I found this book a bit slow to start, however it definitely picked up pace as it went on. There are plenty of twists to keep readers engaged and a far from predictable ending! A great book for thriller lovers, my only complaint was maybe a few too many red herrings but that may be down to personal preference. Would recommend to all thriller fans!

The Day I Disappeared is my first novel by Brandi Reeds and will not be my last.
This novel is told in two viewpoints which I enjoy. I found the views interesting and an intriguing way to tell each other’s stories and perspectives and I felt this added to the suspense of the story.
Story of kidnapping and the emotional impact is fantastic storyline and I highly recommend.

This book was alright but predictable. I liked it but I could see a lot coming and guessed a lot and it wasn't quite twisty enough for my liking.

This story had me gripped. I found myself racing through each page to get to the end as I was dying to discover who the kidnapper was. I enjoyed it so much and would definitely recommend it to my friends.

Holly Gebgardt was kidnapped when she was 4 years old, but luckily she was been sent back home by the kidnapper after 3 months. Her parents were shocked to see her return unharmed, as they left all hopes of getting little holly back. But unfortunately Holly couldn’t remember a thing about her kidnap. Her best friend Kitty did recognize a man while Holly got kidnap, and the person was immediately jailed .But things get complicated when series of Kidnaps of little girls starts off again even though the person is in jail and almost many family lost their little girls. (Found dead in bridal dress)After almost twenty years the case reopens and the detective who is in charge starts questioning Holly as she was the only child who returned. Holly herself couldn’t come out of the trauma and her suspicions falls on many people which includes her mom.

Her mom got into a severe accident and went to coma, and therefore things gets more complicated but yes she knows some kind of a secret which makes the reader more curious.

“Phew” - What a twisty ride. Everyone is under suspect till the end of the story.
The story is narrated from Holly and her mother’s (Cecily) point of view , and the suspense was really good.
At times it became little slow especially Holly’s best friend kitten’s part, but I enjoyed her mother’s narration. Though Cecily was not much reliable because she is an alcoholic and her mind is always in mess. The past and the present narration made the plot more suspenseful by both the character .Just when you will think you know who the kidnapper is and what was the motive behind, you will get a bend in the road and again you will be left dangling.

Thank You #netgalley and Lake union Publishing for the ARC of #thedayIdisapeared. Recommended for thriller lovers !

Plot: A young girl is taken from a local playground and then miraculously returned 3 months later, unharmed. 20 years pass, the girl grows up into a complex woman, haunted by a kidnapping that she cannot remember. The police note a similar series of crimes, and they subsequently summon the kidnap victim for her insights.
My take: This book was...ok. I mostly felt like the plot was not "tight." It spun into a lot of different directions and left many loose ends. There's the flaky best friend (annoyingly called "Kitten" by every single person in her life, even though she's an adult). The best friends brother, who of course is a smoking hot American Hero. The drunk mom who I was supposed to sympathize with but mostly seemed to just feel sorry for herself. The vaguely threatening boss who may or may not be a stalker...there were many red herrings in this book that were unnecessary.
2 stars out of 5. Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book.

Thank you NetGalley for the privilege of reading this advanced copy in exchange for my review.

When Holly is kidnapped at 4 and returned 3 months later her whole world, and family changes forever. Her relationship with her mother is distant and strained, as a result of her mother’s alcoholism, her high expectations, and her apparent detachment. Holly’s mother gets into a (suspicious) car crash that puts her in a coma and Holly begins talking to her more than she ever did when she was conscious, with her mother silently responding trying to break free of her coma. When it comes to light that the man they thought kidnapped Holly might not be guilty but that the real culprit is still out there and still taking little girls the authorities ask for Holly’s help. Holly dives into the cases learning more about her mother with every step bringing them closer than they have ever been, if only her mother would wake up.
This is far more than a story about a kidnapping. The mystery certainly keeps the story running with all its twists and turns and many possible suspects but the true story is about families. Families are complex and messy. There is so much societal pressure to be perfect parents that when it doesn’t seem to click for some they are left feeling like failures. The change in perspective from Holly’s point of view about her mother is refreshing. She realizes not only how much her mother loved her but how much she was willing to take to find the truth and keep her safe.
The Day I Disappeared also explores the power of perception and how easily someone’s perception can shape their reality and change their lives.
I very much enjoyed reading this story!

Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the arc of The Day I Disappeared by Brandi Reeds.❤️❤️

Thanks to Brandi Reeds for writing this amazing captivating book!❤️

It follows a girl named Holly in whom disappeared at four-years-old and was snatched from her own mother and her best friend at their local park. 3 months later time skip to where she was returned to the park and had no recollection of what happened and totally unharmed! Another timeskip of 20 years she is working for her dad at his construction business as a journeyman (technically apprenticeship) while shes trying to manage and cope with the illness of her mother. Girls start to disappear again in same circumstances like Holly did clues pop up and draws Holly in to the past of when she disappeared. The man who is accused and alledged to have kidnapped Holly is in Jail but girls are disappearing again like before but they are being found unfortunately deceased!😔😔

So who actually kidnapped Holly and why wasnt she killed but returned alive and well? This is told through two perspectives which is Holly and also bits from Holly's actual mother named Cecily as well as shes in the hospital in a coma. Both perspectives are really interesting and griiping and had you on the edge of my seat I loved this book.

Well done Brandi Reeds❤️

Three months after four-year-old Holly Gebhardt was kidnapped, she was inexplicably returned to the same park from which she’d vanished…with no memory of the ordeal. Though a local handyman was convicted, suspicion also fell on his friend—Holly’s mother, Cecily. The troubling doubts about her involvement shattered the family, forever driving a wedge between mother and daughter.

Twenty years later, another girl goes missing under eerily similar circumstances. It’s just the latest in a series of kidnappings that Detective Jason Guidry thinks Holly can help solve. Though Holly has tried to move on with her life, a young girl’s life hangs in the balance. All she has to do is try to remember…

Once I started reading this book, I couldn’t put it down. Who kidnapped Holly and could this person still be in her life? While some parts of the novel were predictable, it was enough of a thriller for me.

The book is told from the perspective of Holly today and her mother at the time of the kidnapping which adds to the mystery. Did her mother know more about Holly’s kidnapping than she let on?

I will say that I hated her best friend’s character who came off as being spoiled with no concern for Holly’s ordeal. Are there really women like this?

Highly recommend if you like thrillers.

Whilst this book was enjoyable and fairly speedily paced - it didn't feel special. It didn't jump off the page and grab me. What kept me reading was the well written characters; well rounded, relatable, real people.

I received this book from netgalley in exchange for an honest review and it was a great mystery-thriller! When I decided to read this book, I didn't expect that I would like it so much but this book exceeded my expectations.

This book starts with a missing girl and few years later, we are introduced to Holly who went missing and returned after 94 days unscathed. She is 25 now and is still struggling with her past. In the midst of this, she comes to know that the girls have started missing again. She is the only one who could help to find these girls but the problem is she herself can't remember anything.

It was a fast paced story with good characters. I liked the writing style of the author. She did a great job by inserting Cecily's point of view for explaining what happened in the past. It helped with the progression of the story without hampering anything in the present.

I liked the protagonist as she comes as a strong survivor. The relationship between mother and daughter progressed throughout the story even if one was not capable of communicating.

The ending was amazing. I believe that the ending of the story is as important as the beginning and I can't imagine a better ending than the one it received.

Towards the end when they started talking about ghost I was spooked but only for a bit. It was more of a mystery to me than a thriller. It had some thrilling parts but that too towards the end.

Some might find the revelation to be a bit cliché but for me it wasn't bothersome. I would highly recommend this book.

Holy cow, this one was intense! Just the thriller I was looking for. I read this one in just a few hours, constantly turning the page to see what would happen. Reeds did a wonderful job of making us suspect many characters and I truly didn't predict the ending. There were so many possibilities of things that happened to Holly & the missing girls and so many characters introduced that it became a little confusing at times, but that is my only major drawback. I enjoyed Reeds's writing style and found myself rooting for Holly and a clear resolution to her circumstances and was pleased with how Reeds made it all come together. A good, quick read that I highly recommend! Thank you to Lake Union Publishing for the advanced copy. The Day I Disappeared is out August 25!

I enjoyed this thriller as we see Holly who was kidnapped as a child and then returned unharmed. Everyone is shocked and she remembers only snatches of shadows and darkness so she isn't much help to investigators. And a man remains in prison convicted of the kidnapping. But when more young girls go missing, Holly realizes she can't stop searching for answers. Told in alternating voices of Holly and her mother, the novel explores the depths we will go to to protect our own secrets and the lies we will tell to those we believe have wronged us.

I was unable to finish the book, I was really struggling with it the way it skipped from one person to the next, I really wanted to continue with it but was unable to, I appreciate the hard work that the author has put into it but unfortunately it wasn’t for me.

This book was very enjoyable. It details Holly, a victim of kidnapping who was mysteriously returned after 90 days. Holly was left unharmed and untouched, aside from an arrow scar on her arm. Twenty years later, it appears that a copy cat kidnapper is on the prowl. Holly works with investigators to help solve the case, prompting her to remember pieces of her past before it's too late. I found Holly's story very interesting, but the side characters were so unlikable it nearly ruined the story for me. It was a good read overall, if you're a fan of Lisa Jewell or Ruth Ware, check it out!

Thank you Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for the advance of this book.
I enjoyed the story but found it tough going in places and a little slow but it did pick up towards the end.
I would definitely read another book by Brandi again as it did keep my attention, although I did drift a bit in parts but the story did flow pretty well. .

This was a well written, riveting read, which definitely had my attention from beginning until end. I found the character development to be absolutely flawless, which a Leary’s helps me in thrillers; because I get invested. I can’t give a full five stars, as I felt it was not a holy cow wow, but was definitely a solid 4 star read! Highly recommend!
Will make sure to buzz around platforms and use low Amazon reviewer number on release date!

Thank you so much to #NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the ARC in exchange for my review.

This book started out great! A child kidnapped when she was only 4 years old and then finally returned to her family, but she has no memory of what happened to her.

Oh this book had so much potential. I was expecting to fly through it and not be able to put it down, but it was a little on the slow side and it took me longer than I wanted to get through it. There are some twists that are in there but a lot of it is predictable which is why I think I lost interest.

The main character, Holly was abducted as a young girl, only to be found with little to no memory of the time she was away. Now an adult, there is either a copy cat or the person who abducted her is still out there and doing the same thing to other little girls.

This was a book that grabbed me from the first pages. I love a good mystery and this book didn't disappoint. Although the ending was predictable to me, I think it is just from years of reading and not anything that the author lacked. Suspense until the end of the chapters!
