What a cute story!
Lucy is a by-the-book person, letting life happen to her. The psychic at her sister's wedding (a hilarious idea) encourages her to take a chance, and so Lucy ends up on her sister's backup honeymoon in London.

There's a love triangle, a mystery, strong friendships and family ties. Lucy is a relatable character trying to figure out what she wants and how to get it. Her family feels grounded and realistic - being the youngest of five kids, it makes sense she's struggled to find her way.

Overall this book was a bit predictable but I certainly enjoyed the ride.

This was such a cute story! I've been living vicariously through books that include international travel! I enjoyed following Lucy as she experienced her first time in London and Paris thinking back to my own. I loved the Romance and even a little thrill toward the end of the book!

I just reviewed Honeymoon Alone by Nicole Macaulay. #HoneymoonAlone #NetGalley

This was a fun, quirky book about finding yourself by letting go. I LOVE novels that feed my wanderlust. So traveling with Lucy was a delight. She had such an upbeat, relatable spirit to her, I couldn't help but root for her.

If I'm being honest, there wasn't a lot of substance to the story itself, however, I wanted a light fluffy read to distract me, and this was perfect. It will make you smile, it will make you laugh, and it will tug at your heartstrings. The side characters are fun, and the writing is truly amazing.

I wish there was more to Lucy and Oliver, but I didn't mind that in the face of watching our main character grow and develop through the journey!

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review!

I liked this book. It was about a woman, that has never placed herself out of her comfort zone, but an opportunity was arisen when her sister double booked her honeymoon. So, she decided to travel for the first time and hijack the second honeymoon destination. The main character is vulnerable, and it shows how she grows and has an optimistic outlook. The romance was subtle; it is a friendship to lovers. The twist at the end was not too expected and it was nice to be surprised. I also really enjoyed the banter between the main character and love interest.
Overall, this is a good relaxing read. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys quirky romances.

I received this book from Netgalley for an HONEST review. Thank you.

Not perfect but not terrible either. A quirky cute story about a quirky cute woman who finally decides to break out on her own. Chaos ensues and love might just be on the horizon

I tried so hard to love this book, but it just wasn’t for me. I found myself not really caring for the characters and not being invested at all, which is a shame. I found the romance lacking during most parts and for a novel that’s set in Europe, I expected more cheeky banter!

Any story that takes place in London draws me in, and after reading the description for Honeymoon Alone, I thought it would be great to read.
Lucy Gray isn't one to do things outside of the box, staying within her somewhat small town world and not venturing out. When she gets the opportunity to go outside of the box, she does it, pretending to be her sister on her honeymoon at a London resort hotel. Despite people drawing suspicion, specifically the concierge Oliver, she finds herself falling in love with exploring the city and learning to be less predictable.
I would say the plot was predictable, as I found the twists intriguing and occasionally unexpected, but I wished that the book didn't go in that direction. The subplot of two criminals didn't feel like there was a flow to it, and I would have loved for some of the side characters, like Cary and Oliver's sister, to not be such one note. I was a little disappointed in the ending because of the twists.
However, the story itself is a touching and fun one, especially to see Lucy grapple with her feelings and the truth. I loved the moments where she was taking photos and her interactions with the other characters, especially with her family. Though I had issues with certain aspects of the book, it was still a fun read about a girl discovering a wonderful city for the first time. 3.5/5

Honeymoon Alone by Nicole Macaulay

I can't say enough how much I fell for the two main characters of this story. At it's core Honeymoon Alo e is a Heart-warming story that will melt even the coldest of hearts. Although this was a quick read for me I very much enjoyed the character development of Lucie and her romantic/not so romantic interest. You'll know what I mean when you pick this gem up. Deep and at times insightful this book is definitely worth a read. I hope to read more about these characters in the future.

5/5 Stars

Thank you #NetGalley and #BooksGoSocial for this book in exchange for my honest review.

Book Title: Honeymoon alone

Author: Nicole Macaulay

Genre: Fiction /Romance

My Rating : ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ / 5 ⭐

Just a plain and happy story. The story is very predictable in every aspect and we could say what would happen next without turning the pages. Yet the writing style is magnificent, very easy going and pleasant to read. Though the story is ordinary I felt a lot of subtle changes in characterization and other circumstances make this book very different from other books in this genre stereotype. But the climax is kind of a bummer which I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes out. Seriously how many more books will have this kind of cheesy and not so practical climax !!! Other than that I like this book. If you want to read something light and enjoyable go for it!

Thoughts while reading :

This section contains subtle spoilers.

The female lead! Usually, in these types of stories, the heroine would be a silly character. But here she is adorable, good-hearted yet knows her game.
And the same way, the family would always criticize the female lead or at least seem like that until the moment she realized they really loved her, but here from the beginning the love and affection among family members are adorable and make us yearn for it.
Even the friend character is designed as matured and responsible one unlike the usual loony types
And the way she enjoyed her trip to London and Paris make us yearn one. The Paris section seriously reminds me, my time over there and I enjoyed it.
After the Paris trip, the story is a usual misunderstanding, an unbelievable stunt which is kind of tolerable.
But the climax is the total cheesy one, which I wish she should finish the story in London itself.

Favorite Quotes From the Book:

“Sometimes it’s really great to just not be yourself”

This book was not at all what I expected and that is just one reason why I loved it so much. Get your passport ready and prepare to swoon!

Lucy's is the maid of honor at her sister's wedding and the control freak bride has planned every detail of her wedding...TWICE! When the wedding is over it's Lucy's job to cancel her sister's back-up honeymoon, but instead she decides to take her first vacation ever and pose as her sister at the fancy hotel. There's just one problem: the hotel is for honeymooners only and Lucy has no groom.

So often, travel romances are a steamy romp on a beach in Fiji with all sizzle and no substance. This book surprised me with friendship, mystery, romance, family, humor, and love! No canned storyline or super-predictable tropes here.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is a wonderful story that makes you feel ALL THE FEELS in the best way. There are great friendships in this book, a suffocatingly involved family, and some life lessons thrown in there too.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I absolutely adored the unexpected twists in this story and fell in love with every character, even the very grumpy hotel concierge! I certainly hope we get to see more stories from these supporting characters in their own books. A series...pretty please?

This was such a fun book. What Lucy thought was going to be a relaxing trip turned out to be an experience she'd never forget. It was great writing and can't wait to read more.

What a fun read, full of quirky yet relatable characters! This book was light and fast paced. I instantly felt connected to the characters and laughed out loud countless times. The story was cute and sweet but also had some twists that I never saw coming. If you like quirky rom-coms with a happily ever after, I definitely recommend Honeymoon Alone! Oddly addictive. It was an easy read but a little predictable but then to be honest not many books aren’t these days. Nevertheless I still enjoyed it and I finished in one day. The story follows 26-year-old Lucy Gray who’s life revolves around her family, friends and a classroom full of third graders. Lucy, after her sisters wedding, decides to take a last-minute trip to London - the very trip her sister had reserved as a honeymoon backup plan. Here she pretends to be her sister and things go a wry.

What I liked - lighthearted, made me laugh at some points, cutesy romance

What I didn’t like - predictability of the storyline (near the beginning for me), some parts were extremely unrealistic, she is committing fraud and there is no repercussions not even a chat!

All in all worth a read.

This book was sweet and fun but nothing exciting or different. It was too long for what it was and the whole thing was completely predictable. You could see the “twist” coming from the middle of the book. The characters were fun and mostly believable. The story was not. It was a cute read for a rainy day but if you want something exciting, motivating or unique, this is not it.

This was such a quick, fun read - perfect for an escape from quarantine life! The characters were all likeable, which is always important in a book like this. I loved going on Lucy’s first adventure with her, and could relate to some of the inner turmoil she feels regarding staying in her comfort zone vs exploring the world. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a light-hearted, pick-me-up type of read!

This was a fun book, mostly. Lucy doesn't want to be predictable so she shakes it up and takes a trip. Most of it is predictable with extras added in. It was all going good but the end, it really sucked. I was disappointed.

Sometimes you just need a lighthearted easy read. This was one of those for me. It was slow to start, but I enjoyed Lucy and Oliver’s story.
