I very much enjoyed this novella. This time, instead of Bailey finding a body, it revolves around a theft. Of course, Bailey has to get involved. The book, being so short, didn't have many suspects so it was easy to figure it out. Nonetheless, it was nice to meet Bailey's parents and see Juliet involved in making wedding plans for Aiden and Bailey. I look forward to the next full length novel in the seroes.

Another excellent edition to a wonderful series! Full of twists and turns that leaves you wanting more and enjoying each moment until the end when the killer is caught!

Botched Butterscotch is an easy to read novella with the Amish Candy Shop mysteries by Amanda Flower.
It's Mother's Day week-end and Bailey's parents are visiting. Hoping for a quiet week-end for the visit, Bailey has planned to take her mother to the village tea at the church. The tea is going along great, when it is discovered the money from the fundraiser is missing. Bailey jumps to help the deputy investigate who would steal the money. Thus doing so, her parents find out she has become an amateur sleuth. As always with Flower, you get a bit of humor and twists and turns.

This is a fun in-between story from the Amish Candy Shop Mystery series. It takes place between Toxic Toffee and Marshmallow Malice, which comes out the end of May 2020.
Botched Butterscotch takes place at Mother’s Day. Bailey’s parents come for a visit and there is a mother’s day tea for which Swissman’s Sweets is providing desserts. The tea is a fundraiser and when the donations are stolen Bailey investigates.
It is a light mystery with no deaths. Juliet and Jethro are a large part of the story. Bailey’s mother gets a bit uptight when she finds out Bailey has been helping to solve murders. Aiden hardly makes an appearance.
I enjoyed this light fun read that makes a statement for helping those coming out of drug addiction recovery.

An Amish Candy Mystery #4.5

Mother's Day is busy for candy shop owners Bailey and her Amish grandmother in Harvest, Ohio. And this year is busier than ever with Bailey's parents coming in for the weekend as well as catering a Mother's Day Tea.

The Mother's Day Tea is a benefit for Abigal's Farm. A place for women recovering from addiction. Not everyone is on board for having "that type of place" near their homes. The money made will allow their work to continue so when the box of donations disappears during the tea, Bailey is there to "assist" the new Deputy with his first case.

All the while Aiden's mom, Julia and Bailey's own mom are planning their wedding and they aren't even engaged!

I love this short book. It's like a phone conversation with friends, just a quick catch up and I'm happy. I think Amanda may be the only person I've ever read that can successfully blend the Amish and Comedy!

I was more than happy to drop in for a short visit to Harvest (I'm planning a longer trip at the end of May….which i’m super excited for!!). I always enjoy time with Bailey, Maami , Jethro (my favorite pig), the rest of the gang, and of course sampling all the goodies at Swissmen Sweets! The Butterscotch peanut bars are TO DIE FOR...maybe I shouldn’t use that phrase in a town that sees its fair share of murder lol….anyway no worries the recipe for these delicious bars is included. It’s mother's day weekend and Bailey’s parents are in town to share the special day. Bailey is helping out with a women’s tea to celebrate the occasion, and fundraise for a great cause Abigail’s farm. Things are moving along splendidly, great company, food, sweets, speeches, and lots of giving! Splendidly that is until someone sticks their hand in the cookie jar...ok so actually it’s just a donation box...forgive me the bad puns lol. Without that money Abigail’s farm can no longer provide the amazing sanctuary, and services they offer to vulnerable women in their time of need. Well of course Bailey couldn’t just sit around and do nothing….and since I was already there…..

My thoughts:
This book as always with this series was great!! It was just perfect to tide me over until the next book is released on May 26th...can you tell i'm looking forward to it??!? The characters, setting, and coziness of this series make it one of my favorites!! I was really glad to get the chance to meet Bailey’s parents...what a great addition.

Just a sweet tidbit to hold us all over until Marshmallow Malice is published. It's Mother's Day in the mainly Amish village of Harvest, Ohio and Bailey's parents have returned to their hometown to celebrate at a luncheon raising funds for farm/post-rehab center. When the money raised disppears, Bailey steps up to save the farm by finding the thief. It's very short and a quick read, yet most of your favorite characters, including Jethro the pig, make an appearance.

Any time that I get to spend with Bailey and her family and friends is time well spent. I really enjoy how well they all get along and how close they are. And getting to meet Bailey’s parents was just an added bonus. I am afraid that her parents and Aiden's mom are going to be making plans for a wedding before Bailey and Aiden even get engaged.

The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these descriptions pulled me into the story from the very beginning. I felt like I was right there, watching all the action taking place. And although there was no dead body (which was a nice change), there was still the mystery of who stole the money. There were a few people who could have been the culprit, and I enjoyed trying to figure it out.

I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a well crafted novella. You cannot go wrong reading anything by this author.

I thought this was a fun and delightful addition to the series, and the perfect little filler story to tide readers over until the May 26th release of Marshmallow Malice. I absolutely adore this series, and it's always a pleasure to spend time in Harvest with Bailey and the gang. Amanda Flower is a very talented writer, and when you pick up one of her books, you can always expect plenty of laugh out loud moments, well-developed characters, a charming setting, and a mystery that will keep you guessing.
I highly recommend this series. As an added bonus, mouthwatering recipes are included at the end.

Bailey's parents were in town for the Mother's Day weekend and a fund raising tea was held at the Church. Everything raised for the women's rehab farm was stolen, and Bailey is on the mystery. The story is wonderfully resolved in a truly refreshing manner. I'm grateful that the next offering from Amanda Flowers is already in the works.

This is a fun novella in the Amish Sweet Shop mystery series. I have read every one of the stories thus far, and I have to say this is on par with the rest. Bailey King is living in a small Amish town called Harvest. She helps her Amish grandmother run the Swissmen Sweet Shop. Bailey did not grow up Amish.

When a Mother’s Day tea for a local charity is interrupted by the theft of the charity’s proceeds, Bailey steps in to help police investigate. This story has all the characters we know and love, including Jethro the pig and his owner Juliet and her son Aiden Brody. It also introduces us to Bailey’s parents.

I thought the story was fun and a quick read. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves the Amish Sweet Shop series, although I think this would be fine as a stand-alone story, as well.

Centering mostly on Bailey's visiting parents and on a local theft, this book feels rather lightweight. Maybe that's always the case in a novella? The dialog felt stilted to me, but other than that, it was a quick, escapist read. This was fine for an in-between read. It wouldn't inspire me to read the full-length novels if I didn't already know from experience that they're much better, though.

Once again Bailey is up to her elbows in candy and crime. She helps her Amish grandmother in her candy shop which is practically the heart of the community. Bailey and her grandmother are making sweets for the mother's day tea which is a fund raiser for a woman's support group. Sometime during the tea, someone with sticky fingers runs off with all the money raised. Bailey is how on the trial of the thief as is deputy Aiden. Both their mother's attend the tea and are conspiring to get the two young people married - too bad, the kids aren't even engaged and have hardly dated. A fine addition to the series.

This was a quick , cute, novella in the Amish Candy Shop series. Bailey's parents have arrived to spend Mother's day weekend in Harvest, Ohio. Bailey along with her grandmother, cousin and her mother attend a Mother's Day Tea to benefit Abagail's Farm, a home for women to recover from addiction. During the tea, the money that had been raised goes missing and everyone asks Bailey to help find it. This was a quick read for me. I really liked seeing Bailey's parents interact with Juliet. I love everything that Amanda Flower has written and this was no exception. I can't wait to read more.

Margot Rawlings, community organizer has organized a Mother's Day Tea fundraiser for Abigail's Farm. Abigail's Farm is a retreat started by Polly Anne Lind in honor of her deceased daughter, to provide a safe haven for women recovering from drug and alcohol addictions. While staying at the farm the women learn how to farm and also rebuild their lives in order to enter back into every day life. Many community members support the retreat but a few of the neighboring farmers are not happy having the women living among them, fearing that their children will be exposed to addiction and the value of their properties will decline.

Things are going well at the tea, Bailey is happy that her mother, grandmother and cousin Charlotte have come to the tea along with boyfriend Deputy Aiden Brody's mother Juliet and her pet pig Jethro. That is until someone makes off with the collection box filled with thousands of dollars.

Aiden is busy working another case so he turns the investigation into the theft over to Deputy Little, who seems overwhelmed and unsure of himself and looks to Bailey for help in solving the case. Bailey steps into her role as a mediator between the Amish and the police and sets out to investigate.

This short story focuses on a theft instead of a murder that series readers might be accustomed to, but the author does include many cast regulars and provides plenty of laugh out loud moments with Juliet's meddling into Bailey and Aiden's relationship. I didn't realize when I requested the book that this was a novella and not a full length book, so when I came to the end I was a little surprised - I actually had to go back and make sure that I hadn't accidentally skipped over a bunch of chapters. I'm looking forward to the next installment in the series which centers around the upcoming marriage of Juliet and Reverend Brooks.

Botched Butterscotch is the 4.5 installment in Amanda Flower’s An Amish Candy Shop Mystery series. This is an easy to read confectionery cozy set in the Ohio Amish country, with great characters and an interesting and entertaining mystery. The story flows smoothly, and the author is very talented in her descriptive and witty writing. There’s no murder in this novella, but the mystery was difficult to solve. I was surprised when the culprit was revealed.

Bailey King gave up her job as an assistant chocolatier at JP Chocolates in New York City to move to Harvest, Ohio to help her Amish grandmother after her grandfather passed away. Bailey isn’t Amish, but her father, who left the Amish community before she was born, was. As a child, Bailey spent her summers with her grandparents, Jebediah and Clara King, and learned to love chocolates in their Amish candy shop, Swissmen Sweets. Juliet Brody, whose comfort pet is a small black and white polka-dotted potbellied pig named Jethro, is convinced her son, Sheriff Deputy Aiden Brody, and Bailey will marry. Bailey will be helping with the tea and is anticipating the arrival of her parents, Susan and Silas King, who seldom visit Ohio. Margot Rawling, the town’s super organizer who has marketing down to a science, is currently promoting a non-Amish Mother’s Day Tea that will benefit Abigail’s Farm, which is a retreat for women who are struggling with drug or alcohol addiction operated by Polly Anne Lind. As part of the weekend, Bailey, her mother, grandmother, Juliet and Bailey’s Amish cousin, Charlotte, are attending a fundraiser Mother’s Day Tea to benefit a local women’s rehabilitation farm. The collected funds are stolen during the tea and Bailey is in the prime situation to figure out what happened and why. This is a lovely series and one I always enjoy reading. I look forward to the next book, which is about Juliet’s wedding to the local pastor. With polka dots and pigs to look forward to, it should be great fun!

No murders in this novella, but there is a mystery for Bailey to solve! Preparing for a Mother's Day tea Bailey hears the main speaker arguing with someone she can't see. When the money raised from the tea disappears Bailey is on hand to poke around and find out who stole it.



I love the Amish Candy Shop Mystery series! And the novella's between novels are pretty cute. Especially when Juliette's pig Jethro makes an appearance. Bailey is a Nosy Nellie, but she usually finds the culprit in the mysteries she sets out to solve. I like her curiosity and her determination to help right the wrongs done to people. I'm quite a fan of the recipes at the end of each book! Check it out...Butterscotch Peanut Bars. I'm definitely going to have to try these out!

This is a short story in the Candy shop Amish mystery series. It is Mother’s Day weekend and Bailey King is on edge as she is anxious for her parents to come into town. She feels her parents think she has taken a step back in her life by moving back to Harvest Ohio to work at Swissmen Sweets. Funny introductions when her parents arrive and then Juliet and Jethro and then Margo as she is working the fundraiser the next day (Mother’s Day Tea) that Bailey has bought tickets for her Mother, Grandmother and Charlotte. Juliet really is a hoot and she wants to start discussions on Bailey and Aiden’s wedding with Bailey’s parents although they are not yet even engaged. Saturday arrives and Bailey is already exhausted as her parents wanted to get up early and visit some of the local areas they remember growing up. Bailey has to get to the church early to set up the sweets donated by Swissmens. The Mother’s Day tea (fundraiser) is going off without a hitch until the donations are stolen. Deputy Little is sent over to work the case but Bailey has to help and she eventually saves the day. This is a cute quick mystery and gives us an introduction to Bailey’s parents. The next one should be Juliet’s wedding and can’t wait to see what is going to happen there. Love this series.
