Based on the title, I was expecting more of a Caribbean sense of place in this collection, but the poems feel universal.

This collection of mostly prose poems will appeal to many people. Some of the poems spoke to me more than others.

Vincent Toro's Tertulia is like a collection of the "best of." The most challenging part of reading this book is finding a favorite. The collection sings, and just when you think Toro has composed the best beats, the next poem shows you otherwise. Tertulia is a true melody of a book.
