Discover Jesus is not only an adventure for kids but their parents as well. This very well done bible study book for kids starts with the reason to discover Jesus. The reason why he came, the prophecies that were foretold, where Jesus lived and why he came to the nation of Israel, what Jesus said and did and why, the start of the church and why we have church. The book goes thru the Old Testament to the New Testament with Jesus in mind. With artifacts, pictures, and scripture, you begin to discover the significance of Jesus for this world. The redemption and glory of God. Each chapter has "It's in the Bible! -versus related to what you are reading. Who said that? A brief history of that person of the bible. What does it mean? Truths from the bible and what they really mean. What does it mean to me? Import versus and how to apply in faith.

This is a great resource for family devotion and study. As adults we can struggle to read our bibles from beginning to end so this book can be a catalyst to your bible reading. Discovering Jesus in the bible will increase your faith and make you more aware of the greatest gift we have in Jesus.
Highly recommend.

SAMPLE Discover Jesus
An Illustrated Adventure for Kids

Discovering Jesus is full of answers for anyone looking to find out why Jesus is such a bid deal. Understanding who Jesus is from the beginning is so important in developing your faith. This book is full of guiding Biblical information on who Jesus is from before his birth to now.
I didn’t care for the pictures throughout the book however which were a distraction. They were an interesting mix of Biblical illustration and pictures throughout the ages and it was not appealing to me. They were strange and didn’t leave a great impression or image of Jesus in my view.
I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review, shared here.

First sentence: If someone were to ask you what you know about Jesus, what would you say? You probably know that Jesus was born a little over two thousand years ago in the land of Israel in a town called Bethlehem. And you probably know that He died on a cross so that people could be forgiven for their sins. Maybe you’ve heard some great stories about the miracles He performed, or even the important things He taught about loving God and other people. That’s a good start. But with this book, you have the opportunity to learn a lot more.

This one is written for children as an introduction to the basics of the Christian faith, an introduction to Jesus Christ. It gives an overview of the Bible and how Jesus Christ fits into that big picture of the Bible. Jesus' story did not start in Bethlehem--far from it! Jesus has always existed and participated in the creation. Through the chapters one does get an appreciation for the big picture and what it all means. The language is very basic--which is probably kid-appropriate and only fitting.

The main audience of this one is 8 to 12 years old. I'd say that is about right. It could be used by families with young children in that age group or even in a classroom library at a church or private school.

I reviewed an advanced reader copy in e-book format. As an adult I didn't find the illustrations--photographs of the Holy Land plus Christian art drawn throughout the histories--particularly necessary. They do not add to the 'adventure' of the story. That could just be me--I find the gospel ADVENTURE enough without adding anything to it--even something as harmless as art.

This is a greatly informative and colourful book for children to help them learn about Jesus, why he came to us, what he did, who he was etc. I loved the pictures included in this book and found it easy to follow and understand for children.
