Andrew has been murdered! At the scene of the crime is his wife and his ex-wife, both smothered in his blood! Interspersed with the lead up to everyone related to the main characters being at an anniversary weekend celebration are interviews with the police to ascertain who did what when! As the story unfolds it becomes a mystery as to why most of the women in this family are attracted to Andrew - who is selfish and self-serving. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned is a good starting point for this tale. The characters are well drawn and the plot is very well laid - a definite page turner.
Many thanks to Netgalley/Tess Stimson/Avon Books for a digital copy of this title. All opinions expressed are my own.

This book was definitely one that held my interest and then the twist at the end confirmed a five star rating from me! Highly recommend!!

When I call something a beach/airport read, it usually means 'I've sat down with it and didn't move till it was finished', but I know that's considered an insult.

I saw most of the stuff going on ahead of time, but there were a few bits that were unique and interesting enough for me to sit and think 'hmm...how did I not see that coming?'
That said, because it's one of those 'sit down and it's done' reads, it's not challenging, not really. Again, that's not something bad to say, but when I'm reading over 100 books a year, I know in a few months, this one will be a book I might pick up again and only realise I've read it when I start again - which isn't good. I've done that with a couple of my Netgalley books (and if I'm being entirely honest, I actually picked this up when my library reopened, so...it was good, but didn't stick with me? If that makes sense).
Nevertheless, if you want a good, but possibly not massively difficult and doesn't need you to concentrate, and you can put it down and come back to it, or read it all in one go (I think I did it in three hours, cause we were literally stranded waiting in A&E and I grabbed it out of my TBR. And got through it while we were waiting.

One in three marriages ends in divorce. This one ends in murder.

One in Three is my first foray into the stories of Tess Stimson, and I will promptly be checking out her other works to see if they live up to this story.

Straight away we are introduced to Louise and Caz, the former and current wives of Andrew who, it is apparent from the start, is an absolute turd of a man. When he is killed at a family party, both women are found standing over the body but which one killed him?

The story leading up to the fateful party is told from the point of view of both wives as well as Min, Louise’s sister-in-law, alongside police interviews with attendees after the fact. The intrigue is clever woven throughout the plot as the animosity between both women steadily and speedily ramps up. Unusually for a story stemming from relationship betrayal, I found myself rooting for Caz, the original ‘Other Woman’, and was surprised when the culprit was revealed.

Alongside the Whodunnit aspect, there are many twists and turns throughout the book and I honestly could not put it down.

I was given an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I am in the minority here about this book.  We start off with a tense scene, two women in a hotel room with a dead man between them.  One woman is injured and covered in blood. Which one killed the man on the floor?

After that I was confused as there were so many characters introduced at once.  I was having trouble keeping them straight such as which one was Andrew's daughter or who was related to the other characters.

Louise is the ex-wife of Andrew Page and Caz is the current wife.  There are tensions between the two even as they try and play nicely with the relationships. The interviews at the police station reveal more about each woman's personality and you start to get a picture of their lives and how Andrew played them both.  I developed some empathy for characters I previously disliked as the story continued.

I would try another book by this author but I wasn't over the moon in love with this one.  Again, I am i the minority after seeing reviews.

Thanks to NetGalley for the complimentary copy of this book.  This book was published by Avon books UK on July 9, 2020.

Well this was one exciting read! It's certainly an original story too. The beginning starts off with a bang... a murder with two women covered in blood standing over a body. But what happened and why?
One in three centers around Andrew, his ex-wife Louise, and his current second wife Tess and their tangled lives. It becomes a bitter battle of wills between Tess and Louise. Of course Andrew seems to play one off the other and thus it becomes a sick game with all three.
I found the story quick moving and I loved how the story builds up and with more and more being revealed about each character and their background/life. It compelled me to keep turning the pages. There were great twists in the story and an ending I didn’t see coming.
I thought is was well written, great character development, and the story to be original. A great and satisfying read for me.
I read the Kindle version, and purchased the Audible version, so when I couldn't read I could listen. In the audible version I found the beginning to be a little confusing on who was who, but after re-listening the first few chapters that was all cleared up. There were seven narrators, and they all did a great job of each character. Definitely one credit worthy. This is the first Tess Stimson novel I've read, and I look forward to reading her other books. I highly recommend this book or audiobook to who ever enjoys a good mystery/thriller.
*A special thank you to the publisher Avon Books UK via NetGalley for the advanced readers copy in exchange for my honest review*.

Really enjoyable book. I didn’t particularly like any of the characters but that just added to the whole storyline. It kept me guessing right until the end. Look forward to reading more by this author

Brilliant loved it a well-written domestic thriller filled with lies, jealousy, vendettas, deceit. The police interviews were the most interesting.

Finishing this book made me late for an appointment, but I couldn't stop reading! The double twist at the end blew my mind, and when I finished my thoughts were, "Wow, that was sooo good".

One in Three takes a look into the complicated minds of four women whose lives are impacted by one man. There is the push/pull of love/hate of the wife who is left behind. The insecurity the new wife feels as the husband continues to be influenced by his ex. The daughter who is shuttled between two women who vie for her attention. And the ex mother-in-law who treats him like the son she lost.

Throw in a whole lot of crazy and you've got all the plot points for an intriguing thriller.

Thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for an advance reader's copy for review. This was a very engaging read!

On first impressions from the description this story seems to be the classic love triangle - husband Andrew has cheated on wife Louise, she can't quite get over him despite the fact he has married the woman he left her for, Caz. And admittedly for much of the book this is very much what comes across, especially as Louise's mum still insists on including Andrew in family events and ensures he's very much in the children's lives. Louise seems a bit of a pushover and can't seem to get past that last hurdle of letting go completely. Until she starts to toughen up...but will this show of strength be her ultimate downfall? Well, that you will have to find out for yourself as I don't do spoilers.
We find out very early on that things don't go well for Andrew, but with both Louise and Caz very much in the frame for his demise which of them could want him dead the most? Louise because if she can't have him, nobody will or has Caz had the scales fall from her eyes and seen his faults in glorious technicolour? To be quite honest with the constant rivalry between the two women I was amazed it wasn't one, if not both of them who came a cropper. But as we find out there's always more than one side to the story,
The characters were annoying enough and frustrating enough to be very well written, as in they were credible enough for me to want to plan each of their demise myself, and the overall storyline I felt worked very well with enough twists and turns to keep me hooked into the plot.
Whodunit? Grab yourself a copy and find out!!

One in Three by Tess Stimson.

I have read one other book by this author and enjoyed it, so thought I would give this one a go.

This story is told by the two wives of Andrew Page, one current, Caz and the ex wife, Louise. There are a couple of chapters from Min, the best friend of Louise and Ceila, the mother of Louise.

The book opens with a murder scene and very quickly, we discover it is Andrew that is dead. But who did it? A police interview transcription follows with the two wives and these reports are dotted throughout the book. I really liked this perspective and it made you rethink, as most of the characters in the book, are interviewed at some point.

I flitted between supporting one wife to the other. They both had reasons to believe Andrew still loved them or was doing wrong. It was hard to follow both women sometimes as they were both blinded by love for Andrew to see much clearly.

I liked the way each wife pulled away from Andrew and the focus was very much on trying to get payback on the other wife. It sure was a wild ride following the two women, the dramas just kept on coming!

I did start to feel sorry for them both towards the end, I as a reader could see Andrew for what he was.

A great twisty tale about families, trust, love and revenge. I would recommend reading it.

This is a story about a narcissist, Andy who is married to second wife Caz and still keeping ex-wife Louise on her toes. This understandably causes friction between the two women and they begin a battle, trying to outdo each other and be the one that Andy ultimately wants to be with.

But his philandering can’t continue and the women come to their senses. The upshot being that someone has killed Andy, but who did it?

I guessed the murderer fairly early on. However, it didn’t ruin the enjoyment for me. I really enjoyed it - I’ve also learnt what a glottal stop is!! Excellent book and rated 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This book was so good. It starts off with a murder and leads into the story via police interviews in which we learn of Louise Page, former wife of Andrew Page, and his former mistress/current wife, Caz. From there, it gets wild. I don't want to say too much to avoid spoilers, but if you're looking for a quick, intriguing read with a lots of twists, One in Three is one that I highly recommend. I couldn't put it down and will be checking out more works by this author.

This was a very good thriller. Kept you guessing to the end. The characters were very well written and all of them were a little crazy! Ms. Stimson is definitely an author to keep an eye on. I haven't read anything else by her but she will be added to my list. Good job!
I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher and voluntarily chose to review it.

This novel succeeds in having endless twists. However, the writing is not great, and all of the characters except the teenage daughter Bella are pretty reprehensible.

It begins with the murder of Andrew, who is Caroline’s husband and Louise’s ex-husband. Andrew started an affair with Caroline before the bitter divorce. He stayed just until Louise gave birth to their son, Tolly, who is twelve years younger than his sister, Bella.

Obviously when you marry a man who has kids, the ex-wife is going to be in the picture a lot until the kids are eighteen, and ultimately forever. Caroline doesn’t realize that Louise’s family is also going to stay around, especially her scheming, unlikeable mother Celia, who got everyone together for her anniversary weekend at which Andrew is murdered.

This is told from multiple points of view, but no character tells the reader the whole truth because they lie to themselves so much, they believe their own lies. Something happened early in the novel to make me not like Louise. In real life I can’t imagine siding with the mistress who becomes the wife, but for some reason in this book, I had more sympathy for Caroline because she was put upon by the angry ex and the dirtbag who gets murdered. When you don’t care about the character who dies in such an egregious way, I can’t say that I can recommend this book. There were the occasional clichés. Also, the during the police interviews that are injected between the narrative, the cops keep telling the interviewee things that I simply can’t imagine an officer in real life doing. Why on earth would a cop tell a murder suspect what another murder suspect said?

If you want a twisty book filled with unlikeable, untrustworthy characters, this is the book for you.

Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this novel.

Fresh and different, ONE IN THREE by Tess Stimson is a psychological thriller that will keep you on your toes to the very last sentence.

Louise doesn't know if she will ever get over the fact that her beloved husband, Andrew, left her and their two children for another woman, who he has now married and has a child with. It has been four years now and she wants to be over it but she still struggles. Especially when he has remained so close to her family and they have to stay friendly for the sake of their children. It doesn't help that compared to his new wife with her successful career and model looks, Louise feels frumpy and unsophisticated. If only Louise could find some chink in her armour ...

When Caz fell in love with Andrew, she understood that he had children that she would have to share him with but his ex-wife takes it to another level - always looking for more money, asking him to pop by to help, and inviting him to cosy, extended-family events. She could understand Louise's hostility at the beginning but it has been four years and they have a child of their own to think about - why can't this woman let them be happy?

As tensions rise between both families, it isn't long before secrets from the past begin to bubble to the surface, and as horrifying truths are faced and Andrew's dead body is discovered, the question on everyone's lips will be - who snapped first?

I enjoyed ONE IN THREE by Tess Stimson and the premise worked well for me. None of the characters are particularly likeable but they are very believable, which made figuring out whose side you were on very difficult to figure out - which I loved! Andrew is an absolute tool so the mystery becomes a question of who felt pushed so far to the edge, that killing him became their only solution?
While I did figure out the truth, I have to admit that I jumped from one conclusion to another right up the end and I always feel that's a sign of a great thriller.

ONE IN THREE has drama, mystery, heartbreaking truths, and more, and I look forward to Tess Stimson's next novel.

I loved loved loved loved loved this!! Hooked from the very first page, I even found myself waking up at 2am, fumbling for my kindle and reading a couple more chapters! Told mainly from the point of view of ex wife Louise and current wife Caz - I found myself sucked into a roller coaster ride where I didn’t know who to believe, who I thought was crazy, and who to feel sorry for! It was so cleverly written that each incident told by one, was rebutted by the other! I was on the edge of my seat throughout - and the whole build up to Andrews murder (which is where we start) was nail bitingly shocking! One of the best books I have read this year!
