I’m obsessed with this series! Suspense, true crime, and Christian fiction - my top three favorite things! This was a genius series concept and once again it didn’t disappoint. Each and every book in this series is awesome.

Something is amiss, perhaps even sinister, at the Robinson house on Holland Street in Somerville, Massachusetts, in 1886. Family members are dropping like flies! Who will be the next victim? Mysterious illness, whispered conversations, and bizarre behavior along with misplaced loyalties, insanity, and self-doubt combine to make a compelling page-turner.
In a suspenseful plot that twists and turns revealing multiple suspects, Dr. Michael Wheaton struggles to uncover the truth and to protect his love, Harriet Peters, who resides with the Robinsons. The romance between Michael and Harriett develops slowly with many ups and downs. The thread of faith is meaningfully woven throughout the narrative.
The Green Dress is part of the True Colors Historical Stories of American Crime series. Most of the characters are real-life, and the author skillfully meshes the real-life characters with the fictional ones which are well-developed and memorable. Ms. Tolsma is a new author to me, and I will definitely be reading her other book in this series, The Pink Bonnet, and other of her works. I highly recommend this book and this series.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via netgalley but am under no obligation to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

THE GREEN DRESS by LIZ TOLSMA is an exciting romantic thriller telling the true story of the Robinson family murders, which happened in 1886. The characters Harriet Peters and Dr Michael Wheaton really add to the story. This is true crime at its best, and I can highly recommend The Green Dress to anyone who enjoys this genre.
When Harriet's best friend Lizzie Robinson becomes gravely ill, showing the same symptoms as others did in the Robinson family before succumbing to a horrible death, she calls Dr Michael Wheaton, as she does not trust Dr Beers, who seems to make things worse rather than better.
This leads to a great deal of tension in the Robinson household and even makes Harriet feel guilty for making things harder for Mrs Robinson who saved her life by taking her into her home.
Things are definitely not as they seem and more than a little suspicious. I particularly like seeing Harriet and Michael's tenacity in getting to the bottom of the mystery, and Harriet's love for and protection of the children that Lizzie has placed in her charge.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Barbour Publishing. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

I have really enjoyed devouring this series with American Crimes published by Barbour novels. I have read every single one of them. Some I like more than others. But The Green Dress written by Liz Tolsma was a fascinating read. I had a pretty good idea who was doing the harm to the family members. I don't think Tolsma tried to hide the reality of the bad person from us. I was just in awe over the character's ability to do these things to their family. I loved the writing style. Tolsma took me into the story and the setting with her historical research and allowed me to enjoy the storytelling. The concept of the green dress is the novel is a little creepy. See if, as a reader, you catch it before it is revealed. I did! Overall, The Green Dress was a delightful, yet horrible story about a true event in America's history. Fans of this series should pick this one up and add it to their collection.

I received a complimentary copy of The Green Dress by Liz Tolsma from Barbour Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.

An entertaining book which keeps you guessing about the mysterious deaths that plagued a family time and time throughout the story. An enjoyable read full of entertaining characters, mystery, and love that develops between a young doctor and a friend of the unfortunate family who finds herself in dangerous circumstances also!
