I thought the writing of this novel was great! The author did a fabulous job describing the characters and the setting. I really enjoyed reading about London. The way that the author (Nicole Macaulay) described London made me want to travel there. I imagined myself visiting some of the places Lucy visited, and perhaps even finding my own cafe to go to everyday. 

I thought the overall story was good, and it was a fun quick read, but I did not love it. I found the plot almost too far-fetched. Between Cary, Oliver, and the honeymooners I found that there was a lot going on. I’m also not sure how I felt about Cary. Sometimes I liked him, and other times I found him a bit selfish. I really liked Lucy. I thought it was great that she decided to do something spontaneous. 

I think this is a good read for people who currently cannot travel, as the author paints quite the picture of London and Paris.

Honeymoon Alone was such a cute and fun book. At Lucy's sister's wedding, a psychic tells Lucy to follow the signs of fate. As fate would have it, that means a trip to London at Christmastime! 
Lucy, who never does anything spontaneous, flies to London and embarks on an adventure that she will never forget. I could relate to Lucy's character, who wants to abide by the rules but also needs to throw caution to the wind and try something fun for once. I adored the camaraderie between Lucy and Cary, who helps Lucy pull off a fake honeymoon, as well as the growing relationship between Lucy and Oliver, who starts off as a surly protagonist but turns into someone much better. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the day when I can take my own trip to London and Paris for Christmas!

This was a fun, easy, sweet read. It should really be advertised as a Christmas book though, because it's a perfect holiday read.

My big complaint is the use of the word "midget". Unnecessary and very offensive.

What a delightful and breezy read! Like most romantic comedy books, this has your typical girl needs new life/goes on adventure storyline. However, there’s just a little bit of intrigue that keeps you flipping the pages.

Honeymoon Alone by Nicole Macaulay is the perfect escapist read for another monotonous day of sheltering in place.  I devoured this one over the course of a few hours, so light and breezy was the author's conversational narrative.  I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a joyful, uplifting read.

Lucy Gray has never strayed far from her comfort zone, content in the bosom of her large and involved family.  But when her sister books two honeymoons rather than one out of an abundance of preparedness, Lucy cannot resist the opportunity to take the new bride's place on the unused honeymoon to London.  For Lucy, the journey represents more than a trip across the Atlantic.  It is an awakening to the need to pursue a more fully actualized and fulfilling life.

This is a sweet, feel-good read that will have you rooting for Lucy every step of the way.  4.5 stars

Lucy is maid of honor for her sister, she has an 80s themed wedding, and also a psychic, who's says Lucy is to start her life and not hold back. 
Her sister had booked 2 honeymoons and forgot to cancel the 1 in London, so Lucy decodes the psychic is right, and she goes on the honeymoon alone. I loved this book. It was funny quirky, with a small twist, just a great read.

This book was such a delight to read. Very light and fun chick-lit. I loved the descriptions of Lucy's trip to London, the dialogues were great and I found myself laughing several times. Highly recommend to fans of the genre.

Lucy never does anything spontaneously so when she decides to take her sister’s spare honeymoon alone, her family is shocked. She lies her way through check in at the couples resort where she meets the very rude yet inquisitive concierge Oliver. Lucy and Oliver keep bumping into each other around town where they become an unlikely pair of friends turn something more. I rooted for Lucy and Oliver from their meet up and wasn’t disappointed at all.

This was my first book by Nicole Macaulay and I will definitely look for more of her books in the future.  I enjoyed this book - I liked her writing style and it was an easy read.  I read it all in one day's sitting.

This is the story of Lucy - a 26 year old whose family seems to think she will never find the perfect companion.  They ask her constantly if she has met anyone so she finally decides to take a co-worker to her sister's wedding just to get them to leave her alone.  But much to her disappointment, her "fake date" is caught making out with her cousin at the reception and he even leaves with the cousin.  Well, this starts the family talking to poor Lucy even more so because they now feel like she was dumped at her sister's wedding.

Her sister, who is obviously a little OCD, booked two of everything for the wedding - two churches, two reception halls and two honeymoons.  She had cancelled the second choice for everything - except she forgot to cancel the second honeymoon, which Lucy didn't realize until just after her sister left for the real honeymoon.  So Lucy does what any person suffering from constant family criticism would do - she takes the second choice honeymoon trip alone.  While there, she experiences for the first time travel to Europe, keeping up with the charades that she is on her honeymoon since the hotel will only cater to honeymooners, kisses from multiple men, and even being chased by the police.  I found this book charming, funny, endearing and just plain fun.

This was a lot better than I was expecting. I'm not entirely sure what I was thinking after reading the back, but I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.

The story was cute, easy to read and follow, and refreshing. I've seen comparisons to The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren, and I understand completely. Just like that other book I wasn't able to put this one down. Chapter after chapter I wanted to know what she was going to get herself into next.

Lucy herself was very relatable because she was willing (for the most part) to throw herself into a situation that she wasn't completely comfortable with, and I've been in the same position before. Actually, I've done that in London (and other parts of the United Kingdom) as well, and I definitely understood her panic and intense determination at times.

There were a couple of things that stopped me from giving this story five stars. Those being the ending, and the book cover. The entire book was cute and sweet, and as much as the ending was cute, I felt like we should've had more. It just ended, and left me trying to turn more pages but there was nothing left. I think it could've ended better with an epilogue to help wrap everything up. As for the cover, the entire book is around the Christmas holiday and New Years, but the cover shows her in what looks to me like summer attire when she wore thick sweaters and tons of layers the entire book. Even though the cover is nice to look at, and actually caught my attention when I saw it, I found it a little confusing, especially when I like to be able to see the story in the cover that it is portraying. Maybe it was just me that noticed this.

As for this author, I can now say I'm a fan. This was her debut novel, and I was impressed. I will be looking forward to more of her work in the future. I liked the way her words flowed on the page, and how they are easy to follow. When I am looking for a fun romantic comedy, being able to continually read page after page in important to me, keeping me engaged with the characters as well as the story in general. 

All in all, I enjoyed it, and Nicole Macaulay did great with this story. I will most likely read it again, and I would recommend it to someone looking for a cute story that would give them a smile.

This is a funny, loveable book. I couldn't put it down. The characters are very well written along with the story. 

Lucy is a young woman who is stuck and not sure how to get unstuck. She can't seem to find love dispite being a die hard romantic. She also craves adventure, but is afraid to step out and get it. Then to add to the maylay, let's add some crazy relatives, and a date who you catch making out with your cousin at your sisters wedding. Although this is just the push she needs to go on that adventure that she has been craving. Lucy takes a trip to England after discovering that her sister forgot to cancel her honeymoon plans (you have to read the book to find out how this is possible). Although just up and leaving isn't like Lucy it is exactly what she needs, even though nobody, even me the reader, can believe she actually left. 

This book was a funny and wonderful read. I saw that there is a movie on Netflix and now that I have read the book I can't wait to watch it.

But I must say, I was quite surprised by how it turned out. This book has so much more to it than meets the eye! I was expecting just a subtle romance story, and I got so much more than that. Of course, we can't talk about those things without spoilers, so you will just have to find out for yourself!⁣

One thing I noticed right away is how invested I was with the story. I had only read a few chapters and I already was rooting for our main character, Lucy. She truly steps out of her comfort zone and takes a chance, and that is something to be admired.⁣ Her adventures are truly heartwarming, as you can see it is changing her life for the better. ⁣

There are many plot points in this book, which makes it pretty easy to read quickly. I read this book in less than a day. The romance was super cute, especially since there was no insta-love... woohoo! A+ in my book.⁣⁣

A fun and well-written book - although I found it difficult to emotionally connect to the characters/story, I still enjoyed reading it overall.

This was a charming read, which I definitely recommend for those with a travel bug and are dreaming of traveling during this pandemic. Oh and of course if you enjoy - what I like to call - romantic comedies in book form, with all the cheesiness and *aww* factor included.

Lucy has never been very spontaneous. When a last-minute psychic hired for her sister’s wedding recommends her to stop ignoring fate’s signs, Lucy decides to take her sister’s spare honeymoon reservation. Little does she know that the hotel is exclusively for honeymooners. Join Lucy on her romantic adventure across the pond where she runs into an old high school crush, a suspicious concierge, and a bit of trouble.

I enjoyed the interactions of the characters in this novel, especially the friendships and family relationships that are highlighted – Lucy’s family has a blog which I think is too cute! I also enjoyed the wonderful descriptions of Lucy’s adventure across London – I felt like I was strolling alongside her!

Brilliant, brilliant!

The main character, Lucy, is tired of being predictable and decides to go out of her comfort zone. When her sister, Marian, forgets to cancel one of her two honeymoons, Lucy takes the chance to go on an adventure in London. There in London, she encounters a number of people, ranging from an old classmate she hasn't seen since high school to a rude concierge whom she keeps running into. 

I really enjoyed Lucy's interactions with the people she meets because the conversations she has are so delightful. I think that one of the best parts about this book is definitely its humor. The reader also gets to see posts that Lucy's family publish on their blog, kind of like a little commentary on what they think of Lucy's unexpected vacation, and the stuff they write is hilarious. There's romance in this book as well, and I was thoroughly happy with the way things turned out. 

All in all, great book!

Honeymoon Alone has it all: personal growth, an unexpected romance, and a shocking crime. I enjoyed the slow burn romance, and I was pleasantly surprised with whom Lucy chose. The story has twists and turns that kept you guessing until the very end. I really enjoyed how the characters main growth was not overshadowed by her love story or a result of her relationship with anyone. At its heart, this novel is truly a book about learning to love yourself. All of the amazing things that Lucy experiences are a result of her self-discovery. Additionally, the beautiful descriptions of London make me want to go on my own trip there! When I finished the book, I realized that nobody was who they seemed to be at first glance. So, that begs the question, who is Lucy? Read to find out...

This book is about a woman who decides to takes her sisters honeymoon in London alone. The honeymoon was originally booked for her sister as a backup honeymoon. The book takes you on a journey through London.  Theres some humor. It reads predictable. I was kind of disappointed.
