Love this book! Bob Goff has a way of helping you want to spring into action. This book makes sure that you're thinking through your purpose and doing what you are intended to do here. There's a quote from the beginning that has affected me and made me think about many things... The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through LOVE. If Goff's other books talk about how he has acted out in love, this one inspires you to dream and get moving on a path that was made for you. |
Excellent uplifting resource to dream.... Dream big....and take action. This is wonderful!!! Bible Based and filled with personal stories... Dream Big by Bob Goff is about moving out of your comfort zones...and walking into your destiny. Practical, step by step guides filled with a beautiful message about God's love for the reader. I wish I was in the audience listening to this book live as Bob Goff has a compelling voice on paper. The other thing I want to do is to buy my own paper version of this book instead of Kindle so that I can highlight, flag and bookmark to my heart's desire!! Definitely a book worth reading and rereading!! (I just ordered a hard copy from Amazon and will probably wind up getting the Audible version too!) Thank you to NetGalley, Nelson Books publishing and author Bob Goff for this temporary advanced review copy for me to read and enjoy. My review is voluntary and my opinions are my own. |
Bob Goff is one of our generations great storytellers. If you have read any of his books, then you know what you are in for with this one. You will laugh and cry and be inspired to live better. What this book does more so than any of his previous books is that it takes his great storytelling and it gives a more practical pathway for the reader to achieve what he has: a life full of big dreams and bigger love. This book is an easy read. Bob is a fun and engaging author and couldn't write a boring book if he tried. His path is simple but definitely not easy, it will take some serious courage to live out our biggest dreams. Good thing he also leads us to the one who gives us courage. Bob Goff is a true teacher and wise sage. Buy this book, find a comfortable place to read, pour yourself your favorite beverage and let Bob lead you to where your heart is wanting you to go. The publisher made this book available via netgalley. These thoughts are my honest review. |

I thoroughly enjoyed DREAM BIG. It felt like a giant hug of solace, encouragement, and motivation--all rolled into one terrific volume. |
Goff helps readers to identify self truths and take actionable steps toward meaningful change with his trademark anecdotal wisdom. Introspective insight punctuated with humor and faith, this title is a kind encouragement for those ready to embrace a personal challenge. |
This is an enjoyable, uplifting, and encouraging book. The author shares personal anecdotes throughout the book to make his points. The main purpose of the book is to dream and then take action. It is also Jesus and God-based. When I checked it was #2 in Christian Personal Growth on Amazon. I appreciated that he wasn't preachy nor did he adhere to any certain religion. It was more like he reminded the reader that there is a place we can always turn to and a Divine source that wants the best for us at all times. It was a worthwhile read, for sure. Thanks to the publisher, the author, and NetGalley for this copy in exchange for an honest review. |
I can’t say enough wonderful things about this book! Not only was it highly motivating and inspiring, but extremely practical and insightful. In Dream Big, author and motivational speaker Bob Goff offers readers down-to-earth and encouraging advice while providing workable and useful tools to help launch one’s personal dreams. Sprinkled throughout this outstanding and easy-to-read book are vignettes from Goff’s own life which relate to his ambition-launching blueprint for readers, the teachings of Jesus and how they can help frame one’s goals, as well as some healthy doses of humor. At the conclusion of the book there is a chapter-by-chapter guide that reviews key highlights and provides thought-provoking questions to assist the reader in the clarification and setting of goals to help launch one’s ambitions. So start dusting off those dreams and get inspired! I received an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed here are my own. #DreamBig #NetGalley #BobGoff #getinspired |
Great read! I felt that this was another wonderful book to add to my Toolbox if you will. I feel like you read the book, take the time, invest the time in yourself and then pull what works for you out, then put it into play. We tend to run on routines, putting our dreams, plans, ideas on a back burner until well, who knows? Good intentions, you know the drill. You have to make time for you. Address what you feel in your heart, what tugs at you, what calls to you and excites you. And this book helps peel that out of you, without just fluffy words, but action plans! Reflection questions win for me. They tie the material you were just presented, into a wonderful, self-directed session. So you can’t just rip thru the book and say “Nice read” and put it on your shelf. You pay attention to the reflection questions and work the material and that is where you start to turn the mirrors around to face you. It gets real folks. Just invest in the book, share with recent grads in your life. I feel that anything that allows you to improve upon YOU, is a win on any level. It’s what YOU take away from it. It’s what you see as a “positive” vs “oh it wasn’t for me”. You can find something workable on any level in this book. If you can’t, well then you may need to work a bit harder on your journey towards taking care of you! ;) |

#Dream Big by Bob Golf “Sometimes the biggest ambition starts with the smallest whisper.” Bob Goff - Bob whispers truth in his latest book. Filled with funny stories, serious thoughts and practical application ideas, Bob leads readers through the opportunities to think, dream, explore and grow. Bob is a class act and a great encourager! No big dreams, no problem. This book will help you learn about yourself at a deeper level and you may find a big dream, too. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Highly recommend! This book was supplied by the author and publisher through #Net Galley for me to read and review. This review reflects my personal thoughts. |

I’ve read each of Bob Goff’s books and while some are full to the brim with whimsy and balloons, the Dream Big book includes all of his characteristic fun as well as tangible, tactical ways to carry forward your dreams. By the end you have both tools and the push needed to find, take action, and thrive in that dream you have been longing for! From the beginning of the book he hits you with truth, such as when Bob wisely notes that: “Never change” was written in my yearbook by at least a dozen people. It’s the worst advice I’ve ever received. We’re supposed to change constantly – into kinder, humbler, more faithful versions of our old selves. This change and growth happens when we sort out the truth from the lies in our lives. I appreciated how Bob stepped through this wh ole journey, from preparation (where he spends the most time), through to setting expectations, exploring what is out there, removing obstacles, taking action, dealing with the inevitable setbacks, and building sustainability. One thing I’ll be stealing in my work as a leader is where Bob laid out his role in supporting those who are on this journey: In this journey we’re setting out on, I’m not your guide; I’m a Sherpa. I’ll tell you why. Guides tell someone what mountain to climb. They order all of the equipment, get the food, buy the tents, and tell the climber what route to take and direct all of the steps taken. Sherpas, on the other hand, let the climber pick the mountain to be climbed, then spend most of their time laying the ropes in advance so the climber can move a little faster. Most importantly, Sherpas tell climbers what they don’t need to take in order to make the summit. Throughout the book, Bob challenges the reader, tells a memorable story to bring clarity and reinforce his point, and brings a smile to your face as you go along the journey. I loved seeing his character shine and the obvious love of both you, his reader, as well as humanity as a whole. In the end, Bob’s latest book, Dream Big, is likely to be another dominant force in the book world and that is well deserved. It’s practical, fun, and my only regret was reading the Kindle version rather than the audiobook. I can only imagine that hearing Bob brings this book to life even more and a some good gut laughing. So go ahead, jump in, and enjoy! I received this book from NetGalley for this review. |
Having recently read and loved Everybody, Always, I was very excited to read a new book by Bob Goff. This book is very readable, and I could easily imagine myself attending a conference with Goff as the speaker, sharing his stories and insights. That said, I did think some things seemed repetitive and like Goff used 50 words to make sure he hammered home an idea that readers could get in 20 words. There are lots of good insights, but I also felt like it was a little disjointed. (But I think if you sat down and worked through the questions at the end, then it would be helpful and keep you on track.) I liked the tone, which was positive and encouraging. One thing that did stand out to me is that it seems like Goff was writing from a place of privilege--he owns boats and planes and lodges in Canada and stuff--and while he definitely has done a lot of good with his wealth, it could make his experiences hard for some readers to relate to. It's easy to talk about quitting your law firm when you've got the money to do it; it's not so easy to quit your job to pursue another ambition when you're struggling to make it. Overall, I definitely liked the ideas and I'd love to listen to Goff as a motivational speaker. 3.5 stars. I read an ARc provided by the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own. |
I love reading books about goals, but I have never read a book like Dream Big, by Bob Goff. Bob doesn’t pull punches. Accomplishing our ambitions will be hard. But when you know who you are, where you are, and what you want, great things are going to happen … or maybe you’ll be arrested and thrown into a jail in India, but hopefully you’ll accomplish great things in the process. This book touched on so many topics that address the whole person. Bob will not only inspire you in accomplishing great things, but also to be the kind of person who connects and impacts others in unique ways. As Larry the Cucumber said, “I laughed. I cried. It moved me, Bob.” I will be rereading this book again and again. I highly recommend it. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. |
This book couldn't have come at a better time. While I was sitting at a cross-roads of closing one dream and wondering how I could be free to dream again, I picked up Dream Big. Truth: I couldn't put this book down and the words felt like they were written specifically for me. Constructed slightly differently than the rest of Bob's books, Dream Big airs on the side of practical. Chapter by chapter, I found I was not only inspired by Bob's stories, but also challenged to act and process all those ambitions I have been carrying for the past few years, and in some instances, decades. Dream Big helps you wake up, sift through your passions, explore opportunities, and dares you to live a life full of deeper meaning and purpose. Unapologetically. And guess what, it's okay if you fail or change your course. As a Junior High Language Arts Teacher, I will be reading this book out loud to my students and encouraging them to each get their own copy. As an entrepreneur, I will be taking the time I need to sit down, do the work within the pages and chart my course. The nuggets of wisdom you will find in this book priceless. Dream Big is for the dreamer, the discouraged, and for those who are simply content or need a challenge. May the words in this book light a fire in your heart to be the best you can be, right here, right now. *Thank you to the publisher Thomas Nelson for an ARC via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.* |

I devoured this book! Honestly, as I do all of Bob Goff's books. Bob Goff is the definition of love and wisdom. He loves freely and gives his wisdom away freely. I've always felt like I had more to offer the world but really wasn't sure of what that would be. It's not that I discovered my purpose through his words, necessarily, but more I acknowledged what God can use through me to offer the world. This is the most encouraging book. Everyone should read - no matter your spiritual background. Thank you, Bob Goff, for your wisdom and knowledge. Thank you, Netgalley, for this ARC. Read this book! |
Go behind the scenes with the friendly fireball that is Bob Goff to research, identity, plan and give wings to your strongest ambitions. The goal is to impact others through you. Goff shares both successes and setbacks while approving of both as catalysts for life change. Dream Big is inspiring, encouraging, uplifting, thoughtful and challenging. Be prepared with tissues for the final chapter. The epilogue is full of helpful questions and tasks to guide your big dream. I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion. |

I love Bob Goff! He has come to our church numerous times and is always good for a laugh. This was a great book! Although I don't think it matters what Bob writes about, you can always hear his humor in the books. I highly recommend any book by Bob. |
Goff is one of my favorite authors and I was excited to be able to read this book--although it was shorter than his other books. What dreams did you have that you put aside? What's holding you back from trying again? Goff uses his trademark casual, friendly tone throughout the book, urging the reader to remember those things they've always wanted to accomplish, then urges them forward. As usual, this book was uplifting and encouraging! I was an early reader, thanks to #NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Publishers. |
I received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review. This is the first book I have read by Bob Goff and I wanted to read the book because I like to see what others see. In this book, I discovered you should have dreams and you should no what you want. That is not me but I read the book and decided to start deciding what I wanted and have a dream to have it come true. The book is helping me do this. The other thing about this book is I went into reading it with the idea it was just a self-help book but as soon as I started reading it, I laughed and told myself that I needed to take it more serious but as I kept reading and learning his journey, there were parts of the book that was really funny. The book kept me reading and it was the story of his journey. I really enjoyed reading it and also liked the many things I learned. I will continue to practice what I learned but I have discovered in my life, that you read a book and you see what applies to your life now but when I read the same book further along in my journey, I can see and understand new things so I am sure this is a book to keep and keep on learning new things as my journey continues. |
Another amazing book by Bob Goff. He is a man full of wisdom, encouragement, and funny stories. I love all of his books because he is relatable and he practices what he speaks. He lives life to the fullest and loves even more! I hope that this book encourages everyone that there dreams are worthy and they can follow them! |
The subtitle of Dream Big is “Know What You Want, Why You Want It, and What You’re Going to Do About It. Seems a bit overwhelming, doesn’t it? Well it turns out that the author, Bob Goff, is “a lover of balloons, cake pops, and helping people pursue their big dreams” (that’s what his Amazon bio says.) I will listen to anyone who loves cake pops and it turns out that the author and his book were even better than all the treats he loves. I will be rereading the book again, very soon. I read it quickly the first time- because his anecdotes are so funny, and comforting and they got my brain to thinking and reconsidering. I couldn’t wait to get to the next story, so I do need to spend more time with the nuts and bolts of the book. And I promise I will dive in to the Reflection Questions and Action Ideas too, which are almost like another book- loaded with more good info. Yes, this is an entertaining and relatable book that really helped me because I usually find self-help books hard to understand. The big idea here is how to determine and then achieve your ambitions, big or small. I highlighted so many parts of the book. What really resonated with me on my first read is the idea of being available to people, all the time. That idea had all ready been tickling in my brain, so I am now even more open. Stop by! Here’s another idea- how about quitting something every Thursday? That’s easy to understand, isn’t it? You can quit a task, chore, habit, anything that’s taking up space in the junk drawer of your brain. This is currently my favorite idea from the book- We shouldn’t be like a baseball umpire. No need to call balls and strikes on each other. Rather, we should be a base coach waving people on as they hustle and round the bases to home. (I hope you remember baseball…) Enjoy this inspiring, informative and positive book. I received an advance review copy from NetGalley and Nelson Book. This is my honest review. |
