this was a lot of fun to read, it was a great way to get into the Dungeons & Dragons. I had a lot of fun reading this and look forward to more from the author.

This was a useful player guide, but I'm not sure my friends would pay $26.00 for it, even though it's absolutely worth it. I like the idea of having a strategic guide to helping me design and build better combat characters and weave better stories for my campaigns. I really like that magical characters weren't treated as a footnote in a book about combat tactics and I loved the "real world" examples of how the builds and strategies would work in a game, as well as why certain things would not work. Sometimes, knowing why things fail is as important as knowing why they succeed. If I played D&D more, this would be ideal for me, but even though I don't, I still learned a lot, and will build better character in the strange and obscure games I do play.
