A fun and sweet story of magical animals who are drawn to children who can help them fight evil magic. I think this will definitely appeal to transition reads from early stories to full chapter books.

This is a middle-grade, early reader book, and the start to a new series. We have star animals who need star friends (humans) to pair up with to help stop the spread of dark magic. The introductions are pretty hokey and typical of books written for this age group. However I was surprised that near the end things get a bit darker than I expected. It's very predictable who and how this will end. On page 10 before we even know about magic you'll be able to pick out who the 'savior' is gonna be. But that doesn't dissuade me from thinking there can be some great future stories here.
Definitely the kind of book/series that could get children loving reading. I'm going to get this one for my 7-year-old niece for sure as I love the itsy bit of darkness in the end and the friendship of the girls is even and well done.

Please note: I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is an honest and unbiased review.

This book was so insipid that I stopped reading it as a bedtime book with my 8 year old daughter and gave it to her to read on her own. It's perfect for young readers who like fantasy, magic, animals, etc. and no harsh realism. The main characters are three girls who have magical animals choose them as partners to save the world from dark magical forces. The girls are supposed to be in sixth grade but they honestly feel more like kindergarten kids to me. It's all fairy tale stuff in the most G-rated, fantasy sort of way, exactly the sort of world that some very young girls (not to be sexist I'll add boys, but it's clearly marketed towards little girls) would think was perfect. Black and white illustrations complement the text. This series isn't going to win any writing awards but it's probably a good way to get some young kids reading.

I viewed a digital ARC of this book for review.

Saccharine and fluffy in my opinion. Other readers clearly disagree, given the five star ratings, but I was bored from the word go. It felt like someone had tried to case an adventure film with Precious Moments figurines.

Mia is having a hard time with the loss of her grandmother. She meets and talks to a magical fox in the woods. This fox (Bracken) becomes her star friend. They join with her friend and their star friends to learn magic and destroy dark magic.

This book was very cute and I think that children around the 2nd grade would love this book. It has a lot of thinks to learn form. Mia's grandmother has just died and she must get over that loss. This could be an important book for a child in the same situation.

I love the importance that this book puts on family and friends.

The Star Animals come to earth to find humans who have magical capabilities to help them combat the use of magic for ill intent. Maia and her friends happen to be those humans. Bracken, the fox with indigo eyes, pairs up with Maia first. Then Bracken's Star Animal friends pair up with Maia's friends and begin to teach the girls how to use the magic they already possess, but do not realize.
A fun, easy to read and interesting series for readers approximately ages 7-9 who like fantasy. Linda Chapman transports the reader to a magical place in the woods where animals teach kids how to use magic, and prepare them for more adventures to come as the animals and girls embark on their mission!

An enchanting tale of lovable animal Star Friends who come to the human world to help create harmony by preform miracle and spreading love. Full of magic, rich characters, beautiful imagery, and colorful illustrations. Mirror magic was wonderful transition book for my 6 year old daughter as she moves from fully illustrated books to partially illustrated chapter books. This book has all the key ingredient to draw in young readers and keep them captivated,

We are eagerly awaiting the next book in this engaging series,

5 starts with a G rating
