Very cute little story to read to the little one before bed. Loved it so much, he wanted me to read it over and over again. One of the most reached for books in our little collection.

I'd say this is a 2.5. While the illustrations are colorful and attention grabbing, the story itself is a little...colonialist. I sort of felt like the story of going to a new place and then inhabiting it with your own culture was too European colonialist for my taste. I know the story is supposed to be about finding friendship from any place, but the vibe it gives is too much of Europeans stealing America from the natives.

While I'm not generally a fan of rhyming picture books, if the plot and illustrations are strong enough I can look past that. The plot here is incredibly simple: a little girl helps a lost creature find it's family. It's a simple lesson in kindness. But the illustrations are simple, rounded, and brightly colored making it pleasant to look at.

When a little girl finds an unexpected fuzzy beast while picking fruit, she decides to help it find home and makes a new friend along the way.

A cute little rhyming story that is part adventure part friendship story on a vibrant island setting. The story incorporates several opposites like day and night, east and west. Kids should love the colorful illustrations, the cute purple yak-like beast, and the exotic island setting. Recommended to littles learning opposites, kids who love imaginative settings, and fans of rhyming text.

It helps the people or children to develop a good attitude and relationship between the animals and humans. I was provided an ARC copy of this book from NetGalley and the publishers for an honest review.

I enjoyed this sweet book. The illustrations were beautiful, beautiful colors. The rhymes in the story were well done. I also think this was a sweet story of a girl that befriended a beast (someone different than her) and helped them, and in return made a new friend. Great message here.

Cute story of finding a friend in a surprising place. Keelee lives on an island and gather fruit for her village each day - rather boring at times. She was surprised by a lost beast one day and rather than run away or fight, they became friends. She helped him find his way home and then they saw each other often.
Trujillo brings fun with rhyming text for lower elementary and preschool readers. The illustrations bring the characters to life and they pop off the page.

Thank you, Oni Press and Net Galley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Lost Beast, Found Friend, is a story about a young girl named Keelee who discovers a fuzzy, purple Beast who is lost and far from home. After the initial shock of seeing something new, Keelee and the Beast become friends, and Keelee decides to help the Beast go back home. They go on an adventure together, through colourful landscapes, and eventually, the Beast is reunited with his village.

I thought everything about this book was super cute. I loved full-page illustrations and all of the bright colours. I loved the story, and I liked that the characters went on an adventure. I liked that the book rhymed, and I think this book would be a lot of fun to read aloud to a group of preschoolers. I think this book could also be good for early readers, because the language used is quite simple, and the rhyming might help them learn some new words.

I thought that both Keelee and the Beast were very brave because they weren’t scared of each other when they first met, even though Keelee had never seen a Beast before, and the Beast probably hadn’t seen anything like Keelee before. I love that they became friends immediately and that this book shows that friendship comes in all shapes and sizes. I also love that Keelee discovers that the Beast's village is just like her own, showing that even though they're different, they're still the same.

Overall, I thought this book was super cute. I loved the bright colours and the story. I think this book would be perfect for any preschoolers who like adventures or different creatures.

Childrens picture book. This was a cute story about a little girl named Keelee who lived on an island and passed her time picking fruit for the village. One day she heard a noise and turned around to find a purple beast eating the fruit she had picked! The girl and the beast became fast friends and Keelee led him back to his family. They were still close enough to visit each other though.

The color palette on this book is bright and inviting. The girl and the beast are almost realistic, but look more like imaginary creatures. The island serves as a colorful background, but there is no interaction with it or any other residents. Overall a cute story about friendship despite differences.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review an advanced copy of this story.

Lost Beast, Found Friend is a cute picture book about a little girl Keelee who lives in a village by the sea and finds a fuzzy purple beast. She befriends the beast who is sad because he is away from home. The two work together to get the beast home.

This was a very colorfully illustrated book that kept my 6 year old engaged. It had a good message about making friends with someone who is different than you too.

Fantastic colorful story for toddler teaches "Up, Down, Left, Right, Morning, Night" and more!

This is a good style for babies-toddlers, large text and highly colorful pages filled with complementary colors. I loved it for tiny ones to sit in lap of adult and read and learn. A tropical island holds sweet beasts, and friendship fun blooms.

Highly recommended, fresh and welcome!

5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and to Oni Press for an ARC for review. Honest opinion given.

We loved this book! The colours are vivid and really match the exciting and fun tales this book has to offer. It shows how the unknown can turn into something beautiful, especially when it means making new friends. The adventure they go on together, is really lovely and definitely created a story Ada wanted to hear again.

Keelee is a little girl who lives by the sea with her family. Her chore is to pick fruit for her family. One day, while picking fruit, Keelee meets Beast. Beast is a big, purple, fuzzy creature who is very friendly. He is lost and Keelee decides to help him find his way home. Keelee and Beast venture through the forest and over the hills to make their way to Beast's village. Eventually, they find Beast's family and realize Beast's village isn't far at all. Beast and Keelee maintain their friendship and Beast ventures back to Keelee's village to play and eat fruit.

Overall, the rhymes were sweet and the colors and images were beautiful. While this was very cute, a super fast read, and the illustrations were gorgeous, I didn't find it particularly powerful. There wasn't much of a message for children and I think advocating for chores or acceptance of others could have been done a little more effectively.
