Third, and last, in a series but readable as a standalone although probably a reader would get more of the story if all three read in order. Our heroine continues to do her bit by flying aircraft around the country to where they are needed and is promoted to flying large 4-engine planes. Her husband, recently wounded so no longer actively flying, is based near her so they have the luxury of being together much of the time. It's 1943. Essentially a story of their gentle romance with times of tension - she's away flying, colleagues are killed and they can't conceive. They do find their dream home, once there's an upstairs toilet and a new kitchen installed and so on, but the old lady from whom they bought the house, and who remains as a sort of housekeeper, is murdered - as a witch there are plenty of suspects for this. All mixed up with occasional visits from various family members, family trauma, husband feeling guilty that his wife has money, and a lot of war-time, quite decent, cooking as they have chickens and veg in their garden. They always seem to find chocolate and butter too! Thanks to NetGalley and Aria for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
