I recieved a free copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book was charmingly sweet. I have enjoyed anna Bennett's books and this one is no different. Reese has become earl after his brother is killed in a hunting accident but he is also tormented by his time as a soldier. Sophie runs the Underground Debutante a group from women to come together each week and discuss the latest Debutante Revenge article. As the group grows Sophie must find another location for the group to meet, an abandoned trailer shop seems perfect, except for the unusual price spending the night each week with the Earl. Sophie and Reese were really sweet and I loved how sophie helped Reese overcome his nightmares. Both characters felt like real people and the books pacing never made it feel long and drawn out. Reese also had some of the most romantic gestures.

A little different story for the time period .
A sweet easy fun read about Sophie and Henry and their situation.
Love the Ladies of the Underground,
enjoyed reading.

This is the first book I have read by this author. I think it is the final book in a series of 3. It wasn’t a book that required you to have read the others in the series first though.
The story moved at a good pace and the usual happy ending was great, but the premise that a lady would be given the level of freedom that Sophie was allowed in that time period was very unbelievable. As usual the americanisms in the story grated to me as a UK reader.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.
When You Wish Upon A Rogue follows Sophie Kendall, who is enjoying her time with a secret group of women, known as the Debutante Underground, who meet once a week in private to discuss all matters that are deemed unsuitable for discussion in polite society. She needs to find a new place for them to meet though, and a nearby tailors, which has been closed for some time, seems to be the perfect building. However, when she has a look around the shop, she is found by the owner, who is willing to let her use the space, as long as she helps him to overcome his insomnia, which is only stopped when she's around. The owner happens to be Reese, the new Earl of Warshire, and he is battling his demons since he came home from Portugal. A major in the army, he left his commission when his brother was killed in a hunting accident, and is feeling guilty that his brother died, and he's alive, and that men from his unit were killed after he left. Only when he's with Sophie can he ignore his worst fears, and feel like his old self. Sophie is happy to help Reese, but she's soon to become engaged - to someone she doesn't want to marry, but has to to help her family with their financial issues - and the more time she spends with Reese, the more against the match she is, as he seems to be perfect for her. Can they find a solution before it's too late, or will Sophie have to marry Lord Singleton?
This book was such a quick read, simply because I didn't want to put it down until I was done. Sophie was a really fantastic main character, and I really felt for her situation. Her two best friends had made love matches, but because of her alcoholic and gambling father, and her elder sisters childhood illness, she needed to marry, and marry fast. She had resigned herself to a loveless marriage, hoping at least to be comfortable, but once Reese came along, she couldn't think of anything worse. She didn't fall for him straight away, but as soon as she did, marrying Lord Singleton was the worst thing she could imagine, but she couldn't find any way to stop it. Reese was a brooding character, who I think was suffering from PTSD, and wouldn't let himself be vulnerable, but you could see Sophie breaking down his walls the more she helped him with his sleeping issues. Their relationship was definitely believable, and I was rooting for them from the get go. Like I said, I needed to see how their story ended before I could put the book down. This was my first book by Bennett, but it definitely won't be my last.

Sophie is a leader of the Debutante Underground society, which while scandalous for the time was just a women’s group to talk. After outgrowing their current location Sophie thinks she’s found the best place for their meetings, an abandoned storefront, however when she gets there she’s shocked to meet her own “Beast” Reese. Having recently returning home from war and taking up the family title upon the death of his older brother Reese is a man shattered by PTSD. After finding calmness and peace in the presence of Sophie he strikes a deal with her, spend one night a week with him and help him sleep (truly just sleep) and she can use the store for her meetings. While truly shocking for the time she agrees and as they spend more and more time together their feelings grow. Unfortunately, Sophie is already engaged. How can she choose between what’s best for her family and what her heart desires. This is a nice, sweet historical romance touching on some heavy topics like the PTSD and while there’s lots of mythological references to Hades and Persephone, Reese and Sophie reminded me of “The Beast” and “Belle.” The only downside was home much Sophie kept from even her friends about what was going on, otherwise a nice sweet read. 4.5 stars. I received an arc copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley for my honest review.

When You Wish Upon a Rogue is the third book in the Debutante Diaries series by Anna Bennett. A historical romance that sweeps you away to another place another time. Full of emotions that are sure to make you laugh and cry while leaving you wanting more. When You Wish Upon a Rogue is full of heartbreak, second chances, hope, romance, and heated passion. A well-written story that pulls at your emotions and you just don't want to put the book down! I can't wait to read the next book in the Debutante Diaries series.

A very sweet, simple story based on the myth of Hades and Persephone. Not very meaty, but perfect for a light, feel-good read.

I found this book to be a very enjoyable read with the good storyline and wonderfully created characters that kept me totally captivated until the turn of the very last page!

This would be a 5 star but I took half a star for predictability. Sophie and Henry were fantastic characters. Henry's PTSD was realistic. Story was steady paced. Had great romantic and deep feeling scenes. Really enjoyed the descriptions of the garden. Overall a fantastic read.

Enjoyed it

I look forward to reading the other books in this series.

I received an early release copy from #NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Oh. My. Word! This book was amazing! About halfway through the book, the author made me cry. The writing is exquisite with her taking you on a beautiful ride of many emotions. I appreciate the friendship of the three repeating characters and the new women introduced in this book.
Sophie and Reese are by far my favorite of this series. Sophie is a rule follower (which makes me happy). She chooses to help Reese because he can't sleep. Even doing something that would be questionable at best for the time period, Sophie still creates rules. Rules she thinks she needs to survive the amazing chemistry that she and Reese share.
Reese's demons are realistic and well developed. I appreciate that he has growth through the book in facing the truth of his past and the possibilities of his future. Sophie's growth is different, but shaped by her interactions with Reese. They truly are a great match for each other (not only physically but also emotionally).
There is a really well developed sub-plot regarding some side characters and how their choices affect the main characters. (I'm trying not to give too much away, but it makes for a really nice twist at the end.)
Sophie and Reese have a wonderful interaction right off the bat. The author gives a slow burn plot, which makes their story extra special somehow. Their interactions are witty and magical. By having only 12 hours a week to get to know each other, they really get to the heart of the matter and do not dither on weak/flighty topics (to which I say a hearty THANK YOU!).
I would highly recommend this book, and I plan to read it again!

This book was a nice quick read. The main hero had a sad storyline and it was nice to see him connect to the heroine.

First off, suspend belief a young debutante would repeatedly meet a gentleman and travel to his estate where her soothing presence helps him find sleep. Or having secret weekly meetings in the evening with a group of women of all classes. Put that aside and you may enjoy reading how the h and H become better acquainted.
I really like Reese. Aside from his unrealistic demands on her time he was a sort of tragic-romantic figure. Sophie - she's ok. I've no strong feelings about her.
There are numerous HR stories wherein the h must make a dreaded match to save her family financially. Thankfully we see little of Sophie's ungrateful family.
I'll rate this an OK; not re-read worthy.
I received a free advance copy from netgalley and voluntarily post this review.

Sophie Kendall agrees to help Henry Reese, Earl of Warshire, to overcome his insomnia if he gives her use of his abandoned shop where Sophie could hold her meetings with the Debutante Underground. As they spend more time together, they form a loving bond.
A well-written, emotional read. There’s heartbreak, hopelessness, heated passion and facing your deamons.
I received an advance reader copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I requested to read and review this book from St. Martin publishing company. I was so excited to read When you Wish upon a Rogue! I had read one of the other book in this three part series. But don't worry even if you haven't read any of the other two books you won't be lost. This book includes some of the characters from the other books but has the main focus on characters Sophie and Reese! This book will definitely get your blood pumping with romance, mystery and the surprise at the end you won't want to miss out!! There is some great history in this book that you will want to read about. This for a mature readers only.

This was a fair enough distraction for a day or two read. Regency Romances tend to follow the same mode, which is what makes it such a decadent appeal to many. we absolutely know how it all ends, and just sit and wait for those feels to hit. I enjoyed the angst, the push and pull of it all once the heroine meets her soulmate. Sophie has an edge to her, she has a secret story, a secret side that she cannot reveal. That was a great premise, it gave the atmosphere a sense of forbidden.
Unfortunately, the plot twists and external struggles these characters faced were just too predictable and dull. I felt as if too much continually was made out of nothing. The urgency of a marriage, the work of maintaining a secret society, the demands of taking care of a lethargic family did not seem realistically insurmountable for a lady with Sophie's station and drive. It just did not add up!
With all of this said this book did not miss swoon worthy moments, beautiful Balls being attended and the brooding love interest we all love to watch unfold. These moments made the read worth it.

If you can buy the idea that there is a group of women from various classes who meet weekly to discuss a newspaper column that purports to be advice from a debutante about relations between men and women and what questions a woman should ask herself before she chooses a spouse, you will enjoy this romance. Sophie leads this group and she encounters Reese who suffers from terrible insomnia due to his guilt from having left his regiment to come back to England after his older brother died and he inherited the earldom. He finds that Sophie’s presence helps him sleep. So he lets her use his unused store for her meetings if she’ll keep him company once a week to help him sleep.
It’s all very unlikely and I just couldn’t buy that any of this plot reflects any shade of what would have been possible in Regency England. Meanwhile, Sophie has to marry a rich nobleman to help her family even though she has fallen in love with Reese.
We all know what is going to happen, but you may enjoy this rather unbelievable plot.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

This is a great addition to this series. It’s nice to get Sophie’s story & see what has been happening for Lily & Fiona. The Debutante’s Revenge reminds me again of why I’m thankful to have been born in this century. :) I highly recommend this series & don’t think you’ll be disappointed with this outcome.

It was a good book, sweet and with a foreseeable plot twist which made the things more interesting. It was also probably the last one on this series that I have found out too late unluckily....
Buon libro, delicato e con un plot twist ampiamente prevedibile, che peró ha reso le cose piú interessanti. Inoltre credo fosse anche l'ultimo di questa serie, che peró ho scoperto troppo tardi....
THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!

This book was pure sweetness. It was full of joy while at the same time brimming with an underlying sadness that gripped my heart. And it was my favorite kind of romance. Where two people just fall in love. It just happens, unexpectedly. Wonderfully and beautifully. I loved it.
Sophie and Reese meet accidentally when she’s trespassing on his property and they have an instant connection. Reese suffers from PTSD and is grieving the deaths of several people. He’s lost and alone and you can sense how much he’s hurting. Sophie is dealing with some personal sacrifices and is not expecting to meet someone like Reese and he turns out to be utterly perfect for her. Because Sophie takes care of everyone. She’s sweetness and light to his dark and damaged. But she’s shouldering burdens she shouldn’t have to and Reese is really the first person to step up and take care of her.
And that was part of what I loved about this story. Because their whole relationship is centered around him needing Sophie. But whenever they are together he forgets that he asked for her help and ends up taking care of her. There are some incredible, romantic moments from this man who is barely capable of functioning when he meets her and it’s a testament to how deeply his feelings for her go.
Their excuse for being together every Friday was absolute nonsense, but I loved that. It was such a facade that it was cute and charming. These two just couldn’t stay away from each other but the had no Earthly reason to ever be in contact with one another if not for their flimsy bargain. It was like that from the beginning, even before they knew it. And once they did know it, they were so far past resisting that they ignored it. They were so drawn together. The pull was so compelling and it manifested in the most perfect slow burn romance.
I’ve never thought to say this about a romance before but the timing in this book was perfection. Anna Bennett built such incredible tension and longing and somehow did it to the exact moment when I found myself wanting the very thing that was being drawn out. By page 60 I was yearning for them to touch. Waiting for it. Thinking about when it would happen. Really dying for it at that point. And just like that, as if the book wrote itself around my thoughts, Sophie tells Reese that a rule of their arrangement must be that they cannot touch each other...even if they both wanted it. God, the tension was already so good and those few sentences somehow knocked it off the charts. There’s nothing I love more than when they are dying inside to be touched and I knew it was going to be a scorcher right there.
The book didn’t disappoint. There is a super hot scene where they don’t touch each other at all. And yet that scene, like the rest of the book, was all sweetness. It’s a sweetness that incinerates you from the inside. Makes you melt and sigh and tingle.
Woven throughout the book is a theme of life and death that manifests itself in a decaying garden that Reese brings back to life through Sophie’s guidance. I loved the parallel of the garden. He brings it back to life, just as she brings Reese back to life. She gives them both something to live for, as if she’s invented a new meaning for air and water and sunshine. And she has, because that is what Sophie becomes for Reese.
One of the things I adored about this book was that there were no lies. No deception. Just two people inadvertently falling in love even though they shouldn’t be. They didn’t deny their feelings. In fact, they acknowledged them and even spoke them out loud on occasion, when the thoughts burned them up inside and they couldn’t bare to keep it to themselves, despite the heartache that continued to grow.
I loved the first half a bit more than the second half. It fizzled a tad but was still wonderful. I would have liked longer chapters. They felt a bit short and I just wanted more, more, more with this book. The book was only 280 pages so there was room there for a bit more development that would have catapulted this book right into the stars.
The sex was pretty good but after such a slow burn, I wanted a little more fire when they finally came together. But it was incredibly sweet and still satisfying. This too is a matter of personal preference and I wouldn’t say it should sway anyone from reading this book.
Its for those minor quibbles that I give it 4 stars. But they are 4 glory stars. This book would likely be 5 stars for many. It just doesn’t quite rank with other books I’ve given 5 stars to, but it’s close.
I loved it and definitely recommend it. It’s perfect for a Sunday afternoon read when you want something just emotional enough to make your heart flutter, but not so devastating that it feels torn right out of your chest.
Thanks to netgalley for giving me an arc of this book!
