What happened when an Assassin Fallen Angel and Hell's Bounty Hunter met? You get a fast paced, with lots of sexy times in Fury Unleashed. This is the latest series by N.J Walters which has the potential to be as popular as her other series which I enjoyed like Salvation Pack, Legacy and Blood of the Drakon.

Maccus is our Fallen Angel and he's been contracted by Gabriel to kill Morrigan who is bound for 25 years by Lucifer to be Hell's Bounty Hunter. To make the premise interesting, Lucifer in return ordered Morrigan to find and kill Maccus by any means necessary. Sounds easy? Not when both Maccus and Morrigan found themselves to be attracted to each other and all they want to do is get into each other's pants instead of the directives that was given to them.

On the whole I enjoyed Fury Unleashed but then again, I've always enjoyed N.J Walters' works. I would love to have more detailed world building, to be honest, I expected it as much being this is the first book of the series. Usually authors would laden us with loads of backstory, secondary characters etc. However, not so much in this book but that didn't put me off. Having met the Forgotten Brotherhood, I couldn't wait to read their individual stories.

I was lucky enough to received this copy from Netgalley, however, the views above are all my own.

Steamy paranormal romance of an unlikely pair that are fighting the age old battle of good verses evil, heaven verses hell.

This was my first time reading a N.J Walters book and I am glad that I did. Although there were some things that fell short for me and some missteps in my opinion, I am excited for the series to continue. This book reminded me a little ( a mean a little) of Supernatural meets the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. It just had that BDB vibe, except for instead of vampires its angels and demons!

In a urban setting, a fallen angel and a demon bounty hunter soon find themselves crossing paths for the similar reasons. With the idea of how far will you go for the ones you love, this book has an ending that I didn't see coming. There was sexy time, fighting with some pretty bad ass weapons and or course some sassy characters!

The story was told from the perspective of multiple of the characters so you get to see their internal processing and thought stream/reasoning. The main characters fell a little flat and I wanted more from them at times, but they are my favorite combination. The big, bruiting, take no names, scarred male with a snarky, independent and strong woman! I adored Morrigan and she is definitely a fierce female. Throughout all she has faced and endured she still cares so much and it was wonderful. Then there was Maccus who is a sexy fallen angel that has been around for thousands of year and has a scary representation. What she does to him makes me so soft and I just want to hug him!

The different situations they had to go through and the decisions they had to make was well done and you could really feel for them on how they were feeling and the pull inside themselves. The whole storyline between Morrigan and her sister was intriguing. It really allowed for you to see her motivations and overall type of person she was. And how she was able to do what she did

Now lets talk about those side characters. I wanted so much more from Lucifer and Gabriel. I love what Walters did with them and the scenes that they are in! I wish we could have seen more from them and gotten a little more of their backstories and how the issues that came up came about.

It took me awhile to really get into the world. I thought it took Walters some time to really paint that bigger picture and show the world building. I was wanting so much more from the world building. I know paranormal romances are usually about the romance. But this story concept has so much potential and is not something I have read before.

I did also struggle with the fact that we jumped into the steamy moments almost instantly. Be prepared for a lot of HOT scenes! (like they have sex A LOT!) Don't get me wrong they were great, but felt a little "insta-coupley" for me.

There was some explanation to the reasonings for a lot of things, but I felt like I was told it instead of shown it. The story dragged at times and there were times I felt like the characters internal dialogue was repetitive and it stated the same thing multiple times at different points in the books.

If you read this whole review you will see I am a little all over the place. Overall this was a quick and steamy story that left me wanting more. I cannot see what the next book has in story and have hopes that it will be even better and see our couple pop up again. The book was a little predictable but that ending came out of nowhere and shocked me. It was not how I saw it ending. There were some things that I wish were done differently or better developed, but I loved where the story was going and the overall idea. How could you not want to read a book about fallen angels, angels and demons.

Marcus is a fallen angel turned assassin and Morrigan is a former human turned hell’s bounty hunter. They are supposed to kill one another but instead join forces to defeat their enemies Gabriel and Lucifer. Sometimes a bit confusing since this is a complicated world and there are missing pieces that aren’t dealt with especially with Maccus. Hopefully more will be revealed with subsequent books in the series. Morrigan is a kick ass heroine and my favorite in the book. Big surprise reveal at the end explained a lot. A great start to a new series.

Unfortunately this fell flat for me. I was really interested in the story but it all seemed rushed and cliche. I expected more and didn’t get it.

NJ Walters new series is off to an interesting & intriguing start as heaven & hell are conspiring and up to no good starting with setting up Maccus & Morrigan to assassinate each other with the reward being the freedom they both desire. However fate, nature nor Marccus and Morrigan necessarily play to heaven or hell's tune as the attraction that sparks between the two is more of a flash fire. While the start was a little slow as it took time to start to understand both the story's world and the characters motives (other than Morrigan) but as the story continued so did their depth. There is a good bit of sex in the story but it doesn't become superfluous as the often primal nature of it reflects Maccus's own nature and, in this case, actually helps the reader better understand him. Two individuals who have been lost, alone, betrayed and tormented slowly learn to trust and believe in each other and survivalist instincts move from self to other. All this as outside forces work feverishly to oppose them and their building bond. All put together results in a story that is both entertaining and engrossing.

That was simply an awesome read! It had everything, and reviewing it without giving things away, well, let’s concentrate on what it made me feel. It had fast-paced action, so my heart was pumping and it had super sexy times, so my heart was pumping. It had regret, sadness, hope, love, despair, and compassion. It had souls that were nearly completely dark but had a sliver of light, and it had souls that the darkness that had been encountered could not dim their brightness. It had greed and manipulation, duplicity, where there should be none. It was a paranormal readers fantasy with major characters and mind-shifting events, and where good and bad aren’t absolutes. It had Maccus and Morrigan, and it is their story, of their journey, to each other, and to completion. It had everything, and I loved it all!

3 - Muscle and menace... Stars.

We begin N. J. Walters new Forgotten Brotherhood series with a fallen angel and a demon hunter becoming unlikely allies & lovers. Both tasked with killing the other, things definitely don’t go according to plan on either side.

If ease of reading was the only thing I rated this book on it would be a five, but the problem I have is that although Fury Unleashed was no struggle, the promising plot lacked any real depth or development due to the copious amounts of sex taking place between the H/h, ‘is she mad’ I hear you say, who complains about too much sex? Well I do (occasionally), especially when I know the calibre of this authors writing, and while her reads are always sexy, they usually have a stellar plot and background development to balance that out.

"I never had a good thing before…"

"…Until now."

Being the first book in the series, I expected a bit more world building, and although there are several secondary characters introduced, I don’t really feel I know anyone more about them at the end of the book than I did that the beginning, including Maccus and Morrigan because they were literally all over each other from first meeting and were stuck together like two mating dogs for a large part of the rest of the book. Their pasts weren’t touched on much until the last 10% or so of the book, which disappointed me too, because they could have been so much more in depth.

Alas, not a total win, but I am intrigued to see where this series goes, as I said the author is one I can read easily and without much need for a deep and meaningful storyline (like this one) but I know she writes with more depth than this, and I hope the rest of the series offers as much story as it does sex, because as much as I love a good bonk-athon, I like there to be a story to back it up as well.

Fury Unleashed by N. J. Walters
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 out of 5 Stars.

I was given a copy of this book through netgalley and I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was exactly what I was looking for and expecting. It had a good balance of romance/love story and plot. Mortician was an awesome female lead and her tragic backstory forced her to become strong and smart and independent. Marcus was tough for me to fully like. I hated the fact that he would never put his feelings into words. He never told Morrigan that he loved her and she just accepted that and acted like his actions were enough but for me it wasn’t. I needed for him to explicitly say it and he just wouldn’t. So over all I really enjoyed the book. It was an interesting and easy read. I’m excited for book two and to see what Lucifer and Gabriel have planned.

1st book of the series. And it is hot and action packed. The twist are like wow. And the characters explosive. It makes you yearn for the other books.

When you live for more than a millennia, would you risk your life just to stop darkness from being unleashed? Or will you let go and destroy, for the one you loved and lost?

She delivers another book that will surely be waited for. Next book please.

Maccus Fury is a fallen angel. He has lost almost all of his goodness. An old friend shows up and tasks Maccus with killing a bounty hunter. Maccus would have turned the job down, but turns out she's gunning for him also. Hell is going to have to send something a little more challenging if they want to defeat him.

Morrigan Quill is only serving Lucifer in order to protect her younger sister's soul. That is how she came to be a bounty hunter in Hell. Now, Morrigan's at his beck and call, and his demands just keep getting more ridiculous. She's supposed to kill Maccus Fury. This is one battle Morrigan is determined to win, or at least die trying.

There were a lot of things I liked about author N.J. Walters' FURY UNLEASHED. Angels vs. demons, bounty hunters hunting demons, the chemistry between Morrigan and Maccus, etc... I felt the relationship was rushed between Maccus and Morrigan, but I did like them as a couple. I would have liked to have more background info on Maccus and the Forgotten Brotherhood earlier on. All, in all, I thought FURY UNLEASHED is a pretty entertaining read. I give it 3.5 stars.

This is my first time reading a book by N.J. Walters and I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. It's been a while since I've read a paranormal about Angels and Demons and I'm so glad I won this ARC, because now I can't wait for the rest of the series. I felt like this book had a good pace.

Maccus is a Fallen Angel who is thousands of years old. He lives alone and has no real connections with anyone, except his Forgotten Brotherhood through email. The Archangel Gabriel hires Maccus to kill Morrigan, one of Lucifer's bounty hunters. Maccus is a master at bladed weapons.

Morrigan is a human who became one of Hell's bounty hunter's in exchange for saving her sister's soul and is trying to work off her contract capturing Demon's and returning them to Hell. Lucifer personally reaches out to her, with an offer she can't refuse, requesting that she kill Maccus. She has stronger senses and strength than a human and can kick butt.

Maccus and Morrigan start off having great chemistry and she slowly works her way into his heart throughout the book (which seems to confuse him). If quite a bit of sex in a book is not your thing, you may consider skipping this book (or those sections). During the book, we meet another one of the Forgotten Brotherhood, which I'm assuming is an introduction into the next book in the series.

As with most romances, the book was fairly predictable, but I'd still enjoyed it and would recommend it to people who like paranormal romance.

This book was so good! Maybe I biased cause I love angels, fallen one too sometimes. But it's much more than that.

Here's the professional blurb:
Maccus Fury, a fallen angel, is trying hard to keep his sanity. Seems being an assassin might be catching up with him. Now, Heaven, or Hell, has sent a beautiful assassin to kill him. Lovely. She’s pretending to seduce him, and he’s okay with that. She’s smart and snarky––but she has no idea what she’s walked into. And he’s more than peeved that they only sent one person. They’re going to need an army if they want him dead.

Morrigan Quill is one of Hell’s bounty hunters. She sold her soul to keep her sister safe, and now she’s working off her contract by catching bad guys and dragging them back to hell. Just a hundred years to go. When Hades makes her a new offer––that’s definitely too good to be true––she can’t say no. All she has to do is kill a powerful and crazy-hot fallen angel, who will totally kick her ass in battle.

Good thing he won’t see what’s coming next.

It's the first in a new series by author N.J. Walters. The Forgotten Brotherhood. A group Maccus is apart of.
From beginning to end this book draws you into its world and leaves you wanting more.
Their first kiss was amazing and you're only nine percent into the book. So this book moves at a fast pace.
I wondered how these two would end up together despite their mission. I liked the resolution to this and could not have predicted it.
I'm looking forward to the next book in the series and wonder if it's who I think it is.
Love the cover!

I loved the paranormal aspect here, angels, demons, even a rogue vamp, some of them big players you've definitely heard of. I have to say though, I wish there would have been more of it in the beginning especially. I really enjoyed all of those encounters a lot more than the inside of Maccus's bedroom. It was an interesting story line that I'm curious to see continued in following books. PNR is my jam, but I actually would have preferred a little less R in this one...or maybe even more R and less sex. I don't know if that has anything to do with how quick they jumped in the sack or what, but I mean sometimes a lady likes a little build up before blastoff, just sayin'. I feel like the second half had more world building and interaction with other characters which I enjoyed more. The ending took an interesting turn which made me definitely want to see what happens next.

Fury Unleashed is book one in the brand-new Forgotten Brotherhood series by N.J. Walters, and essentially takes readers into the war between Heaven and Hell. While Angels and Demons may not be everyone’s cup of tea, I personally love this genre and was captivated by the world building and vast array of characters that set the foundation for this complex tale. And not to be forgotten; Ms Walters has not only given readers an enthralling story, but a stunning cover that truly portrays the essence of the hero within. I would suggest making some non-interrupted time to read this story, as its very intense and requires your full attention. Enjoy!

Fallen Angel Assassin? Check. Hells best bounty hunter? Check. Physical attraction off the chart? Check. Pitted against each other by each side? Check Check!

Maccus is the best at what he does. With a loose collection of like-minded fallen angels he created the Brotherhood. Now his former friend, the Archangel Gabriel (yes that one!) has ordered him off a demon of Hell. Um maybe not so much a Demon herself, Morrigan just works for the head honcho of Hell, thank you very much!

Morrigan made the ultimate sacrifice to save her sister. But she has years to go on the deal she made with the devil. And we know how good he is at stacking those in his favour! But if she kills Maccus, he'll burn said deal and she'll be free and clear to claim back her life. Easy, right?

Morrigan is not a demon or evil. She just got suckered into a very tight corner and she does her best to retain as much of her former life as she can. Maccus is almost 100% Neanderthal LOL. He is beyond Alpha and you really do expect him to just carry Morrigan back to his cave sometimes! But he has a code of honour and once he and Morrigan realise they are being pitted against each other, they make a very blood thirsty but motivated team.

Whilst the passion between them runs hot, the best thing for this couple is the trust they build in the other. I'm so going to enjoy learning all about the other members of the Brotherhood!

Hello, where have you been all my life?! This books has everything that makes me happy. Angels, demons, fallen angels, vampires, hot steamy romance, and a crazy unexpected but wicked ending. I loved this so much! Ahhhhh!!!! I want, no I NEED more! The story was fast paced and gave you what you needed to know as you needed to know it. There were some wicked twists that left you reeling and that ending was to die for. Lucifer and Gabriel are not what you expect them to be and you can see how they are going to use each other and play off one another in subsequent books. I’m really looking forward to reading more of the brotherhood’s stories and discovering who they all are and how they find their happily ever afters.

Fury Unleashed is book one in the brand new series, Forgotten Brotherhood, by N.J. Walters. I have to admit that first, I was drawn to this book by the gorgeous cover. But then, ladies and gentlemen, I read the book. WOW, WOW, WOW!!! This book pretty much rocked my world, and then some. And now that I’ve finished it, yes, the cover is perfect for the hero of this story! Now, let me tell you a little bit about it!

Maccus Fury is thousands of years old. He is also a fallen angel, the wings ripped from his back by Gabriel himself. Now, Maccus is an assassin for hire, taking out the evil of the earth while padding his bank account. He is alone, always, and he trusts no one. Then Maccus is offered what was to be the chance to earn back his wings. All he has to do is one job, kill one particular red headed woman. Easy, right? Only Maccus knows better. Things are never what they appear to be.

Morrigan Quill all but raised her little sister. But when her sister made a grave error in judgement, Morrigan was forced to make a choice. She chose to save her sister and signed a contract with the devil himself. Twenty five years as a demon hunter in exchange for her sister’s safety. Now, she’s only ten years in. She goes from cheap motel to cheap motel, from job to job. But then she is offered a chance by Lucifer himself to wipe the slate clean. One job. Kill one man. And her servitude is over. She is free.

“What was it about her that drew him? Why her? Why now?”

When Morrigan and Maccus meet, was it chance or was it pre-ordained? Both have learned not to trust anyone but themselves. But neither can deny the strong pull to each other. A chemistry that sparks as hot as an inferno. Even then, both accept the time they have to be together, knowing that one or the other of them will soon die.

“He was the hunter, and she was his prey. And she was more than ready to be caught.”

This entire book was one crazy, wild ride. And I have to mention, that it is HOT! These two burn up the pages. More importantly, though, this is a battle of good vs evil. And if you think you know what I mean here, you don’t. What this also is, is a testament to the power of love and goodness. Of learning to trust, of finding that one little spark of light within you and allowing it to flare to life. This book is one surprise after another and one heck of a surprise ending. I loved every minute of it. I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series. I’ll be right here waiting for it so I can tell you all about it.

After a little slow to start, this book finally took flight. The characters had off the charts chemistry, and the story was both intriguing and mesmerizing enough to hold my attention while dealing with a sick family.

AHHH!! This story was fantastic! Maccus and Morrigan had chemistry in spades! I enjoyed their banter and how assertive they both were. This story was chock full of secrets and revelations and was a great first book in a new series.

I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review.

Was honestly pretty pleased with it! It took a while for me to get into it, but once I did I was sold. I liked the character dynamics, and it was interesting to see how everything developed.
