This book had a unique synopsis and I was really excited to get into it. Unfortunately it just moved a little too slow for me and I wanted a bit more action. I did love both the characters though and was rooting for their happy ending!

I wanted to love this one so much. I really really did. It just fell way short for me. While I liked Miles a lot, he couldn’t make up for my lack of feeling anything for Zoey. I wish she’d had a little more something for me to connect to but she fell flat to me. I got bored way too early on and it set the bar for the rest of the book for me to feel like something was missing and wishing I was more entertained.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

4.5 stars
I discovered this book on netgalley, i had never heard of it before and i'm so glad i requested it and got approved. The synopsis was really interesting and i must say it really delivered a great romance. Ghosting is about two ghostwriters who help people with online dating by writing in their place and they fall in love with each other via their texting. For the majority of this book the two main characters don't know who the other one is and it adds to their chemistry because in real life they have this kind of animosity between them but they also flirt a lot via thair job as ghostwriters. I think this book is a must for everyone who reads romance, the couple is so endearing, there is a lot of humour but also some interesting discussions on serious topics, very light on the smut but the one scene we have is very good and their chemistry throughout the book is amazing.

[Thanks Netgalley for the ebook. This review is my honest opinion but just another opinion, you should read this book and judge it by yourself]
This is something like a modern Cyrano of Bergerac but with two Cyranos that fall in love with each other. The premise is fantastic but the rest of the story is very weak. There's some tension because they start to feel atracted to each other thinking they are other people but it isn't well developed, it's resolved very quickly and poorly, there was a lot there to explode and it felt like a missing opportunity.
I like Miles, he seems a great guy, but I couldn't connect with the heroine (oh, my, I've forgotten her name!). I didn't like the begginings of the chapters, they were very distracting (and not in a good way) and didn't add anything to the love story.
Some parts are funny and I think the whole story is romantic movie stuff but I couldn't enjoy it.
--------------

I really wanted to love it, for real, but I got so bored. I didn't DNF by miracle! Miles is the only character I actually liked. I didn't feel anything for Zoey, like at all. I couldn't feel related to any character. The chapters has emails in the beginning and I started jumping it, it was so unnecessary. The love story is extremely slow and I was really really bored. I can't find many good things about the story to be honest. I feel so sorry, I finished the book, I tried to be concerned about the "twists" but nope, there's not even good twists. I'm glad many other people liked it, just wasn't a good one for me

This started off really cute, but I just couldn't get into it. I always give a book until page 100, but I couldn't connect with any of the characters. I would still recommend others try it.

I think that what I liked most of the book is what most reviewers didn't like at all: the sloooow burn romance. As Zoey says (to her client, Bree), "it'll be so much hotter and more satisfying after all that waiting and waiting, all that buildup rocketing through your bodies, it'll be like... [she] make[s] an "explotion" noise, complete with hand movements."

The story is quite original, it has the key ingredients of rom-com, witty dialogues, and (from my very personal point of view) likeable characters. I really like Zoey. She's funny, smart, but insecure (due to understandable reasons). On the other hand, Miles seems very self-confident and also sharp-witted.

Zoey and Miles relationship reminded me of Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks in You've Got Mail (one of my favourite movies), and there are a couple of (literal) references to the movie as well. You can see what I mean when they meet at the café.

In summary, quite enjoyable, hard to put down, witty dialogues, and a slow burn romance.

Thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

The concept of this New York based story is unique and entertaining. Miles and Zoey are ghostwriters for two rival online dating companies. Their job is the glam up their clients’ online persona, by building their profile, selecting their match, and most importantly, interact with their potential date. The story follows both characters as they interact both online and in real life, and how they connect the dots to come back to each other.

At first, I wasn’t entirely onboard with the idea of hiring someone that pretends to be a “better you”, in my head it seemed like a personality catfish even. I went into this book expecting it to change my mind, unfortunately I don’t think it was executed very well. The essential part of their job was to understand their clients in order to represent them accurately online. It was emphasized in the book that they make sure their clients are comfortable with their service, and that the point of hiring a ghostwriter is to better present the client themselves. However, I would have to say that Zoey and Miles were pretty unprofessional. They let their personal voices take over while chatting on behalf of their clients.

The digital element of this book brings a modern twist to this rom-com and is perfect for screen-addicts aka almost everyone (myself included). The protagonists and side characters are witty and charming, which we get to see via email or text formats. However, the first half of the book was too slow in my opinion, to a point which I almost wanted to skip all the online chatting. The second half of the book is when the relationship really starts to develop.

The story is told in duo-perspectives, which I found quite interesting. The story line is quite complex as we are following Zoey and Miles in real life and their online personas (DuchessB and GreatScott). The side characters were also well-developed, which could be good, but in this book, I found that it dragged on in the first part of the story. The recently divorced CEOs, Miles’ roommates, Zoey’s former boss… I would much prefer if the story focused more on connecting the protagonists emotionally and romantically than focusing on the side characters.

This was a cute story that I enjoyed, especially during the second half of the book. I did not like the email memos that began most chapters, they were annoying and mostly unnecessary though I understand that they set up some of the storyline and were maybe meant for a comedic relief. I liked Miles and Zoey though I wish they're relationship would have started sooner, I wanted more of them spending time together instead of fighting!

Zoey and Miles are ghostwriters for rival companies that specialize in helping clients navigate the world of online dating. They also fight over the same table in a cafe every day, and don’t know the other’s identity or that they are rivals. Suddenly worlds collide when their clients are matched - will they figure out who is behind the other profile and realize that maybe they DON’T hate each other?

This was a cute and light read! It did take a bit longer than normal for me to feel invested in the story (but honestly, that could be Animal Crossing’s fault). I also didn’t feel like one of the plot lines mattered all that much to the story (the rivalry between the companies). But all in all once I was invested, I really liked the characters and was totally rooting for the HEA. Definitely pick this one up - especially if you love rom coms!

Thank you to the publisher for the advance copy! All opinions are my own!

This was the perfect blend of an enemies-to-lovers and mistaken identity trope. It was a fun rom-com type novel that could totally be made into a movie. I thought the writing was a good mix of e-mails conversations/ online chats. The mix made it realistic, especially given the MC's jobs as online ghostwriters for dating sites.

Zoey sounds delightful. I love her connection with Mary as kind of a surrogate mother/daughter relationship. And her back story was different from any I've read before in a romance novel, so two thumbs up there.

Miles was great. I loved his relationship with his parents and his cousin. I adored how sure he was of himself and what he wanted in the future. It was a nice change that he was more of a hopeless romantic than Zoey.

Overall, this was a really fun read. I loved the setting, the characters, and of course, the grand gesture. I would definitely recommend to a friend and can't wait to read more by the author.

Zoey has just moved from LA to New York & can’t even convince herself to branch out beyond her block. Miles was just dumped by his fiancé, living on his best friends couch. Both of them work crafting words for dating sites, hoping to help them find true love- even if they aren’t looking for love themselves.

They run into each other at a coffee shop, fighting for the one good table in the local coffee shop with WIFI – Unbeknownst to each other their clients are speaking to each other, through them. Will it be a perfect match?

The premise of the two competitive ghost writing companies with the newly divorced CEOs was different and added something special to the story for me.

The two POVs and the setup of the staff emails between really made for an enjoyable read. I can count on one hand how many rom coms I’ve read written from a man’s point of view that I really liked, and this one of Miles’ was fantastic!

This was a perfectly wonderful romance novel that kept me smiling, I would give it 4.5 stars!

Ghosting: A Love Story is a sweet, slow-burn romance between Miles and Zoey, two ghostwriters from two competing dating companies. The story is a happy and an endearing one, both protagonists are funny and witty and the writing is enjoyable. In other words, the book had all the right elements to make this a very successful rom-com. However, I ended up being a little bit disappointed with it. Even though I had no clear expectations for this romance, in the end I clearly was expecting more than I got.

The first half of the book is super, super slow – both characters are focused on advancing their careers and focused on surviving in the big city. They are focused on hating each other, even if they don’t really anything about each other. Unknowingly and as a result of their occupations as ghostwriters for competing dating companies, they start to correspond each other, all the while impersonating both their customers. I found that this particular element of the story was not well executed. I mean, I have no problem believing someone would want a ghostwriter to write for them on a dating website. What I have trouble believing is that PROFESSIONAL ghostwriters would be so unprofessional as basically forgetting their customers’ personalities, likes and dislikes and basically write about themselves, their own likes and dislikes. That’s so unprofessional, it made me shudder and I believe it did nothing to advance the love story in any relevant way.

As I was saying, the first half of the book is super slow and at about 60% I was getting really tired of all the chatting on the dating website – they weren’t even trying to impersonate their customers’ personalities by this point and this was exhausting and kind of boring, to say the truth. The last 40% of the book though was funnier, faster and much more interesting. They finally got past the hating stage and the romance start to develop in earnest. I would have enjoyed this reading so much more if the whole book was like the last 40%!

In conclusion, the romance was way too slow-burn for me. I wish the authors had spent more time exploring this relationship. Overall, it’s an enjoyable read even if not a fantastic one. I would probably read another book from the duo because I think the potential for entertaining and funny love stories is there.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-arc of this wonderful story.

This was a wonderfully unique take on a romcom. It was You've Got Mail meets The Truth About Cats And Dogs. Miles and Zoey are both online dating ghostwriters for different companies. Somehow the clients they represent get matched and they are writing to each other.

The slow burn is real in this book. I loved the witty banter and the geeky moments they both have. This book had scenes that had me grinning like a fool. I can honestly say that I enjoyed every second of this story.

If you're looking for an easy read to make you feel good and give you butterflies this is the book for you.

Overall, I enjoyed this book but I found there was a lot left to be desired. In this modern day "You've Got Mail" Rom-Com, we meet the two main characters, Miles and Zoey who are both Ghostwriters for online dating forums and are both equally unsatisfied with their lives and are just trying to stay afloat long enough to find their footing. I really enjoyed the modern concept of this book with the online dating element. The Ghostwriter plot was a creative element and was fun to read about. Overall, I found it to be a fun and light read. I particularly enjoyed the pop culture references and the humorous dialogue. I found Zoey and Bree to be hilarious and relatable. I enjoy when protagonists are multi-faceted and break out of the stereotypical "perfect" molds. Zoey was cranky, quick-witted, dealt with a lot of anxiety and insecurities and had issues with her parents and I loved her more for it. Bree was dorky and inappropriate as well and I really enjoyed her character. I also really enjoyed Mary's role as a mentor and I loved her relationship with Zoey. Both Miles and Jude were sweet and likable as well. I just wish Miles had a little bit more oomph to him as he wasn't the most interesting, nor multi-layered book boyfriend.

I enjoyed the development and the weaving of the two story-lines (The DuchessB and GreatSc0t, and Miles and Zoey). Although, I did feel as though we knew about their (Zoey and Miles) job connection/identities a little too early and their frenemies to lovers story-line was dragged out a little too long for my liking. There was a lot of angst and banter between them, but there wasn't a lot of romantic, emotional, or sexual build up between the two of them as Zoey and Miles. We see a couple instances of them just beginning to bond and connect as individuals and then BAM, it all escalates into this full blown romance that left me wondering how we got here so quickly.

The concept, dialogue, humor, character likability, and pop culture references: 4 stars

The pacing and romance/chemistry: 2 stars

I feel an average of 3 stars feels just right for me. Like I said at the beginning, overall I enjoyed this book and it felt original and so promising. Once it picked up, it had me glued reading it until the very end. Unfortunately, the pace just picked up too late and then it wrapped up too early for my liking.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

As someone who has never had to date online, it is always fun for me to read stories about the apps created by authors and how they're different from all the others out there. This was a take on a side of online dating I hadn't heard of before: ghostwriting for people to get dates.

To be honest, it's genius and if that's actually a job, can someone let me know? Who doesn't like to live vicariously through other people? That's exactly what Miles and Zoey do - until they begin to fall in love with their clients' love interest. Unknowingly working for competing companies, they both work with daters who need a little help finding the right person because they're not able to do it successfully on their own. Through editing profiles and chatting on behalf of their clients, each begins to feel something for the person they're "talking" to - until one day, Zoey realizes that she and Miles have the same job and have been talking to each other!

What starts out as friendly competition to get "the table" in the cafe they both spend their days working at, turns into accidental friendship and eventually, Miles and Zoey see each other for who they truly are.

There are some really sweet moments in this book about learning to accept change and finding your way in a new place. How friendships are part of your life no matter where in the world you actually are and how sometimes you just have to try new things. I read this book in one sitting and enjoyed the story of Miles and Zoey.

Thank you, Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Fun. Have you read Cyrano De Bergerac? Don't worry if you haven't or if you can't remember it. This charming fan fiction moves the story to the world of on-line dating. It's the tale of Zoey and Miles, both of whom are ghostwriters for those who want great profiles on their respective on line dating services. He's a New Yorker and she's new to town from LA and at first they are in a contretemps over, of all things, the table at their local coffee shop. Slowly, though, they begin to find the good spots in one another even as- wait for it- they are doing an on line thing without knowing that it's with each other. Nice characters and spritely dialogue makes it a good read. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. For rom-com fans.

Thank you net galley for the advance reader copy of this novel. This was a contemporary romance that kind of had a You've got mail/cyrano vibe to it. I loved the concept of it and it was overall a great read but took a bit to get into it.

Did I pause reading everyone's most-anticipated Addie LaRue for this? Yes. Did I spend my entire Saturday just reading this? Yes! Is this one of the cutest books I've read all year? Most definitely!
Oh, my goodness! I was not expecting to enjoy and love this book as much as I do. I just wanted to read a romance book and I figured I'd check out one of my ARCs. I'm so, so glad I picked Ghosting!

Miles and Zoey are ghostwriters for people in online dating websites, making others sound wittier and more interesting than their real selves. Of course, they just happened to work for rival ghostwriting companies! When each of their current clients matched online, it's up to Miles and Zoey to make their connection a success. Only, they've gotten to know each other in real life, but they didn't know they're flirting with each other as their clients. If you think this online dating take on You've Got Mail is just like others, you'd be wrong.

The inner monologues and the actual dialogues are so fun and entertaining. I laughed and snorted my way through this book! And to have two persons of color—Zoey being being half-Filipina (hooray for my Filipina ass!) and Miles being half-Egyptian—fall in love just...warms my heart. Zoey and Miles are witty and adorable and I loved seeing their slow-burn, rivals-to-lovers story unfold. Their bosses' e-mails at the beginning of every chapter added another level of hilarity to this already-fun novel. If I'm not mistaken, this is the authors' first book together and if this is what they come up with, I'd definitely love to read more.

This book is about Zoey and Miles who are ghostwriters for rival companies. However, they ghostwrite for people's dating profiles. This was such an interesting premise which I was really excited to read about and I wasn't disappointed.

I loved every chapter from Zoey's POV I loved reading about her and found her POV super funny and cute. Reading from he POV and watching her grow from a new person in new York with no friends and no direction to the end of the book (trying to not give spoilers, sorry if that was vague). Some of the best parts of her storyline involved her ex boss Mary and honestly she was one of the best characters in the story. I liked the fairy godmother like figure she was to Zoey.

The fact that the slow burn romance started pretty much at the start of the book but they don't realise it is fantastic. I loved watching Zoey and Miles interact with their clients (Bree and Jude) and was a little bit disappointed when that faded out. However, I also understand that that probably needed to happen to allow the story to progress.

There's so much more I could say about this book and not one bit of it is bad (that I can think of) However, reading this book for some reason put me in a bit of a slump and for that reason I'm not giving 5 stars but apart from that I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a cute romcom book.
