3.75 stars

I had high hopes for this book. It is the first of a trilogy. While there were aspects of the book that I did like, there were far more that I struggled with. The first being that I struggled with the idea that ten years had passed but the hero was still expecting the heroine to be pining away for him. I realize that this was just an element of the story but I struggled with the plausibility of the story.

I didn't struggle with the actual characterizations as some other readers did. Even though Savage was over-the-top and Candace was not as strong as a lot of heroines, I did like them together. I would have liked the story more if the above-mentioned timing was a little more plausible. The story moves at a very fast pace and at times the transitions between scenes jarred me out of the story. However, the story had suspense and tension which kept me reading which says something about this author and her ability to write a compelling story.

Savage Hunger, book one of the Savage trilogy.

Enter Rick Savage, surgeon, killer, lover, friend and protector. He's found his way through some dark times and landed with Walker Security. When his past comes back to haunt him it opens up old wounds. This opportunity gives him a chance to right the wrong from eight years ago when he walked away from his heart. Now it's time to protect her and tell her the truth.
Candace Marks was broken when he left. She's barely put her pieces back together and she's definitely in over her head with her "engagement". Yet how can she trust that Savage isn't going to leave her again, something she will not recover from. And with the danger increasing she had to trust his killer instincts.

Savage Hunger is a great story of love, sacrifice, passion and mystery. An instant love connection began for Rick and Candace until tragedy struck...taking Rick in a new direction and leaving Candace behind. Eight years has passed and a debt that Savage must repay takes him back to San Antonio and into Candace’s life. Someone is plotting her fathers death and Savage will do anything to protect her. Love this fast paced adventure from the beginning to the...cliffhanger! 🤨

How did I not know about this book before? I loved it so much. I cannot wait for the rest of this trilogy. It sucked me in and even though cliffhangers drive me nuts, this one will be worth the wait.

Thank you Netgalley, the author and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

There is no denying that Lisa Renee Jones excels at writing intense, heart-wrenching and often brutal stories that reel readers in from very early on. And readers should never read her books if they aren’t prepared for a cliff-hanger ending. Savage Hunger ticks all the above boxes. Gripping and power-packed from the get-go, this is a story that you’ll either love or hate. For me it was in between the two, as this is a lot of pages for the first third of one story. This story left me with mixed feelings, as I never really decided whether it was thrilling or annoying. I guess I’ll need to read the next one to be sure.

An amazing star to a new trilogy series! I am so glad Rick Savage's book is here. I have been looking forward to his books for quite some time. Ever since he first made an appearance as part of the Walker Brothers Security team. We have seen snippets of him in several stories. Enough to understand he has a wicked sense of humor and is still pining after a woman he loves to this day. I was quite surprised and enjoyed seeing a very different side to Savage. "Rick" is a very carrying and passionate man from the one known as "Savage". As you find out, no one knows him like Candace does. Before he went off to war he was a fun and loving man. He hasn't had it easy with the kind of father he has. Candace thought he was her forever. Things happened that put her in danger and Rick thought the best way to protect her was to not return. Eight years later that no longer is true. Rick finds himself returning to his home own and face to face with the woman he still loves. Candace is still hurt by what happened, yet finds she still loves Rick. Rick has vowed he is not leaving her again. With the help of the Walker team they are determined to solve the mystery of why Rick has been asked by an old friend to collect on a debt owed and what it all has to do with Candace's father and the man she was trapped into agreeing to marry. The passion Candace and Rick have is still there. The connection is strong. I can not wait to find out what happens next for Rick Savage. Such a complex and wonderful character.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This book really has it all! Suspense, romance, second chances, & steaminess! I really enjoyed reading this book, though be prepared for a cliffhanger! Savage and Candace are perfect for each other. They’ve been apart for 8 years, when Savage comes back to town to do a job. He believes he’s a killer but Candace thinks he’s the hero... I love that you get a glimpse of their pasts. There’s also a lot of action and keeps you in your toes wondering what the heck is going to happen next! I definitely recommend this book! I’m ready to read book two!

Savage Hunger is the first book in the Savage Trilogy, by Lisa Renee Jones. I won't lie, Jones' books are my favorite. She was the very first author I read in ebooks.
Savage has been a support character in some of the other books by Jones. This trilogy is Savage and Candace's story.
I loved this first book and I can not wait until the other two books come out. Jones has a way of writing books that gradually suck you in and never let you go until the end. This is definitely a trilogy not to be missed.

Who doesn't love a good second chance romance? I do, rarely find one's that are worth my time to read. Lisa Renee Jones has always given good characters, strong male leads that toe the line between obnoxiously OTT and alpha. But just as her males are perfect for the story she gives fantastic females. They're strong minded, make awful door mats and always make their males work for it.

Savage Hunger is a great read with strong world building and secondary characters that caused me to head over and purchase their books. Be warned... This is a three part story. We're left at a high stress moment waiting for the next book. It's not bad. Actually I'm left anxiously waiting for book 2 because I NEED to know what happens.

Rick Savage, but they call him Savage and for a reason. He can make you laugh and then rip your heart out. No one knows that more than me, Candace Marks, the woman he left bleeding from the heart. When I started reading I couldn't put it down. Lisa Renee Jones is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can't wait for the next book

Ive never read books from this author before but I enjoyed it. I'm not into reading books with flashbacks because it's a little confusing but I still reccomend trying this series. I look forward to the next one!

Sexy and hot! A guy who not only takes charge but knows what to do with it! Savage is a different man than he was but now there is a threat against the only woman he's ever loved. The same woman he left almost a decade ago with via letter. Now he's back to rescue her and end this threat permanently. And once he sees her is isn't going to leave. The only problem, she's engaged to a very high profile man.

The single reason this book has four stars instead of five is because you wonder the entire book why no one catches them in these embraces.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Love this author!!
Finally Savage!!!
Full of mystery, action, hot romance, all combined together equals my favorite kind of read.
" Why are you here alone, Rick Savage?"
" To meet you. I just didn't know it yet."

Cannot wait to read the next one!!!

I didn't enjoy this one at all. None of the characters were likable and so misleading with how they acted around each other. The plot was very confusing to follow with the flash backs and everything.

This book drew me in I haven't read any of the previous books but I believe the savage has been a character in other books by this author after saying that I had no problem following this story at all. The writing is tense and deep and draws you in Its one of those books where you will just read another chapter and before you know it it's 3am and you have read the entire book but be aware this book does end on a cliffhanger so if that isn't for you be aware.

Savage is a rough tough alpha that is until he meets the woman that brings him to his knee's then for her he is everything soft and cuddly even though he broke her heart when he walked away from her. Now he has returned and she is engaged to another man a man that could destroy but not on savages watch Be prepared for a lot of drama you won't want to put this one down

What a great read, and even better to get to the end and find out that it is part of a trilogy - even better. I guess I'm going to classify this as a Military Romance, which is not something that I have read a lot of. I love the Rick Savage character and the organisation that he works for seems like there are going to be a lot of shenanigans. I hope eventually the two main characters will get the romance and happy ending that they deserve, but I guess we have to wait a while to find out about that one. Cant wait to read the next books in the series and hopefully it is not too long a wait.
