This is Josie Johnson and Brandon Wade’s story; a standalone, happily ever after, no cheating, historical western romance with some sweet romance.
This well written western romance kept my interest throughout, the characters are well rounded with great interplay between the hero and heroine. The battle of the newspapers was nicely played and made a cute romance between the hero and heroine.
I enjoy this authors books and look forward to more form her.
I received an electronic copy of this book through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

Widow Josie Johnson moves back home to Two-Time, Texas and takes over the town’s only newspaper, the Gazette. Finding fulfilment in her work, all is going well until the very charming
widower and single dad Brandon Wade moves to town to start his own (rival) newspaper. When Josie's building burns down she refuses to give up and sets up a tent much to the annoyance of the town mayor.

This is a very very light and sweet one time read.

At times I wasn't keen on some character reactions such as Josie's dad.

I had a lot of trouble getting started on this book, but I enjoyed the rivalry between the hero and heroine. It was neat to see two newspapers (and people) challenge each other.

A delightful fun visit back to Two-Time, Texas in 1884 where Josie Johnson and Brandon Wade were about to go head to head in a newspaper battle!
Josie, now a widow, had bought the Gazette, the only newspaper in town and been a success! But when handsome widow, Brandon and his daughter come to town and open up another paper, things begin to go from bad to worse. Josie begins losing all her advertisers to him and it really her ire up.
Brandon was trying to find a new life in this small town. But he truly did not mean to run his competition out of town! He suggested they start a almost a sparring match between the two so that readers would have to read both their papers!
I love these old west stories and this one had a lot going on. A little suspense, murder, arson and two headstrong people bound to end up together, Loved it!

Although How The West Was Wed is the third title in the Two-Time Texas series, I had no trouble picking up the series at this point. In fact, I’m now going to grab the two earlier books for my curiosity is spiked for those other stories.

What you really need to know before picking up this book can be found in the cover description. Yet that doesn’t really show you the banter you’re about to encounter, or how two unlikely people in an unusual predicament can find a way for each to “win” in the end. Brandon doesn’t want Josie’s newspaper to fold, yet he also wants his newspaper to be a success – so a bit of a word war begins with often laugh out loud results, slow-burning romance, and characters who come alive on the page. I liked both Brandon and Josie, for different reasons, yet they worked so well together… eventually.

I enjoyed How The West Was Wed, I always know I’m in for a good story with any of this author’s works. If you love a good Western Historical Romance then this story and series should be on your reading radar. I had fun, and that’s the whole point.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

The book starts out with widow, Josie Johnson. She lives in the
small town of Two-Time Texas. Josie owns and runs the
Two-Time Gazette, but all of a sudden has competition
from a new newspaper, the Lone Star Press, owned by the
tall, handsome and arrogant Brandon Wade. Josie is
immediately annoyed with Brandon and his newspaper stealing
her advertisers and customers. Brandon is intrigued by
the dark haired beauty. Brandon doesn't want Josie to
go out of business and comes up with a plan that Josie
is appalled by. However, how is she going to get her
customers back?

The book has some interesting twists that
I wasn't expecting including a murder in this small town
romance. It has been a very long time since I read a
western romance. I have to say when I first started the
book, I wasn't necessarily enthralled. But, a couple
of chapters in and I really started enjoying the characters
This book definitely exceeded my expectations and I found
myself laughing out loud of some of the perdicaments that Josie
found herself in. Overall a great romance read and I would definitely
recommend to others!

Thank you to BookBuzz and NetGalley for the advanced copy
of this book.

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately I was not amused by this Western romance. The protagonists was as uninteresting as the newspapers she writes. Could not get into the flow of the story.

How the West Was Wed is not your typical western romance as it centers around the editors of opposing newspapers in the same town and just happen to be across the street from each other. It takes a bit of teasing and cajoling on Brandon’s part, but he finally wins Josie’s respect, admiration and appreciation. The constant antagonism between Josie and Brandon is quite a lead up to their romance.

There are several interesting story lines, an unsolved murder, the fire destroying Josie’s building, the land for sale along the river, even the sweet initials carved in the tree all add to a sweet story. I appreciated the innocence of Brandon and Josie’s relationship.

Secondary characters added that touch of family to make a homier feel, Haley, Brandon’s daughter, Josie’s parents and sisters and even Mrs. Bubbles and Mr. Pendergrass. I loved the way the community rallied around Josie in her time of need.

This was my first Margaret Brownley book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. She does not make light or too much of Josie and Brandon both losing their first spouses through death. Ms. Brownley puts the right amount of care and remembrance to those past loves. This would be a great weekend read for anyone.

What a surprise!
I expected the normal Western tale of man meets woman across a dirt road name Main St, and it chugs along from there. But not this book. It was filled with female emancipation, care for the elderly, cold case files, arson and a litany of co.plaints of life in a Western town verging into a city. The story was so well written and so accurate, I felt that I was sweating in the Texas heat. The main characters are strong, upright morals, likeable and believable. There were no grammatical or spelling errors, and I hate when there are. This story had a defined beginning and ending, with all if the I's dotted and T's crossed. I will be looking for further books by this author.

Josie is a young widow who now runs a newspaper. When Brandon moves to town, and buys the newspaper shop across the street the rivalry is on. When the two begin feuding in their editorials the towns people rush to buy both papers to keep up with their fighting words. When an arsonist burns down her shop, and a prostitute is killed, she also helps to solve the cases. And naturally, fighting turns to love. Really enjoyed this one, and found it hard to put down. Highly recommend this book, author and series.
