Ghosting.. A love story

Thank you #netgalley for an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange of the honest review! The book is written by two authors @sarvenaztash and @skiltongram under their pen name @tashskilton.

This was a cute romcom story based in New York. It was a light, quick read where Zoey and Miles are ghost writers, working for their clients to find them a match on dating sites. As it turns out, they have been communicating with each other online (as some one else) however they have met in real life and regarded each other with nothing but animosity.

The story has some really fun banter between the two main leads along with some sweet love stories (such as that of Miles' parents). There was also Zoey's vulnerability and Miles' firm belief in fairy tale love stories that makes these characters stand out! Lastly, I haven't been to the US but the way New York is described in this book makes me want to visit it asap!

The book released on 26 May and I would recommend grabbing a copy ! I would give it 3.5 stars out of 5 stars.

I ate this book up like candy. I love the Cyrano de Bergerac storyline with the two Dating profile ghostwriters. It was perfect. The best part of this book was that the main characters and most of the side characters were people of color. Definitely not something that is usual in a rom com or romance. The girl was just quirky enough without going over the top and Miles was adorably geeky and charming.

This book begs to be read in a hammock with a glass of wine and dark chocolate.

I can't believe I'm about to say that I enjoyed this hate to love romance! Ok, it wasn't exactly hate to love, but they definitely were snarky to each other in the beginning. This was a cute romance about two ghost writers who were both writing for different dating websites. They each have a client they are helping find love via dating websites, and they do that by typing for them. They don't realize that actually they are falling in love with each other (because they don't know the other one is a ghost writer).
Some parts of the book were in the slower side, but all in all I thought it was a good read! I feel like we could have done without the boss' chapters because those were just weird. I did enjoy that this takes place in a city (I love city stories)! I'd definitely read more by this author and thought the idea was very clever for a romance.

I loved everything about this modern romcom! Chapters alternate first person POVs and it really works in this book. Our two main characters are very well developed and believable with their own distinct voices. This novel had me engaged and entertained from start to finish, with numerous laugh out loud moments!

Special thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for providing this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. Full review on @goodreads, this book is out now!

I did not like the plot of this story. It was hard for me to follow and I disliked the characters. I feel like the author was trying to make it too modern, and it did not seem realistic to me.

I received an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I would like to thank the author, publisher and Net Galley for the chance to read and review this book.

I'm not the target audience for this book, but I really enjoyed the story. And it left me very grateful to be an "old married woman" and not needing to deal with dating! Cause - wow! Hiring ghost writers for your dating profile sounds a bit extreme, but I don't doubt that some would resort to that. Knowing what to write in a bio - or book review! - can be rather difficult at times!

Overall, though I enjoyed the story of Miles and Zoey - and that of Jude and Bess - the book did move rather slowly overall. The emails from the boss intros to each chapter got to be annoying as well,e because it felt like it should be important, but really didn't add anything to the story. A few lines of comment from each character could have explained that silly work story line. And some of the out-there points - Hotel the for example - were just a little too out there. For me, at least. But overall, I enjoyed the story. The characters were fun to get to know and silly in a realistic way. I didn't ever really come to the point of cheering on the characters, and I'm not sure I'd want to be friends with any of them in real life, but they were entertaining, and I enjoyed the book.

If you’re a fan of enemies to lovers books, you are in for a treat with this romantic comedy! A love a good slow burn romance, I typically find the pace of romance novels to be way too fast to be realistic. The first half of this book focuses on their careers and the ghost writing aspect to the book and in the second half we start to really see sparks fly!
This book is the perfect pick me up palate cleanser after a heavy read or a down slump. I would read these two in another book.

This is a well written and entertaining romantic comedy that was a perfect distraction. Native New Yorker miles and reluctant transplant from LA zoey bump into each other and immediately create a rivalry based on their fight over the free day old biscotti. Both of them are starving artists and unknown to them they have the same unique job - ghostwriting for clients on dating web sites. Miles is trying to put his life back together after his fiancé cheated on him and got pregnant by the other guy. Zoey is trying to come out of her shell and embrace life as a New Yorker.

Reading slump suck! I tried to read but then I just stopped reading. This is a slowwwww burning story and I almost DNF this book lol

Btw I felt confuse at first but then I realized there are two point of views lol from Miles and Zoey. They work as a ghostwriter for a different company who help people with their online dating profile and I was like who the hell use that kind of service? Especially when they chat with the potential matches on behalf of their client asdfghjkl but yeah this is a modern world so maybe this thing does exist.

I don't like any of them and the only character that I like was Mary, Zoey's ex boss aka friend.

Thank you Netgalley for Ghosting: A Love Story ARC!

This was so cute. I was intrigued by the concept and totally drawn in by Miles and Zoey's love story. I breezed through it quickly, and thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent in their world. The first kiss was one of my favorite scenes.

A couple things kept it from being a 5 star read for me.

1) Miles's daddy dealbreaker. This came from left field for me. I know he'd waxed poetic about the baby his ex was having and there were some things with his family, but that was maybe at a level 3 or 4 and then he's at 10, no baby, no Miles.

2) I also didn't totally buy that Miles wouldn't send Zoey some sort of message after his ex came by. For four days. Esp when they lived across the hall from each other? Didn't seem like something he would do after coaching his clients to end the chat properly instead of ghosting and this was after one conversation.

3) The "hotel scene" felt out of character. Their romance had such a good slow burn and then all the sudden they bang it out. It kinda came from out of nowhere. Again, Zoey had advised her clients about jumping into the sack too fast.

4) The pot smoking didn't seem necessary? I"m not against it, but it just seemed like a thing that didn't need to be there? Maybe this was because we met Zoey and she wasn't smoking? There were a few funny bits related to it with the ex delivery guy and maybe this existed for those bits?

So altogether a great 4 star read that I enjoyed a lot. Will definitely be reading more by these authors.

I thought this book was going to go in a different direction. I feel like it missed the mark. It had the potential to be sexy and funny and just so much fun. It's not a bad book at all, but I wanted it to be hotter, and spicy.

Thank you Netgalley for the early copy of this book.
I enjoyed it so much. It was completely different than anything I’ve read before. The characters were absolutely delightful and witty, fun and entertaining. The plot was very interesting to me. I really liked the book.

I absolutely LOVED this book. It was classic romcom at its very best - It reminded me of old-school romcoms from the 90s like When Harry Met Sally and You've Got Mail and I couldn't get enough of Miles and Zoey! Funny, sweet, and romantic, with just the right amount of edge, it was the perfect temporary escape from the heartbreaking reality we are all facing right now. I never would have guessed it was written by two different authors either. All I know is that Fame Adjacent by Sarah Skilton is on my Kindle and will now be pushed up in my TBR. I hope these two co-write another novel because I will absolutely read it.

After reading Ghosting: A Love Story by Tash Skilton .

⭐⭐⭐⭐

.
Quick synopsis: Zoey and Miles are writers for competing companies who employ ghostwriters to help struggling singles on dating websites. The two come into contact in the real world, as well as unknowingly through messages, as they are going through their own personal struggles. .
.
I really liked this book! It recently came out last week on May 26th (happy belated #pubday 😄) but I was lucky enough to get an ARC from @netgalley. I thought both of the main characters were interesting and relatable without feeling stereotypical as characters in romantic comedy novels can sometimes be. The writing was witty and told an interesting story. The setting of New York played a huge role. I could totally imagine Zoey's experience as a new to New York resident (especially since I'm also from the west coast) and I could feel the love Miles felt for the city. The book dealt with the themes of love, heartbreak, trying new things, parent relationships, and being a struggling Millenial. .
.
If you were wondering, ghostwriters for dating apps actually exist. As someone married to my high school sweetheart I never fathomed this type of service might be available! It was fun to read about and gave the title "Ghosting" a double meaning as it describes the ghostwriting and times different characters experienced being "ghosted," or basically ignored by a potential partner.

If you are looking for a book that is lighthearted and fun while still telling and interesting story, I'd recommend it!

Ghosting is such a fun read. The two protagonists meet early on and establish their initial antagonism, and then continue throughout to build a real relationship that is completely independent / parallel to their online correspondence, so that by the time things escalate between them, it's truly based on their friendship and the choices they've made to bridge the gap and get to know one another. I appreciated that because the whole time they were chatting with each other as other people, I was in full "reading-through-my-fingers" cringe mode, waiting for something super embarrassing or revealing to occur. And while that correspondence was outside their relationship, it adds this cute sort of "id" level to their romance, underscoring how right they are for each other. I loved the voice of each narrator. I loved their banter both in the dialogue and in their written correspondence. The side observations are hilarious. And there were several subplots that kept the whole story compelling and came to a very satisfying completion. Super quick and fun read.

LOVED IT! Never a dull moment with this one!!

The alternating POVs kept you engaged with the lives of both Miles and Zoey. This story was swoon worthy, exciting, and presented the here and now with online dating perfectly.

The enemies to lovers trope is one of my favourites, and these two did it perfectly. You already know that these characters are going to get together at some point, but it's all about the journey getting there, that slow burn romance, that keeps you hooked and turning page after page.

Both Zoey and Miles were relatable characters who've had a hard hand dealt to them, and just trying to make it through each day. They were almost complete opposites but they complimented one other perfectly, enough to make you wish they figured it out sooner. He helped her discover more (both outside and within herself), while she helped keep him grounded and living in the here and now. While also keeping him on his toes 😋

The supporting characters were entertaining as hell too! They were all quirky and fun in their own way, and this rom com would be awesome to see on the screen some time.

Overall, this book reminded me of Christina Laurens ability to keep me hooked until the very last page. To smile as I read, and to have moments of laughing out loud. This was the first book from these authors for me, and I can say I will be glad to read more from them.

*Thank you Netgalley and the Publisher for providing me with a copy of this book for review, all opinions are my own*

I hate this book and I think I just finished reading because I want to say bad things about it with the property.
I didn't know what this book was about until I started reading it and as soon as I started reading I knew it wouldn't be a good book, and as soon as the reading started to drag on for days I started to get angry with everything about the book, the dull writing, the poorly done and completely unpleasant plot to read, the awful characters.
I admit that the last 100 pages the book has improved but at that point, I was so sick of everything I had already read, that the end was unable to redeem the book for me. Could it be that I'm being a little biased in my disliking this book based on the bad reading experience I had? Yes, but I really believe that this is not a good book and I really regret having even wasted my time reading and irritating myself with this story.

Super adorable rom-com about dating and how social media plays a roll in it. I enjoyed reading about the quirks of both Zoey and Miles. It reminding me of Cyrano de Bergerac because both Zoey and Miles are ghost-writers for dating companies. Companies that are each run by a divorced couple. It was funny and charming, and the story moved along at a nice pace. Of course there is a misunderstanding, but in the end there is happiness.

What can I say? In my opinion, this was a predictable, overly-saturated-with-coincidences-and-misunderstandings-kind-of-story. I was shaking my head a lot while reading, thinking, "you're kidding me, right?" especially because I really thought the "ghosting" would be played out much differently. I think with the title and brief description I read, I had different expectations that this book didn't live up to.

Keep in mind that I questioned a lot. Although I'm older, I've been through the dating sites and apps era that still continues today. Unfortunately, I've never heard of this concept for ghostwriting and meeting clients to do so... that just lost me and I couldn't relate to a lot of the details pertaining to the story because of that.

Basically two people brought to NYC, living next door to each other unbeknownst to them, working for opposing companies in the same industry, bumping into and fighting over day-old biscotti who wanted to share information about what they were up to and BAM! They were constantly interrupted,.. it was just too scripted for my taste of romance... and the ending of their demise because of yet another misunderstanding?? I just couldn't....

Thank you Tash Skilton, Kensington Books and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review. Always so grateful for the opportunity to read complimentary books!
