It had been awhile since I had read this author with forgetting that the ability the author had in totally taking you away. When you open one of her novels you are soon somewhere else than in where ever you started out at. Camden has your heart in his hand as his story unravels. But time has a way of changing our directions with Camden getting a different call. Oh my do I smell second chance in this also. Willow will also have our attention and will he hear her? This is for sure one that will be heavy in pulling on the heart strings with all the emotions that were not spared in this.

Cam and Willow's story is heartbreaking, hopeful and full of emotion. There are so many pieces to this story. Great And Precious Things by Rebecca Yarros is not only about a couple falling in love. It's also about family, about friends and about navigating through what seem to be insurmountable odds to do the right thing for the people you love the most. I highly recommend adding this book to the top of your must read list.

4.5 Stars!!!

‘I wanted to paint this moment, to capture this exact feeling as I watched him at peace. A peace I knew would vanish the moment he opened his eyes and the world beat its way in. ‘

Great and Precious Things is our second book by Rebecca Yarros and once again, we were moved by her stellar writing in a heart wrenching, sincere and beautifully emotional story of family secrets, deep love, choices and second chances. Our hearts broke and soared in equal measure.

Camden Daniels, 28 returns home the prodigal son years after leaving his small hometown to join the army. Whilst he may have been a hero in the military, his past indiscretions see his return home met with mixed feelings from the town’s residents. Cam forgoes a lucrative career in Civil Engineering and faces the wrath of his Dad and others to return home to Alba Colorado to fulfil a request made by his father.

“You have to love your choices, Camden, no matter what they are because you have the freedom to choose.”

Coming face to face with 25-year-old Willow Bradley elicits memories for both, and Rebecca Yarros slowly, delicately and passionately uncovers their history, letting us in on their hopes, dreams and heartaches, and it’s a truly beautiful relationship built on the foundation of pain and loss.

“There is no me without you.”

We are guided through the intense relationship with Camden and his brothers, Sullivan and Alexander, and the difficult relationship between Cam and his Dad, culminating in the reasons for Cam’s departure and his reasons for not wanting to return in the last ten years.

Rebecca Yarros really does delve deep with her characters ensuring we connect and really care about them and we certainly cared about Willow and Camden, two beautiful souls who had always put others wants ahead of their own. Their love story was sad, passionate, sweet and was felt with every beat of our hearts.

“I’ll never not want you. Wanting you is all I’ve ever known. You’re in my blood, my bones, my soul.”

Great and Precious Things is a beautiful story, it’s a story that’s poignant, topical and told with so much heart. We can always feel when an author pours so much of themselves into a story, it jumps off the pages into our hearts and that certainly happened with this story. Told with a smattering of drama and family intrigue, we were present for every moment.

Our rating is such because, as we came to the end of the book we were desperately looking forward to an epilogue. After everything Willow and Cam had gone through, an epilogue was crucial for us, and as readers, we were a little disappointed the book concluded without one. Whilst it didn’t detract from the actual story, it did leave us wanting a little more at the end.

Breathtaking, powerful and utterly compelling.
It’s a riveting story that’s more than a romance, and I was completely captivated by Willow and Cam’s story.
This a story of love, family, and second chances.
The storyline resonated with me as author touched upon a subject that has affected me personally. This sensitive subject was addressed with such integrity I was swept into the story from beginning to end.
Needles to say, I was impressed and captivated with the perfectly flawed characters as this story evolved and developed.
The writing was solid sharp and smart, the scenes were so vivid and for me so relatable. The characters so well developed and realistic.
Heartwarming, passionate and overflowing with emotions.
Cam and Willow have a long history as friends and neighbors. Told in dual perspective I got front and center seat as their slow burn romance evolved. When Cam returns home unexpectedly, perceptions of who he is overshadows the critical decisions he is forced to make. Things are not what they appear difficult decisions give wrong perceptions.
Can he redeem himself?
This standalone military romance is a must!!
5 stars are not enough for this book!!

Okay really there is just something about Rebecca Yarros and the men she creates they are well just wow. She takes us to a little small town called Alba where there is favorite son, the son everybody tries to be and well the troubled son aka the Daniels boys. The thing is that Camden has his reasons why he is called trouble yet to Willow is her love. I loved that Camden is a man almost shunned from the townspeople come back to the one person that wishes him dead to help him die. The feelings these two have, yet afraid for it to be known is like thunder and lightning clashing, it is explosive. Now Rebecca Yarros doesn't just write a romance story she writes one filled with romance, lies, betrayal and most of all hot scenes that will make you swoon. Willow and Camden, two star crossed lovers in their own way seeing that sometimes you just have to leave it to fate for things to go right. One thing about Rebecca Yarros is there is nothing but happiness, love and never disappointment loved it.

It didn't take but a page or two of GREAT AND PRECIOUS THINGS by author Rebecca Yarros for me to know that this book was going to wreck me in the best possible way. Rebecca's beautiful words, a world that I fell immediately into and became a part of, and a story that broke my heart and put it back together, make this a great book, and I was riveted, from beginning to end.

A decorated war hero back home in a town filled with people that have never understood him, Camden Daniels's real strength is the lengths that he will go to for those that he loves, even when that love is not returned. Black sheep, town bad boy, the Daniels boy that will never measure up to either of his brothers, Cam knows what others, including his own father, think of him, but he's ready to face his demons in order to help his family and the town that he loves. Cam had my heart from early on, and I absolutely adore him.

This book is, at its heart, a love story, but not just one of romantic love. Familial love, love of a place, and self-love are themes that Rebecca weaves throughout this beautiful book. Angst, anger, hatred, desire, love, reconciliation, heartbreak, all of these elements are here, and the story wouldn't be the same without them. GREAT AND PRECIOUS THINGS is a book that will remain with me for a very long time, and have made me an immediate fan. My first 6-star read of this year, I cannot recommend it highly enough, and I look forward to my next great read from Rebecca. ❤️

What a read.

Here we have Willow and Cam; they’ve known each other their entire lives, and being friends for that long too; too bad that, to them, it makes it more difficult to say what they really feel about each other.

I loved Willow, she was such a pretty soul and so strong as well. To live in a town that saw you one way, and basically doesn’t allow you to change in their minds. Man, talk about pressure. Yet I loved that she went against those believes in some aspect of her life and lived her life HER way. :-)

I adored Cam so much, such an amazing soul; and heartbreaking to see how tough he was on himself. Now, the town didn’t help either, they were vicious to Cam and how they saw him. I so wanted to punch them. But he rose above that and even helped the town!

Such beautiful people, these two. I loved them separately, but together they truly were a sight to behold.

Beautifully written and precious to read. A must read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”Wanting you is all I’ve ever known. You’re in my blood, my bones, my soul.”
.
If you love:
•Military romance
•Small towns
•Angst
•Slow Burn
•Dual POV
Then this is the one for you!✨
.
I loved this book. Not because it was well written, engaging and emotionally charged. Let me be clear, it was all that. But this story was just beautiful. In a heart wrenching way. Was it about love? Absolutely. But it was about so much more. It was about family. And the unexpected. And fighting for what you know is right. For those you love.✨
.
This book touches on a devestating medical condition and the heartbreak associated. It also touches on a sensitive and difficult subject for many. It’s something no one wants to think about. Let alone have to make decisions about. But it is a subject that I have such strong feelings on. So this topic definitely helped connect me to this book. But even if that element was removed I still would have loved this book.✨
.
You couldn’t help but feel for Cam. He was a literal hero. And treated nothing of the sort. Despite his heart of gold. Willow, the strong heroine. Despite life’s heartbreaking blows, she gave her all to everyone. Always with a cheerful and supportive smile. She’s the friend that has your back when the rest of the world is against you. And I adored that in her.✨
.
Have to be honest.. A couple medical terms were used that gave me pause. I can’t help it, my background is what it is. It didn’t take away from the scene, which still had my heart in my throat, being on both sides of that situation. But it did distract me for a minute. Again, it does not change my feelings or love of this book but I wouldn’t be being honest if I didn’t mention it!✨
.
This book was a roller coaster of emotions and mostly the heart wrenching kind. It was full of angst. And maybe the slowest slow burn I’ve ever read. But it was so powerful. There were twists I didn’t see coming. My heart was in my throat so many times, I lost count. The first two chapters alone pulled me in, in a way I knew this was gong to be a fantastic read. And not long into the book I felt emotional invested in this story. Mostly with tears in my eyes.✨
.
I am still thinking of this book. I love all avenues of romance. But the ones that pull at my heart strings, and make me feel the emotions of the story...Those are my favourite kind. And this was definitely that! I highly recommend this book!✨

A dazzling 4.5 stars.

Rebecca is becoming one of my favorite authors! She has a way is making the character and her stories so real you feel like you are friends with them and holding their hand while they navigate their life.

This story is not only heartbreaking and real, it has that forbidden, unrequited romance aspect to it.

This is NOT an easy light read, it is emotional, raw and hard hitting. But beautifully done!

Rebecca Yarros talent for writing emotional and romantic stories and Great and Precious Things is another great book.

Camden left the town of Alba six years ago. The town, and his father, hate him and blame him for the death of his brother Sully. He never planned on returning, but ends up going back to help care for his father. Back in Alba he also finds a connection with Willow the girl who had dated Sully. This stirs up drama and small-town issues that they must overcome to be together.

The storytelling is top notch, and I really felt drawn in by the plot and characters. I cannot wait to read more of Rebecca Yarros' books.

Whenever you pick up a Rebecca Yarros story, you know she will make you feel. Every single time! In Great and Precious Things, we get a story about family, love, second chances, regrets, hope and so much more. Camden Daniels is a good man. The readers can see it right from the start. But the town he is from only sees what they want to see. They judge and whisper. But he is back and he is here to stay. His father may not be ready to forgive him, but he is ready to take on the town to do what is right.

Now if he could only stay away from the only woman he has ever loved and can never be his. Willow is sweet, beautiful, smart and independent. She knows the man Cam tries to hide, but he pushes her away at every turn. But this time around she is a different woman and one ready to fight for what she wants. Can two people so meant to be together but torn apart by secrets and a town find their way to each other?

Great and Precious Things by Rebecca Yarros riveted me from start to finish. You could feel the love Cam feels for those he cares about in every page, but he is his own worst enemies. The demons that haunt him are not easily thwarted. While Willow carries the expectations of an entire town. My heart just broke for them, even as I cheered them on. A story of family, betrayals, hope, expectations and ultimate what you would do for those you love. A definite must read!

Happy reading!

I really enjoyed this book. It had a little bit of everything that I love in a good story- small town, love, family drama, political drama, and a hot soldier returning from war 😏. Camden returns home to help his brother take care of his father who has Alzheimers. Camden's brother was killed in the war, so he and his family are dealing with that grief and trauma. Enter Willow- the woman who Camden and his family have known since she was a little girl, who was engaged to the brother that was killed. Camden is helping his father fight for a medical DNR, and his father blames him for his other son's death. I definitely became emotionally invested in the story. It was reminiscent of Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. The story alternates between Camden and Willow's perspectives, as they take center stage in the novel. More than anything this was a story about all kinds of love- romantic, platonic, unrequited, and familial. Thank you @entangled_publishing and @rebeccayarros for giving me a chance to read this book

4.5 stars.
Camden comes home from the Army after ten long years of being gone. He's coming to help his brother Xander take care of their father that has Alzheimer. Coming back to town means he has to face his past, and he is determined to not care what the town thinks. Camden knows the truth and thats what matters. He has his own crosses to bare with what happened to his other brother Sullivan. A story of town history, anger, love, family, and facing the truths.

Rebecca Yarros has become one of my all time favorite story tellers. She just has this magic way with her characters, that makes you care about them so much! They feel so real, can really root for them! The love these characters show each other is so fierce and unwavering. I love that there romance but theres so much more to Camden and Willow. They are strong characters on there own. Fighting for what right no matter the cost!

This book was such an emotional story about redemption. It was beautifully written and one of my favorite books by Rebecca Yarros.

Willow and Cam grew up together who have unresolved feelings. She was the girlfriend to Cam’s dead brother. He is now back and retired he carries a lot of guilt because he blames himself for his brother’s death. He is back home in the small town of Alba. These two were perfect for each other. Willow is heartbroken and has Cam to lean on and help her. He is the strength she needs to move on.

This was a beautiful story. Once I started, I couldn’t put it down. IF you are looking for a story full of emotions this is the book for you. I can’t recommend this book enough, it’s a must read.

Whew! THIS BOOK! I know Rebecca is going to slay me and BOY DID SHE! And I loved every minute of it! Camden had always protected and loved Willow. And she had always loved him. They've always danced around each other, never admitting feelings. When circumstances bring Cam back home, he has to face Willow again. Turns out, he's still protective of her and she's equally as protective of him. They learn they have to lean on each other and they have to work together in order to accomplish their task to bring money into their town. There were so many factors tugging on this couple and the things they had to overcome wasn't easy. But it was beautiful and real and solid. I devoured this book and couldn't read it fast enough. Highly recommend this read!

If you've read anything by Rebecca Yarros you know she creates characters you love and makes sure she knows what she's talking about. Everything in her books always feels realistic and that always makes me love her stories just a little bit more! Great and Precious Things was no exception to what I just described.

One of my favorite things about this book is that it takes place in a small town. They're the best, but they can also be really bad. Things are never forgotten in these towns and people have a hard time letting things go. On the other hand, people care for each other and just want to see their town stay succesful! Even if it can be just as bad as a soap opera.

Also, Rebecca Yarros creates characters you just have to love. Camden left this small town ten years ago and hasn't looked back. If it weren't for his father sending him a message, who knows if he would've head home at all. I don't want to give too many details, because this is a story you need to experience on your own. Camden has always been seen as the black sheep and everything that happens is his fault. So much so, that he's actually starting to believe people are right about him. Tragic events caused this thinking even more so. Camden is a character that you just want to hug and tell him it will all be okay. It was amazing to see him start to realize he wasn't all bad and that he deserves love!

Willow lost what everyone thought was the love of her life, but that may not have been the case. Her Dad is a big part of this small town and doesn't always agree with her decisions or other things that have happened in her family. I loved Willow, because she has such a strong will and won't give up her dreams because her family didn't approve. She's not afraid to fight for what she believes in and won't back down for anyone. She loves unconditionally and it shows.

Camden and Willow have a past and I love how that this plays a part in this story. Their love for each other is clear. It gradually develops and that fit this perfectly. Even when letting each other go would probably make things easier, they keep on fighting. They take on all obstacles together.

Another aspect of this story I loved was that it wasn't just the romance between Camden and Willow. Family, grief, forgiveness, free will and new beginnings also play a big part in Great and Precious Things. On top of that there are some major twists I did not see coming. Rebecca Yarros still knows how to surprise me. This wasn't an ugly cry book, but I felt so with these characters that I won't forget them anytime soon!

Another story from Ms. Yarros that touched my heart in the most wonderful way. This book, about romantic love, family love, and love beyond this this world, brought all the feels and was impossible to put down. Camden and Willow’s story had me smiling, teary-eyed, anxious, and sighing as the ups and downs of this romance took me (and them) down a pothole-filled road. However, I never once doubted that we could make it and that the end would be worth the trip.

One of the things that I love about a Rebecca Yarros book is that I always know exactly where her heart was when she wrote the words I’m reading. The emotion of dealing with Alzheimer’s, the feelings of being the black sheep of the family, the burden of blaming yourself for something that too big to handle…each and every one of these elements of the story are tackled with care and love. Each character is given the opportunity to shine and, whether they’re heroes or villains, young or old, strong or weak, the depth of their story matters and the author takes the time to give each of them their time in the limelight. I loved Cam, the hero who deosn’t realize his own strength. What he’s willing to do for his family, no matter what it may cost him, is heartwarming. His love and devotion for Willow touched my soul. He was troubled, sad, and held a great deal on his shoulders…but he had a heart of gold and a true warrior’s spirit. Willow was smart and fierce, willing to take on whatever she had to in order to move their story forward. I particularly loved how she was a great communicator. Where most stories have a communication breakdown, thanks to Willow, this story was refreshing because she tackled these issues head on.

Ms. Yarros is a go-to author for me. With each story she cements herself as one of my all-time favorite authors. Her stories are heart-felt, smart, and realistic. Her characters grab my attention and always hold on well after I’ve finished their stories. Great and Precious Things was proof, yet again, that this author can take a story full of complex feelings and difficult situations and turn them into a book I want to read over and over again!

There were things about this book that made me think of John Steinbeck's East of Eden--as well as the film adaptation starring James Dean--as well as Legends of the Fall, which had a powerhouse cast led by Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins and directed by Edward Zwick. Elements regarding family and rivalry, love and loyalty, brotherhood and betrayal were all shared by Steinbeck's classic novel, Zwick's haunting movie, and Rebecca Yarros's heartrending story, yet each stands on its own respective merits. Yarros's writing is the kind that takes hold of my heart and refuses to let go even after I'm done reading. Cam and Willow's story had aspects that resonated with me, and I loved the story line regarding their romance as much as I did that when it came to their families. If you've never read anything by Yarros before, I'm highly encouraging you to rectify that with Great and Precious Things (and then work your way through her brilliant back list). I promise, you will not regret it. An infinity of stars. ♥

Great and Precious Things by Rebecca Yarros is a beautifully written, heartfelt read and I loved it.

I enjoyed the storyline, it's well written, well paced, entertaining from start to end and I loved watching the relationships between all the characters unfold.

I loved Camden and Willow, I loved their history, I loved their passion and I loved their hearts. Watching them open themselves up to each other made me a very happy girl. They truly deserved their happily ever after.

Great and Precious Things is one of those books that once you start reading you won't want to put down.

This is only my second Rebecca Yarros ARC.

I've read THE LAST LETTER last year and I swear I had a mini-PTSD because of it. It was beautiful and devastating all rolled into one. I ugly-cried reading that book... and if you've read THE LAST LETTER, you know what I'm talking about... and because of that, I was a wee bit scared of starting this book because I didn't want to cry as much as I had in the previous one anymore. That's why I waited until practically the last minute to read it.

This is the love story of Camden and Willow... this is a secretly-in-love-my-brother's-girl romance and vice-versa. It's not a light & easy-read... It's very emotional, raw and angsty. It's sweet and swoony and heartbreaking.

It was relatable because it basically centers on family... it touches on relationships and the complications that goes with it—with your immediate family and others... on how to deal with something beyond your control... on how to deal with grief... and on how our choices affects our lives and the people around us.

I love the book... the entire story is riveting... it's characters are all captivating and the pacing is seamless. I would've wished there was an epilogue because I'm a sucker for those, but, oh well.

To the fans of AL Jackson, JL Berg, Jewel E. Ann and Jasinda Wilder, this is the book to pick up next!
