I used to love this series, but I found this book to be slow and I felt like I had to really push myself to plod through. Hold the mystery was fun, there was simply too much extra I needed to get through. I think I would have enjoyed this more if it wasn’t as long.

This series is so enjoyable. I love the characters, the town and they mysteries. The author is always able to keep me guessing about the mystery and the motive of the murderer. The characters have moved forward since the last book which is always nice. I look forward to more.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the fourth entry in the Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series by Lauren Elliott. The book is well written with characters who are well defined and who have a lengthy history with each other. I had not read any of the previous books but had little trouble in picking up on all of the relationships. The main question to be solved by the police is whether there has been a murder or death by natural causes. Addison (Addie) Greybourne is also able to point out the possibility of theft of some rare book material which gives this book a wider point of interest.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for an e-galley of this novel.

This is a locked room mystery. Addie is assisting with an inventory at a house sale and there are thefts of rare objects and an unpopular appraiser is murdered.

There are plenty of suspects including Addie herself. There are lots of red herrings and interesting characters. I'm not keen on the new character Ryley who seems to be a permanent fixture for future books. Also, I'm not sure that Addie and Simon are a good romantic match.

I enjoyed the mystery and the book and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

I liked this book a lot. The first chapter effectively set the scene of a scary, haunted house in the description of Hill Road House. The house itself became an important figure in this story. Added to it were the regular characters in the series and several new ones to serve as suspects to the nefarious goings-on in the story. I disliked the discord between Addie and Marc, but I was satisfied with the ending. The ghostly escapades and thievery were successfully explained by the story's end. I found the book to be one of my favorite of the series. If you like mysteries with a touch of the gothic, you will definitely like this one.
I received an Advance Review Copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

This was a really good mystery and a fun story to read. The way the relationships turned sour made me really sad, but it ended up working out in the end. I still love this series and will continue to enjoy the exploits of Addie and her friends.

Addison Grayson is at the local haunted house helping an old family friend catalog rare books for his auction, but he has her working with a nasty woman whom they find dead the next day in the library. Enter ex-boyfriend Marc who’s just returned to town and his FBI new love Ryley. They both seem determined to charge Addy for the crime, and she has to fight to clear her name.
This book is all about the characters and moving their stories along, and less about the mystery which I found uninteresting. I once again find myself annoyed with the main character Addy, as she vacillates between her feelings for Marc and Simon, finally settling on the fact she’s in love with Simon, but it always sounds like she’s talking herself into it, and her reasoning always seems more logical than emotional.
There are a slew of characters to blame for the mystery, and mysteries within mysteries which is interesting, but the ending seemed far fetched.
I hate to write negatively about this series, because I do enjoy it, but I think it could be so much more than it is.

Proof of Murder is a pleasant continuation of the series. Addie is on her way to replenish classic stock when she finds another body, in the library. She is under suspicion. Marc returns with a woman in tow. Addie and Simon grow closer, despite Marc's return. I liked the plot and the secret passageways in the mansion. I still don't care for Marc or his new flame, who is set to become a permanent fixture in the town. Addie stumbles across a cousin who should also add some slice to upcoming mysteries.

I found this book to be slow. The mystery investigating just dragged on with nothing really happening. I had a hard time getting into this book I did enjoy the ending with the reveal of the bad guy, it was definitely nothing that I expected. There was nothing but a brief mention of the bad guy, until the reveal, throughout the book. The hidden chamber and tunnel was interesting. #ProofofMurder #NetGalley

I had a lot of fun reading this book. It’s full of excitement, revenge, lies, betrayals and so much more.
Addie Greyborne is a great character and I found her relationship with Marc extremely interesting in Proof of Murder by Lauren Elliot.
I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series.

Enter the world of appraisers of books, including priceless first editions. Addie Greyborne, owner of the Beyond the Page booksellers is a vetted appraiser of rare books but also cheerfully sells reading copies. By happenstance she becomes involved in a locked room murder with no apparent cause, is dogged as a suspect by a hostile FBI agent who is sloppy in her due diligence, and is forced to find valid evidence of her innocence and point to the real culprit. Absolutely amazing twist at the end!

I have truly enjoyed this series by Lauren Elliott and this book may be the best yet. As we follow the main character Addie, who also owns a book store, she finds herself trying to solve murders and the suspect in this book is Addie herself. She must figure out who is trying to frame her, and supply clues to the local Police Chief so he can arrest the right culprit. This book could be read as a stand-alone book, but I would suggest the reader start from the beginning of the series to follow all the characters. This series is a lot of fun, and most of the characters are likable, and the others you’d just like to slap. The book is full of twists and turns, and I had no idea the book would end like it did. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Kensington Books. All opinions expressed are my own.

Addie Greyborne is searching for some new stock for her bookstore and runs into an old family friend who is running the local estate sale. Addie steps in to help with some last minute book appraisals and ends up being arrested for a murder she didn’t commit. Rubbing salt into the wound, her former paramour, the sheriff, has returned home from training and a trip to Italy with a new love interest. It turns out the woman is an FBI agent and is assisting in the case…and she has her sights set on taking Addie down.

Now Addie has to find out the real murderer, whom she believes stole some very rare books as well, and clear her name. But with the house rumored to be haunted, Addie’s BFF Serena has no interest in going into the house and helping her friend. That leaves Addie and Simon to look into a slew of alternative suspects, including Addie’s cousin who disappeared the night of the murder.

This is a fabulous series and I have enjoyed every single book so far. The writing is solid, the characters well developed and the whodunit is well thought out and leaves you with a slew of red herrings as you try to solve it. I cannot recommend this series enough and it will make a welcome addition to your reading list.

With Proof of Murder, I have read all 4 books in the Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery Series. While I enjoyed the first two, I admit that I found the third a bit of a slog. I'm happy to say that this fourth book has brought the series back on track. In her personal life, Addie has made a choice (and no more love triangle nonsense to deal with), and professionally her bookstore is flourishing. In this outing, Addie is confronted with a locked-room murder mystery and the disappearance of some rare Sherlock Holmes books--that she may be the only one to have seen.

Addie is quickly named as the prime suspect in the untimely death of an unlikable appraiser, and must use her sleuthing skills to clear her name and identify the real culprit. Good, engaging read; I finished it in a day and was satisfied with the outcome. Recommended for all fans of cozies.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for a digital ARC.

Really loved this story . Read it in 2 days. Addie Grey is the sleuth in this series and she is great, She is always getting into some kind of trouble with the law. I highly recommend this book as it is a GOOD READ, I could go on and on about this book.but there is lots of stuff that is going on within the story so I think you should read it for yourself.

I received a free copy of PROOF OF MURDER (Book 4 of the Beyond the Page Bookstore Mysteries) by Lauren Elliott in exchange for an honest review. Addie Greyborne attends an auction preview at the notorious Hill House in Greyborne Harbor with the expectation of replenishing stock for her bookstore. When she arrives, she finds an old family friend in charge of the auction, and things are falling apart; priced inventory is missing, and new items have not been evaluated and priced. Addie is delighted to be able to render assistance, so she spends the day evaluating and pricing rare tomes, and some of them are extremely rare and valuable. The next day, Addie and her family friend uncover a locked-room mystery; a woman is dead, and a set of newly-priced first edition Sherlock Holmes books are missing. Addie soon finds herself under attack from an unexpected quarter. Matt is back in town, and he’s nursing a bitter grudge; he and his FBI associate, Riley, are determined to stretch the facts of the case to pin both murder and grand larceny on Addie. Addie fights back with the truth. If she can find the real culprit, then she can go free, at least until the next crime. We now know Addie had another narrow escape because Matt’s true colors are showing and they’re pretty darn ugly.

I liked this book and enjoy the series. I recommend this book to fans of the series. I recommend the series to fans of cozy mysteries featuring murder, unexpected inheritances, bookstores, small town politics, gossip, love triangles, redemption, and themes like haunted houses, antique auctions, art heists, and pirate treasure.
