Thanks netgalley for allowing me to read this book, you really have been a life saver to me in these terrible times during lockdown.
Yes I enjoyed this rather sad story,
A sadistic family who have children either to starve, beat and then kill them if they do not behave, and bury these children under a rose bush.
The family are brought to justice and two of the children a boy and a girl were put up
For adoption.
Kat the lady who adopted the girl left the boy as she did not want two children, that was a bad mistake.
Imogen the daughter never knew she was adopted until her brother got in touch with her and told her all about her family.

I found like mother, like daughter to be a real page turner which had me gripped.
I enjoyed the different perspectives and I just flew through the book.
It’s shocking with lots of twists I highly recommend.

This started to make me cringe from quite early on, from where Kat has to go to the school to collect her daughter after she has attacked another pupil. All this thinking in the car, just way over done.

The kidnap of Imogen and her mother's attempts to find her without the police made me want to scream, it wouldn't work like that.

None of it was plausible and the twist at the end, while I didn't see it coming, was terrible.

I felt the author was grabbing at things to try and shock you, it did but only by how bad this was. The writing itself was OK, the plot didn't work for me.

I flew through this book it just gripped me right from the start and with some real twists and an ending that totally took me by surprise it’s a read that I completely enjoyed. Told from the perspectives of Kat, Sally and Imogen it’s a thrill of a ride filled with clues that are so cleverly placed it made for a compulsive page turner and what with that shock ending it asked the question of nature versus nurture so well.
Loved the way the book was written, loved the well crafted characters and loved the fact that this was a bit different from the norm.
So an excellent read and one I can highly recommend and a not to be missed read in my opinion and I will be on the lookout for more books by Elle Croft in the future.
My thanks to NetGalley and Orion Publishing Group for giving me the chance to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I could not put this book down! Totally gripping, full of twists and turns, building to a crescendo and then an absolute brilliant, unexpected climax. So clever. Absolutely loved this book. Would highly recommend.

I flew through this. Different perspectives and a fast paced plot make a really easy read!
I wanted to explore nature versus nuture- does having serial killers for parents make you violent? Or does the prejudice of your adoptive parents and their treatment make you violent? I think this could have been explored in more detail.
The pace was good, plot and characters kept me engaged. A good thriller!

Like Mother Like Daughter was one of those page turner reads, where the pace is pretty perfect and the story unfolding extremely intriguing.

The premise on which it rests- adoption of the child of a killer and thereafter being concerned she might turn out like her mother- allows for a layered domestic drama which Elle Croft manages well, plenty of twisty moments and written beautifully.

The 3 way narrative keeps things moving, there's a healthy dose of unpredictability and overall it's a read in one sitting piece of literary entertainment.

Recommended.

This was a really great book, told from three perspectives of Kat, Imogen and Sally. Kat loves her daughter but is disturbed by her change in behaviour after she disappears one day, you know something is going on and there is a big secret but not what to begin with, as the story goes on the picture becomes clearer and you learn more about their lives and what has gone before. Sally is trapped but has some strong links to the outside which become a big part of the story.

As history unfolds this tells an interesting story around nature and nurture and the true nature of people. There are some brilliant twists and it was difficult to put down. Some great cliff hangers where you find yourself holding your breath as you turn the page and some great psychological insight into the minds of others and how they have been damaged.

The ending is one of the best I have read for ages, leaving though-provoking questions around whether people are born evil or nurtured to be that way.

Highly recommended, this book should be the first off your to be read pile!

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. This was a great read right from the beginning and kept me hooked until the end. A story told me 3 separate women. Would recommend.

Ellie Croft certainly knows how to put the thrill in a thriller. 'Like Mother, Like Daughter', is a literal page-turner that simply oozes with suspense. Then there is the tension which builds and builds to unbearable level, until the stunning, final denouement. What intrigued me about this book is the perennial question of nature vs nurture, which is at the heart of this intricately plotted psychological thriller. Put simply, are we born or made? Is that certain something which makes us who we are hardwired into our DNA, or, does a confluence of other factors, like upbringing, for example, contribute more persuasively to who we are. These ultimately unresolvable questions are intelligently wrapped around a thriller-like format by Ellie Croft. It is the core of the mystery of who we are, and the core of the mystery of the tangled interplay of human relations of the main protagonists in this book. Kat has two daughters: Imogen and Jemima. All straightforward, apart from the fact that Imogen is the biological daughter of serial killers. Imogen's lineage is the catalyst for greater scrutiny from her adoptive mother, Kat. Is the scrutiny warranted? Nature or nurture? What is not in doubt is that Imogen's biological heritage is about to catch up with her.... Can Kat protect her daughters from the insidious evil that threatens to destroy all their lives? I'll leave that for you to find out. What is not in doubt is that this is a corker of a thriller that will hook you from the get-go. Tautly-plotted with an all pervasive air of menace, this is a psychological thriller that really lives up to its billing.

Wow! Such an amazing book, that builds up and up - and when you think you’ve read the climax and next will be the aftermath, it twists again and there’s a shocking and unexpected climax. I absolutely loved this book, it was unputdownable! Fabulous fabulous fabulous.

I really enjoyed reading Like Mother, Like Daughter. It's told from the points of view of Kat, Imogen, and Sally. As the plot builds at the start of the novel it's clear there are secrets in the past lives of all the characters. As the story picked up pace and the past was revealed I was quite shocked about what had gone on, and found it all terrifying and creepy. The timing of the story means that the reader finds out how much danger the characters are in as they go to meet their fate and I was left with a continual unease that it was all going to get so much worse for them.

There are some deeply flawed, evil characters in this novel. However I think Elle Croft handles some difficult and troubling issues in a sensitive way, and created a balance in those characters by offering the reader an insight into why they may have ended up so damaged. The twist at the end leaves an interesting question around the extent people are 'born evil' or a product of their upbringing.

Overall - a fantastic psychological thriller that I couldn't put down. Highly recommended.

A story told by three separate women Kat, Imogen and Sally.
Kat is worried when her teenage daughter Imogen starts to behave badly and then she goes missing. Kat then finds out that her daughter has recently had a DNA test done that would have shown that she was not her biological child.
A psychological thriller with twists and turns.

I enjoyed reading this book and I felt that the story was well executed.

The characters had depth and added a lot to the overall sense of the book and it was very enjoyable to keep turning the pages.

A quick-paced novel which is told from the perspectives of the main 3 female characters; Imogen, a teenager, Kat, Imogen's adopted mum , and Sally, Imogen's biological mum (and a serial killer to boot). When Imogen goes missing after discovering that she's adopted, Kat fears the worst.

This novel had an interesting concept of nature versus nurture when raising a child. However, the characters weren't written well enough for me to care about them particularly. There were quite a few twists, some of which seemed to be thrown in for the sake of having twists.

I found this book to be a quick read, but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it.

I was looking forward to premise of this novel, especially after Good Me Bad Me, which was simillar - but this one didnt quite live up to what I was hoping for. Despite it being pacy and a good page turner, I didn't really engage with any of the characters and the plot twists were predictable. It was a fun, solid read though - a good one for a holiday.

I read this in one sitting. It was a proper page tturner. I'm picturing a lot of people on the beach with this one this year.
The classic story of nature over nurture and is evil inherited.
Sally was a fascinating character, abused and sold by her father, she then goes on to have numerous children and in turn abuse and murder them.she sees this as protecting them from the outside world.
As one of a trio of three narrator's,she's probably who kept me gripped.
The other two, Kat and Imogen are dragged into a story that twists in the right places, and left me at the end with an "I knew it" moment.

Fab stuff.
