I throughly enjoyed this. It had the hint of P&P and many colorful characters to make for a wonderful story!
Several things surprises me and it was hard to put down.
The h and H had to really fight for their relationship and I enjoyed watching them figure it out.
The organization of events in the plot of the story well executed. And of course I got my HEA! Yay!
I definitely recommend this book if you love a good historical cleanish romance.

This is a NETGALLEY gift from the publisher and all opinions are my own. Thank you for reading my honest review.

This is a book that gets mixed opinions from me. In many ways, the relationships of various forms were well developed and some of the historical details of living in the Regency time period that we’re included in the book were spot on. On the other hand, I thought the overall characters and some of the writing style was underdeveloped and really didn’t keep me interested at times. So as someone who typically likes the Regency-era, I think I have to say that it had promise but in the end I just wasn’t as interested in the actual storyline as I hoped I would be.

This had the feel of a sprawling family epic, but pared down and contained into a single novel. I thoroughly enjoyed coming to understand the hero and heroine, and their families, and watch their relationship slowly blossom. It felt natural. There is a villain, of course, and he felt most unnatural, which did detract from the story a bit - he was very under-developed. But that said, I’d happily read more from the author.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

If you like a well rounded romance, filled with plenty of historical, day-to-day insights of living, this is the book for you. The hero is a returned soldier from Waterloo who is the son of the local vicar. Obviously, this makes him socially acceptable but financially unacceptable. The heroine is from the local gentrybeith her parents looking for a peer for her to marry. The hero is a friend of her brother who did not survive the battle and both are well known to each other since childhood. There are a few antagonists in this lovely story who meet their come-uppance in appropriate ways. There is a little bit of danger and intrigue, but for the most part, a delightful story of love.
This was a well written story with few grammar or spelling errors. The characters, who are likeable and believable, speak in ways that are more appropriate to historical rhetoric. There are no modern phrases or ways of speech. The story line is comprised of clever plots woven into a strong telling. It is a smooth read, as each chapter rolls along and was difficult to put down. When I was finished reading it, it was so good, I wanted to read it over again. I would definitely buy this book and recommend to others. 5 stars
