"Within this collection of short stories by esteemed horror author The Behrg you will discover a haunted house that is not quite what it seems. A trophy collector who prefers living statues to cold ones. A truck driver who, with one good deed, finds more than he bargained for. And a world where happiness can no longer be felt."
A really interesting concept - looking forward to reading.

I have to admit that I wouldn’t describe this book as entertaining, as the stories are really bleak and raw. This is purely my personal preference though. I do appreciate the Author’s Notes at the end, it’s always nice to get a look at the original ideas behind the stories.

The Passengers You Cannot See is a collection of short horror stories by the author known as The Behrg. With 15 short stories, including one novella this an incredibly diverse offering of different genres within the horror realm.

I appreciated the authors versatility, but the overall voice wasn't for me.

I wasn't familiar with this author but there were some real stand out stories in this collection. Some truly creepy and original, as with all short story collections there were some that didn't fit well with the others, but still a good time.

3 Stars!

I had never read anything by The Behrg before but something about The Passengers You Cannot See just leaped out and caught my attention. This was a collection of short stories and I figured it would be a good way to see what the author’s work was like. Unfortunately, things took a wrong turn and it took me forever to get to the collection but I was finally able to pick up the book and hope that I would find another author that I wanted to read more of once I finished it.

The collection opens on a high note with “Driven” and I was immediately pulled in. It almost seems as if this story was written to fit the title of the collection. This is a very dark and odd story of a late-night drive that had a Twilight Zone vibe as well. There is an art to putting together a collection of short stories and kicking off with this story hit the nail on the head. Not only was it a good story in its own right, but it also served as an introduction of sorts to what was to come. The Behrg was in control of this journey and the reader was just along for the haunted ride.

“Every House is Haunted” was a stand-out story to me as it really keeps the reader guessing throughout. What happens when one is trapped in a haunted house? And really, in this circumstance, who is really being haunted and who is doing the haunting? This story was an original take on haunted houses and the nature of ghosts. This story is an exceptional take on hauntings and the exploration of where they originate and what they mean. Are ghosts real or figments of our imagination or, even worse, a symptom of a fractured mind? This story is well written and executed and stayed with me for a while after I finished reading it.

The Passengers You Cannot See is a good collection but not one that really stands out above the rest for me. It is very dark and brooding in most places and I do have to admit that while I do not mind that type of story it did begin to wear on me a little bit. There were some other standout stories in the bunch, “Patterns” and “An Ugly Resurrection” come to mind, but there were also some that really just did not work as well for me. Overall, however, it is strong collection and I am happy that I read it. I am sure that fans of The Behrg will enjoy it but I just wonder how many new fans the author will win over with this one. I would be interested in reading more from the author and maybe a longer work would be better suited for me to get into his mind in that manner.

I would like to thank Pricks Like Thorn Media and NetGalley for this review copy. The Passengers You Cannot See is available now.

Most of the short stories in this book are based on writers and authors. My top favorite of the short stories was 'Every House is haunted'. This seemed to be more of a horror story than the others. Some stories I could have cared less about and others I thought were creepy. The writing was excellent and some stories were pretty graphic. Overall I give this 3 out of 5.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and Pricks Like Thorn Media. I was unfamiliar with this author but will definitely read anything I see again. These stories! Some were beautiful. Some utterly haunting and not just from the horror elements but from the human fear and pain. Touches on a wide range of subjects and fears.

First of all, thanks to NetGalley for the free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Well, here it goes. This anthology is not what I was expecting after reading the blurb.

Yes, a few of the stories are quite good, but I really couldn't follow along with the others. Some of them plain on irked me with the angle of storytelling.

DNF two stories. My best picks from this book: The Trophy Thief and Patterns.

A collection of horror short stories with an underlying theme of mental illness. Though the genre not to my taste, the collection will appeal to some teaders.

I had a hard time getting into this book. I didn't really care for any of the short stories. They really fell flat for me.

While I am grateful to the author and publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this title, a busy schedule got in the way, and I was unable to read it before it was archived on Netgalley. I will be looking for a physical copy of this title at my local bookstore!

I really enjoyed this book! I love short story collections and this was the first one I’ve read in a while so it was nice to read something different than what I usually go for.
I thought the stories were very well written and creepy. Looking forward to more of this same author!

The Passengers You Cannot See is a strong collection of short stories! The characters here don’t realise the weight of others that they carry, and in turn the devastation they leave behind. This is illuminated in the first story, Driven, and it’s a theme that flows throughout the book. Both One Star and Kill Your Darlings deal with the dark side of book publishing. Parenthood at its most devastating appears in Still Born, and a horrifying version is shown in the gory fest Reborn.

What sets this collection apart is the way it deals with mental illness as part of its stories. The horror of not knowing what’s real is evident in These Concrete Walls, Patterns, The Lines and Happiness Is A Commodity. My favourite stories are Scabs, a beautiful love story set during a plague invasion; Amado, a straight up nasty creature horror, and Reluctance, about a person making a tough decision, left me with a hopeful feeling.

I have to admit that I wouldn’t describe this book as entertaining, as the stories are really bleak and raw. This is purely my personal preference though. I do appreciate the Author’s Notes at the end, it’s always nice to get a look at the original ideas behind the stories.

First and foremost, thank you to the publisher for sending me a copy of The Passengers You Cannot See. I always appreciate it!

Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the book. Some of the stories were wonderful, but many of them felt lackluster. I cannot quite figure out why so many of the stories did not work for me. But objectively, the writing is beautiful and haunting, and the author crafted some very interesting horror stories. Some of the endings were vague in a way that left me feeling unsatisfied. I did really enjoy Kill Your Darlings!

DNF 46%. I really wanted to like this, as short story compilations are typically my go to for reading on the go, which I often do. But this one really left me wanting. The stories were somewhat intriguing, but the conclusions fell flat.
