THE GREEN DRESS by LIZ TOLSMA is an exciting romantic thriller telling the true story of the Robinson family murders, which happened in 1886. The characters Harriet Peters and Dr Michael Wheaton really add to the story. This is true crime at its best, and I can highly recommend The Green Dress to anyone who enjoys this genre.
When Harriet's best friend Lizzie Robinson becomes gravely ill, showing the same symptoms as others did in the Robinson family before succumbing to a horrible death, she calls Dr Michael Wheaton, as she does not trust Dr Beers, who seems to make things worse rather than better.
This leads to a great deal of tension in the Robinson household and even makes Harriet feel guilty for making things harder for Mrs Robinson who saved her life by taking her into her home.
Things are definitely not as they seem and more than a little suspicious. I particularly like seeing Harriet and Michael's tenacity in getting to the bottom of the mystery, and Harriet's love for and protection of the children that Lizzie has placed in her charge.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Barbour Publishing. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

I have really enjoyed devouring this series with American Crimes published by Barbour novels. I have read every single one of them. Some I like more than others. But The Green Dress written by Liz Tolsma was a fascinating read. I had a pretty good idea who was doing the harm to the family members. I don't think Tolsma tried to hide the reality of the bad person from us. I was just in awe over the character's ability to do these things to their family. I loved the writing style. Tolsma took me into the story and the setting with her historical research and allowed me to enjoy the storytelling. The concept of the green dress is the novel is a little creepy. See if, as a reader, you catch it before it is revealed. I did! Overall, The Green Dress was a delightful, yet horrible story about a true event in America's history. Fans of this series should pick this one up and add it to their collection.
