to read more. Sarah J Maas is a master at crafting a story and this is just as good as her other books.
