Being a primary school teacher and having taught many children with ADHD over the years, this book is a breath of fresh air.
It makes the condition less ‘scary’ by offering simple yet helpful and informative information in bite size chunks which cuts out all of the jargon and goes directly to what parents, teachers and children themselves what to know. I will be recommending this book to parents and pupils coming to terms with their diagnosis.

Do you have ADHD? Does your child have ADHD? Does your brother or sister have ADHD? Does your friend have ADHD? Do you have students in your class with ADHD? If you answered yes then you should read this book. In fact even if you answered no you should read this book. It turns much of what you know about ADHD on its head. . The author, who has ADHD herself helps to redefine ADHD as A adventurous D determined H hyperfocused D dreamer. Using rhyming text and bright illustrations that exemplify each situation this book takes the reader through many of the issues that arise for the person with ADHD on a regular basis. At the same time the author shares tools she has used to celebrate who she is. On the last few pages of the book she offers tips for those with ADHD, their parents and teachers. Most importantly is recognizing the gifts of ADHD..

The book is geared for children ages 5 - 9. It is great to know that the author reaches out to the community online and through workshops as well.

Wow. This book really hit home for me. As an adult with ADHD, this book really described my feelings and a lot of the way my brain works. This book was really impressive, both in the way it described ADHD and in the illustrious and colorful pictures. I loved the rhyming format of the book, which can help children with ADHD understand what they have and why they are different, and help their peers without ADHD understand them and the way their brains work. I feel like many children could relate to some of the feelings the girl in the book experiences and I feel like this book is a good conversation starter into feelings and the different ways children learn and see the world. I also enjoyed the tips in the back of the book, which can help children and their parents deal with ADHD.

This is a picture book for kids with ADHD and their families. It follows a little girl, explaining how she thinks and feels and processes things. A great book to give children the tools to talk to their parents, teachers and others around them about why they are behaving in a certain way. The illustrations leave a little bit to be desired but I still thought this was a wonderful and informative book.

I requested and received an e-ARC of this book from NetGalley and Purple Butterfly Press in exchange for an honest review.

At times I found the illustrations in this book quite frenetic which I guess is the point since the author is trying to convey what it is like to have ADHD. This book would be a great resource for kids, parents, and teachers to help them understand the feelings and thoughts that children with ADHD have.

Wonderful little book to help children with ADHD have a better understanding of themselves and their feelings. Helps them to see that they might have a different way of thinking that might make things more difficult but there are things that can help. Goes a long way to reassure a child that they are truly unique and valuable!! Builds the child's confidence as well!

As a parent with a child who has ADHD, I think that this book is brilliant for a young child who has just been diagnosed, or even younger siblings and peers to give them the understanding and a slight insight into what ADHD is and means fro their sibling or friend. The words that are used within the book are really positive and show how having ADHD can be a good thing and makes them a unique person! The illustrations are lovely as well and are bright and colourful making the book even more positive. I would be happy for my child with ADHD to read this book and will be reading it with him.

"Hi, It's Me" author Kately Mabry really gets it in a world that needs gotten. Kids have a hard-enough time just being kids but adding ADHD into the mix is like wrangling kittens. The book touches on the most stand out behaviors of kids with ADHD. The messy workspace, the racing mind and the ever present "wiggles". It is written in a way that kids and adults who read the book can get a glimpse of a day in the life of a regular kid who just so happens to have ADHD. The author had the main character explains in rhyme what it is like in her world and some of the coping mechanisms she uses to help her get through the day.
I would highly recommend "Hi, It's Me!”. As a good read for kids to help them understand that they are more than just a diagnosis. They have so much to offer and if they do not fit the mold it is OK. I would also recommend the book as a learning tool for the classroom. It is easy to read, and Mabry does an excellent job with getting on level with the target audience...kids. "Hi, It's Me" even offers a few tips for parents at the end of the book.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

This is a fantastic book set out in a rhyming format for chikdren with ADHD to better understand what they have and why they are different to others, and also for children without ADHD to better understand children with ADHD.
I work in a class with 6 chikdren who have ADHD and they will love this book because it is so relateable to them! I cant wait to share it with them.
At the back of the book the author has provided two pages of information, one for children with ADHD and one for carers and parents, which are both very useful pieces of information and tips.

This book is everything. A really important book that everybody should read. It's so well writtend and explained.

"Sometimes my feelings go up and down, that's when my head spins round and round. Sometimes I think real fast, then I think real slow. I feel like at times I'm just going to blow!"

It'll help both kids and parents. Parents to understand a bit what's going on on their children's mind and the tips are the end of the books are really helpful. To kids to understand that they are not alone, that they are their own little wonder. I loved all the messages conveyed by these beautiful and colorful drawings!

I really, really enjoyed reading this book, and will be passing it on to my stepdaughter! Living with ADD myself, it has always been hard for me to watch the struggles that she goes through when her ADHD gets out of her control. This book really helps to show that not only is she not alone in her diagnoses, but that she can ultimately find ways to use her creative mind to succeed!

This was a sweet book of a girl narrating her experience as a child with ADHD. It does a good job of showing this particular girls’ experience but does not show how different children react or respond differently with ADHD.
