I loved this book! It's well-written, enjoyable, and a great read. Sandie Jones always does a great job of writing in a way that captures the readers attention, and makes you not want to put it down until you're finished! I would highly recommend it!

Once I picked this one up I simply couldn't put it down. I found it to be well written and full of twist and turns that kept me guessing until the end. It's been a long time since I've read a thriller book that I actually enjoyed, I was starting to think the genre wasn't for me. This book restored my faith in the genre, I've got to read more by this author.

The topic of uploading your DNA to a genealogy website and getting shocking information in return was ripe for a thriller novel and The Other Sister did not disappoint.

Thank you to @netgalley and @stmartinspress for a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I can always count on @sandiejones_author for a good domestic thriller. The Half Sister pulled me in right away and I couldn’t put it down. The sudden appearance of an illegitimate child of a father that recently passed away will always make you go “hmmmm”. Of course there is going to be drama. The characters are relatable and the storylines twist and turn until they are tied up in a very nice bow at the end.

4 stars

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

After the death of her father, Lauren decides to add her information to a genealogy website hoping that finding other relatives will bring her and her mother and sister closer and help them assimilate their grief. What she didn’t expect was that one day after sharing a family dinner a knock at the door brings Jess to their life. Jess claims she’s their half sister.

Although the sisters are shocked Lauren seems more accepting of Jess but Kate believes there must be an error because her distinguished father who was a lawyer would never have had an extramarital affair and fathered a child. The girls’ mother thinks this is ludicrous as well. However both Kate and Lauren each have a lot going on in their lives, for example Kate is trying to get pregnant, and instead of finding comfort in each other they are being separated by their feelings towards Jess.

Jess for her part just wants to be recognized as a half-sister but is that really her only motive for coming into their lives? The set up for the story is fascinating because genealogy services seem to be getting more popular and I do wonder how many people are surprised by some of the findings. Some of my issues with the story are mainly issues I have with a lot of thrillers and that’s lack of communication being the reason why misunderstandings lead to more complications but overall I thought this was a fast-paced read and I am sure I’ll read more by this author.

ate and Lauren are sisters who have drifted apart after their father passed away 10 months ago. There is some jealousy involved as well and that can bring along tension, too. In walks Jess, claiming to be their half-sister, and the story starts going various ways after that bombshell is dropped.

This book ended totally different than I could've imagined it would end. So many secrets and lies among several main characters! This thriller/mystery has so many twists and turns that you'll be guessing right until the end!

Thank you to NetGalley and Minotaur books for the free review copy! 2.5 stars, This title did not work well for me at all. I generally enjoy the author's works, but this one fell flat for me. It was fairly predictable and lacked the element of surprise that I was hoping for,.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book. I loved The Other Woman and The First Mistake and couldn’t wait to dive into this one! The Half Sister by Sandie Jones is another example of a fun and twisty psychological thriller that we have come to love from this author! I her love her writing, it ever disappoints! Recommend this and her other novels!

I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.

I did not connect with this at all. Not sure if it's the author (this is my first book by her), or the subject matter, but I was just not a fan. I didn't like any of the characters and had no emotional connection to the story.

I really enjoyed The Other Woman, but unfortunately I have struggled with her other work. It's either felt so slow or just left me wanting more every single time. This one felt a bit predictable and not memorable.

I'm so sorry, but this was a DNF for me. While I use to finish all books I start, I found it would be a great disservice to the author and her time spent on this book if I forced myself to finish knowing it wouldn't be a review that would encourage readers to pick it up. Thank you for the opportunity to read this!

Absolutely loved this book. It sucked me in from the getgo and had me guessing all the way to the end. Did not want it to end at all.

Jones is one of my favorite authors. I lover her writing and she keeps me engaged. Kate and Lauren are sisters. They have had a lot of loss and are grieving terribly. Kate is in an IVF battle and Lauren is unhappy with her life. Lauren has three children. One knock at the door has a woman claiming to be their dads daughter. What a terrible game they think she’s playing. They can’t even ask him since he is dead. Kate is a journalist and starts to investigate on her own. Will she unravel secrets, is Jess really their half sister?

This was a great family drama/mystery type book, but not a big thriller. It was a good book that kept me interest. A fast paced book that was a quick thrill.

As a family drama, this novel is wonderful. Intuitive, sensitive, sharp, ringing true. Sisters Kate and Lauren are like sense&sensibility in a way that one is driven journalist with a hound-like grip on the meaning behind; one is lovely people-pleaser with sweet saviour complex. I like them both and both are well-written characters whose interactions are rhe real force of this novel.
As a mystery - much less sizzle there. The mystery enters the plot really, really late. And while one senses what is going on; the abrupt ending still feels like a shortcut instead of meaningful wrap. I was thinking 4 star review, but precisely because of the ending I am going for 3 stars.
But I will follow this talented writer nonetheless, in hopes the next novel will get better closure of motifs!
