This was an interesting contemporary romance. While not my usual genre to read, with some adult language and situations, I enjoyed the story. Watching Zoey and Miles compete for the 'big table' at the cafe and a number of other humorous situations kept my interest. Zoey and Miles both have challenging pasts to deal with and their jobs are not secure. They each are ghosting for rival online dating services and as things progress with their clients, they realize things aren't quite what they thought. Readers who enjoy quirky rom com will not want to miss this one. I was given a complimentary copy of the book by KensingtonBooks and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own. |

This one is not for me. Just couldn’t get into it. Maybe a little “young” for my tastes. I did like the writing style and can see it’s easy peasey story appeal to many. Thank you publisher and netgalley for this arc in exchange of an honest review. |
This one was a slow burn and I sometimes felt the writing was trying too hard to be quirky with its pop culture references and crazy boss emails. Eventually it progressed and I enjoyed the banter and budding chemistry between Zoey and Miles. I appreciated the characters’ inner monologues, accurate reflections on the dating app scene, and laughed when I realized most people on the internet could use the benefits of these dating ghostwriters. Overall I enjoyed the story and would recommend to anyone looking for a light entertaining romance that pokes fun at the modern dating scene. Thank you NetGalley for my advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review |
DNF Man, I tried to persevere but this isn’t for me. I feel really bad because I love You’ve Got Mail retellings and this has received other glowing reviews, but I’m having difficulty connecting to the writing style. It wouldn’t be fair to me or the book if I continued. |
I really enjoyed this romantic comedy. I loved all of the characters they were great. Miles, Zoey and Mary were my favourite characters. I loved the plot and the idea of dating app ghostwriters. This was an interesting spin and not your typical dating app story. I did find it funny how Zoey made Miles seem like such an asshole, from her perspective when we didn't get those vibes at all. I would highly recommend this romantic comedy. |
Ghosting: A Love Story was such a cute light hearted read. I have never heard of hiring someone to make your dating profile catchy, and at first I was like man, you are basically lying to get someone to like you; but I guess some people just aren’t outgoing at first and need a little push. The conversations between ghost writers were cute and quirky and enjoyable to read. Zoey and Miles had such funny banter between them and I loved every second about their frenemies to lovers vibes. It’s definitely a good cute fast read! #romcom #ghostingalovestory #books #bookstagram ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ |
A cute rom-com with witty writing and feel good appeal. This felt like a homage to romantic comedies everywhere. The outline is basic and not in the least original but it always works (which is why it is always used, tried and true). The characters are like able enough, their problems aren’t too problematic and their issues magically resolve themselves with a cloying background soundtrack. That said, it is a super fun, quirky novel which has you laughing out loud and turning the pages. |
Ghosting: A Love Story would most likely be thought of as implying some type of romance involving dating in which one leaves the other without so much as a solitary word. One would be wrong because it's about ghost writing with two characters working for the same company and stuck in the world of dating apps without being able to fully appreciate reality. Clients hire them to uncover love but their still searching for the flashlight (enter sarcasm here) in the dark. This pairing most likely would've never worked in the real world and yet they try and try again with different set of clients which just felt forced. I just couldn't wrap my mind around any of it and safe to say I wasn't going along to get along with this one. Thank you to Tash, the pub, NetGalley, and Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review. |
Ghosting: A Love Story: Tash Skilton Release date: May 26, 2020 Addictive, heartfelt, and witty; a slow burn rom-com. Filled with banter and charm, Ghosting: A Love Story, is by far one of my favorite rom-coms of the year. Zoey and Miles are [unbeknownst] rivals as ghost writers for competing online dating services. On a parallel plot, they are also rivals at a neighborhood coffee shop where they compete for the prime working locations and day-old baked goods. More than just a quick read, happy rom-com, this novel addresses the modern day fallacies of dating and the complications that often follow. I completely fell in love with both characters; both are quick witted and charming in their own ways. The only thing I didn’t love was the choice of title for the novel. Personally, I’m not sure if its fitting since its namesake holds such a small portion of the book. My opinion would focus more on that part of the novel, I know there is probably a page limit but painting a detailed picture of just how painful the ghosting was, may make the ending not only stronger, but more believable. Along with posting on Net Galley, I will be posting my review to Goodreads, Amazon (when it becomes available), my Instagram (which has over a two thousand book review followers) and my blog. Please find the link to my blog post below. I am very grateful for the opportunity to review such a fun, exciting rom com. Thank you very much. DNF. A cute contemporary book. The writing style was enjoyable. I really enjoyed reading from Miles's perspective. I really love the meeting of Zoey and Miles. It was hilarious! But I couldn't get into it. The dating profiles idea was fun, of course, but it lacked something. Thanks to the publisher via NetGalley for the arc! |
*Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review * Ghosting was an easy book to just pick up and read. Miles and Zoey are both romantic and funny in their own way. I really enjoyed their table competition - I could just imagine me doing that out of spite. I really appreciated that it took a good percent of the book before they really started to fall for each other. I could have used a little more of them actually BEING together, but I am glad they didn't have an argument once then decided they liked each other and that was it. Would recommend, it was an overall good read. Do not get the impression that it's enemies to lovers (I kind of did) - it's more like irritated acquaintances who form a banter bond. |
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington books for letting me read this. This book was a lot of fun. There was quick banter, a pretty fast moving plot, and lovely descriptions of New York City that make you want to dine there. The meet cute with Miles and Zoey was interesting as it gave them a consistent setting, which added to the feel of the city, and the tone of their relationship. The topic of marijuana is something not encountered often in rom-coms so that was slightly different to read about. Yet getting drunk is done a lot, so why not? The side characters were written really well, except that last part with Jordan was a bit predictable. I thought Miles could have handled that better. |

Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. In the age of modern dating this book seems apt.It is a cute rom com and can be easily grasped. You can find yourself relatable with characters at times. I was quite fascinated by the cover itself and decided to request this book. I can assure you you won't be disappointed with this one |
Cute story. I loved the slow love story, in a world of insta-love. I liked the characters, their jobs were pretty cool. I couldn't help but think throughout the whole books that it should have been titled "Catfish: A Love Story" though. I'm glad both couples had a happy ending and a story to tell |
cute and fun, genuine and sweet. everything i look for in a rom com just done better. this is one i can reread |
Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Publishing for a chance to read and review this book early. I was waiting to read this book as soon the authors announced it. I was very happy when I was approved. I liked it plenty but I wasn't in love with it. The cute cover piqued my interest and the concept was definitely new. But it was definitely hilarious. I was laughing at the internal monologues of the characters. It was laugh out loud funny and oddly romantic at the same time. Zoey and Miles were perfect together and the healthy competition between these two made this book interesting to read about for sure. The plot and the supporting characters added to the already engaging pace of the story. If you are looking for a good enemies to lovers office-ish romance book, then I will suggest you try this one out. I definitely fell in love with the writer(s) collaboration and I am interested if they come up with similar books in the future. Hope you all love it too. Happy reading! |
*Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review * Ghosting is a pick-me up, witty rom-com, where Miles and Zoey are both cynycial ghostwriters for competing companies who specialise in helping people with their online dating (a little Cyrano). This delivered exactly what was promised - a fun, entertaining read. The characters felt relatable and likeable, and the romance was very slow-burn. I would have actually liked to see a little more of these two actually together! |
Thank you netgalley and Kensington books for this ARC copy of Ghosting in exchange for my honest review. Synopsis: Miles and Zoey are both ghostwriters for competing online dating companies to help their customers find long term relationships. What starts out as flirting for their customer, because feelings for someone they don’t even know. In the mean time Miles and Zoey in real life are bickering and bantering after meeting in a coffee shop one day and fighting over “their” table and day old biscotti. Will they find out they are writing for each other’s customers? Will they become more than bickering frenemies? Review: I’m going to give this 3/5 stars. Initially I really enjoyed this book. I felt as they built up Zoey writing for Bree and Miles writing for Jude there would be more. I could have done without the emails from their bosses. I enjoyed the bickering and bantering from Miles and Zoey. I felt when they finally do get together it was rushed and the book ended quickly after and I wanted to see more of them together. Overall, the book was enjoyable and funny. I recommend if you are looking for something lighthearted and easy to read. |
Like You’ve Got Mail but make it modern & with a twist. There is a lot to love about Ghosting: A Love Story like A LOT TO LOVE. If you’re a fan of You’ve Got Mail or really any rom-com this is the book for you. Miles and Zoey are ghost writers for rivaling ghostwriting dating companies. They ended up meeting at a coffee shop and so the enemies to lovers saga begins. Zoey moved to New York against her will and being forced out of her comfort zone is not something she enjoys. Then in walks Miles, a native to New York, recently single, lover of love. That was until his girlfriend broke up with him and he found out she was pregnant with another guys baby. There are so many things about this book that I loved. First the back and forth of it all is so well timed and well written. It had me laughing to the point of snorting more than I’m willing to admit. The twist were perfectly placed and makes you look forward to everything will unfold chapter after chapter. I loved that the characters weren’t your classic blonde girl and dark haired guy. Because let’s be real that gets incredibly boring and over done. The family aspect for both main characters were so interesting and really gives you perspective into why they are the way they are. As I sit here and try to think of negatives I’m really coming up blank. The blurb could be better and I’m not totally digging the cover. But all in all those are just cosmetic things that can be looked over. Once you get into the story it’s hard to get away from it. As someone who has adored rom-coms her entire life and watches You’ve Got Mail about once a week. I give this book 5 stars, because it reminds me of the “classics” like Sleepless in Seattle (which is quoted! SWOON), Pretty Woman, and When Harry Met Sally. (WHICH IS ALSO MENTIONED). It’s got the modern twist to not make it feel like you’ve read this story 1000 times. & honestly like I said, ITS HILARIOUS. Read it, enjoy it, you won’t regret it. |
Thank you to NetGalley, Tash Skilton and Kensington Books for the free e-book in exchange for an honest review. This wasn’t exactly what I was expecting out of this novel, but I really really enjoyed it! I loved that most chapters were started with e-mails from their respective bosses and how whacky some of those were. I really liked both characters, even though they both had their own respective issues and flaws. The more flaws, the more real these characters come off to me. I really liked the idea of having ghostwriters and helping people fall in love. This was such a nice break from my usual thrillers and the stress of work. I really enjoyed Mary and the craziness she brought with her! I definitely recommend this novel! Out May 26th! |
