Light Shines on Promise Lodge is a warm hearted Christian love story.. I recommend it to readers who want this type of story. I recommend that the promise Lodge series is read in order of publication.

This is the last book in the Promise Lodge series. Anna Beachy has found refuge at Promise Lodge and has settled in with her life after her husband has left her. Then comes a new Bishop who thinks things are too progressive and wants to shake things up and change everything the people have established in the community.

Add to that, Anna's husband returns and wants her to leave the Amish.

This story was interesting and shows the deep faith of the Amish. I recommend this book to read and see if Anna is able to convince her husband to stay or if she leaves with him.

Hubbard reflects on reconciliation and forgiveness as the main themes in this book. As we see the characters stuggle and come to terms with relying on God and his wisdom, we are reminded at how we should rely on God to be the center of our home and life.

Charlotte Hubbard is a new to me author. I don’t know how she never made it on my tbr shelf, but that is no longer the case. I absolutely loved Light Shines on Promise Lodge. Annabelle’s husband, Phineas, has returned to her after leaving the Old Order Amish. He tired of their bishop’s restrictive ways. Promise Lodge is a community of Old Order Amish, but they are far more progressive. Another newcomer has come to Promise Lodge, a bishop who says they are too progressive and will lose God’s favor. I could not put this book down. Even though this is apparently the conclusion to the Promise Lodge series, I was not confused at all and really got to know the characters. I will go back, however, and read the books in order. I am now eagerly awaiting the author’s new series. Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington for the copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

I have enjoyed this series, by Charlotte Hubbard. Although, each can be a stand alone book, I think it is much nicer to read them in order and really understand the ins and outs of the characters.

Bubble, Bubble, toil and TROUBLE!!!! Trouble is what we seem to have at Promise Lodge and it's community!! A new bishop to stir the pot, a husband returned from his wayward ways, and young love that needs a study in it's own way!!

A few twists and turns....not a smooth road....and the detours are always the lessons to be learned!

I enjoy Charlotte Hubbard's writings and this was not disappointing. Sit back, relax, get a warm drink, a nice candle, a warm blanket and enjoy the journey you are about to take!!

I received a copy of this story through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.

We must believe in things seen and unseen, and be grateful for God's bringing us the light of the world in Jesus Christ- a light that the darkness will never overcome.

Annabelle has found refuge in an Amish community at Promise Lodge. A community that encourages the women that are seeking a redemption. A community that might look to be progressive but live out their faith to all community members. Annabelle husband had abandoned her and she is making a way with the leaders by faith. However, when her husband Phineas appears, he makes a claim on his wife. Annabelle is not quite taken with this claim. In the midst of Annabelle's troubles, another visitor of the community Bishop Clayton has made a claim of his own. He has a word from God that the community is in grave sin and he is here to redeem the community. Their progressive ways have lead them to this grave sin.

The community has many colorful characters that reveal the true heart of God's people. God desires worshipers that worship in spirit and in truth. There is much deceit going on and in wisdom, the people of Promise Lodge rely on God's wisdom to find the truth. Many valuable lessons to be learned with Promise Lodge! Highly recommend.

A special thank you to Kensington Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

This is only the second book in The Promise Lodge series I have read, but I do want to go back and read them from the beginning. One of the great things about this book was the way it tied into The Amish residents of Willow Ridge from the Simple Gifts series. You do not need to read that series to enjoy this story, but I liked revisiting some of the characters. Promise Lodge Missouri is a unique Amish Community where women are allowed to own businesses, even after they marry. Annabelle Beachey has moved to Promise Lodge after her husband abandoned her to become English. He finds out where she is and shows up to try and get her back. He never stopped loving her, he just didn't like the expectations of their Bishop. At the same time, Bishop Clayton King shows up claiming he was sent by the Bishop Council as it is apparent they are too progressive and need to change their ways. He is going to see to it that they do, as well as collect fines they need to pay to the council. Of course, all is not what it seems.

I enjoyed this visit to Promise Lodge. There are weddings happening, new businesses being set up, and families moving in. All is going well until Bishop Clayton King shows up. The characters are loving and trusting, but some are just a bit nosy and that is fortuitous for them. This is a beautifully written and heartwarming story about love, hope, faith, forgiveness, and second chances. The plot is well-developed and well-paced. The characters are all likable, except for King, and believable. There is a bit of a mystery in this one that adds a couple of unique twists. There is more than one romance in this story, but they are all sweet and I was happily rooting for a positive outcome. This is a delightful read with themes of friendship, forgiveness, second chances, romance, independence and faith. I recommend this one to those who enjoy a good Amish Romance.

I enjoyed this series as it showed a side of strong Amish woman that you do not see a lot in Amish fiction. Light Shines on Promise Lodge is a great ending to the series. You are not left with any cliff hangers and as with every book in the series, it is a clean read.

I really enjoyed seeing Gloria's character grow up through the series and come into a fine young lady. She is a character that will stay with you and make you see the younger generations in more understanding light. She reminds us that we were all younger at one time and might not have made the best decisions.

Each book can be read as a standalone but I think you get more from the series reading in order.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, Kensington, through NetGalley. Any and all opinions expressed in the above review are entirely my own.

This story tells us about a estranged married couple trying to see if they still could get back together and if their opinions about life could become compatible.

I have loved this series written by Charlotte Hubbard and I’ve looked forward to every visit to Promise Lodge.

This book has quite an interesting storyline, and there’s a surprise twist later in the book that I didn’t see coming. As the members of the Promise Lodge Amish community deal with a distressing turn of events, the younger members are dealing with the ups and downs of falling in love. Nothing in this story, whether it’s romance or church matters, goes smoothly. Bishop Monroe realizes that he needs all the wisdom that God will grant him as he struggles to preserve their Amish community. As matters seem to get worse, the community realizes that they must draw even closer together as friends and to God.

I loved the themes of reconciliation and forgiveness in this book. More than just an excellent story, it’s a good reminder to us of how God’s love should look in our own families, churches, and communities.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This book is part of a series and though I recommend reading it in order you do not have to. But once to read one you will want to read them all. Beautifully written with such vivid imagery and memorable characters.

As I'm finishing my current review book "Light Shines on Promise Lodge" by Charlotte Hubbard.
I'm reminded, not bc today is the day of the Resurrection, but every day.
God gives us all chances-some numerous- to prepent our sins. To listen with our hearts and yes there are times when that's hard bc Satan wants us to listen to him. We must be still and know that He is God. That He will guide and protect us always. "'We must believe in things seen and unseen, and be grateful for God's bringing us the light of the world in Jesus Christ-a light that the darkness will never overcome.'" (loc 3516)

I wrote this on Easter Sunday. I still feel that the above words still holds true for the over review that I have for Charlotte Hubbard's book Light Shines on Promise Lodge.

I received a free copy from NetGalley with no money exchange, only agreeing to an honest review. This is my honest review in my own words.

Oh boy, does Charlotte Hubbard know how to give you your money's worth in a book. Her stories are plotted with great detail in this mythical little haven. Add in a few questionable troublemakers and some strong faithful residents and you've got a fabulous kettle of excitement boiling! I loved this book! A must read!

Another visit to the Promise Lodge, worth the read. Love continues to grow throughout the community despite a new threat to the leadership. I loved how Annabelle grew as she realized what she was truly missing. This story included a few life events, life lessons, and life-long loves. It was a detailed look at the Amish life with some excitement to be had and things to celebrate. I enjoyed it.

I received a copy of this story through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.

I was so excited for the opportunity to read Light Shines on Promise Lodge, as the Promise Lodge series has been one of my favorites by Charlotte Hubbard. I eagerly await each new book Charlotte Hubbard writes! It is much like attending a family reunion, each time I read about the Bender sisters, their new husbands, and the endearing families living in the Promise Lodge community. Annabelle, a newcomer who was abandoned by her husband, is warmly welcomed into the community and quickly feels as if she is a valued member of the "family". Her new friends help her start a new life, and also they support her when her husband returns and shocks her with his requests for them to leave the Amish altogether. Another story that unfolds within this new novel is that of a newly arrived bishop, Clayton King. He attempts to lead t he community although Monroe Burkholder is already the bishop. Deep controversy arises when Clayton harshly critiques the liberal "policies" that Promise Lodge adheres to. These concurring storylines in this novel make for a compelling read, one I have already enjoyed a few times! I cannot recommend Light Shines on Promise Lodge highly enough!

5 Stars: 5/5 Star Rating
How lovely to visit with my friends at Promise Lodge again! What an exciting visit it was too. Annabelle's husband arrives to reclaim the wife he abandoned, even though she is reluctant to leave her faith and blindly follow him. Bishop Clayton King arrives on the scene and begins to stir things up as well when he plans to change everything in the settlement as he feels they are on their way straight to hell due to their progressive ways. Wow! How on earth will these issues resolve peacefully? I loved this book. I read them during our days of social distancing due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and the book was a balm to my spirit. Forgiveness and second chances abound in the pages of the book. Several delicious recipes are included at the conclusion of the book that were used by the characters of the book. I might just have to prepare some of these while social distancing too.
I received a digital ARC of this book from netgalley and Zebra Publishing. All opinions expressed are my own.

Promise Lodge is a unique Amish community. Single women run businesses and everyone gets along. Some have businesses that might raise eyebrows. One of their members is trying to mend her broken heart after being abandoned by her husband. When he shows up, followed by a Bishop with strong opinions that throw most everyone for a loop! Who is right? What do they both want?I won't spoil the story, but it is a good one! You won't be disappointed!

I love this series by Charlotte Hubbard. After so many books I know the characters intimately and they seem like friends. In this book, as always, romance is in the air but trouble has come to Promise Lodge in the form of a Bishop from Pennsylvania that is causing turmoil among the flock.

Whether you are a fan of Amish fiction or not, this series is good reading and this author is very good at her craft and I invite you to try reading this series from the beginning.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
