The plot is a bit predictable and the pacing starts off slowly.
However, there are numerous twists and turns. I loved the ending of this book.
A fun entertaining book

Big thank you to netgalley, the author and the publishers for sending me a copy of this to read and review.

I absolutely love thrillers. However, detective thrillers are some of my least read of the genre. So, when I came across this one it intrigued me so much that I wanted to give it a go. I'm glad I did. I actually read both books in the series and I enjoyed them both. I thought it would be unfair to start with this one in case not reading the first made me confused, its easily done. I really enjoyed seeing the characters connections in this one as well as seeing what a police officer will do to save another police officer, even when they're dirty.

This book felt very relevant to current society, and I am glad I picked it up.

I read a lot these days, but experienced a bit of a reading slump. Luckily this one of the first books I picked up lately, and I couldn't wait to read and finish all of them! The book was very well written, and the author is now one of my new favorite authors! Highly recommended.

I'm really enjoying the Jessie Tucker books and can't wait for the next one! This is another great read, full of tension and with great characters.

2nd in a series but works very well on it's own, this story revolves around Jessie, who is a journalist. She begins investigating the murder of a young police officer, Maura who is the daughter of another police officer who is very high up the ranks.

Killed with her own weapon and left in an alley, Maura's story evolves around mobs and that "dirty cop" kind of story.

I enjoyed this book, it moved along nicely and I read it very fast

Thanks Netgalley and Bookouture for the ArC

Though I wish I would have read the first book in the series, THE GOLDEN GIRL was quite an addictive read.

The Golden Girl by Dana Perry is the 2nd book in the Jessie Tucker Mystery series which was an excellent book. I do need to confess, I haven't read the first book but, I will go back and read it but it didn't but a downer on this book. I found it full of twists and turns throughout that had me hooked within the very first few pages. and I did find it very hard to put it down, so all my chores for the day went out of the window.

I highly recommend Dana's latest book. It did not disappoint

Big thank you to the author Dana Perry, Bookouture the Publishers and Netgalley for the digital copy. Read and reviewed voluntarily,

What a cracking read. The first time for me with this author, but it won't be my last. Wow so gripping and intriguing. It is a little repetitive in places, but still a great book. Recommended.

While I am grateful to the author and publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this title, a busy schedule got in the way, and I was unable to read it before it was archived on Netgalley. I will be looking for a physical copy of this title at my local bookstore!

The Golden Girl by Dana Perry is the second book in the series... which I didn't realise when I requested it from NetGalley but hey ho, continue on we must.

The Golden Girl herself is police officer Maura Walsh who comes from a long line of established NYPD officers and who is daughter to the Deputy Commissioner of the NYPD. Unfortunately, for Maura, she is gunned down at the start of the book and it's up to The New York Tribune crime reporter, Jessie Tucker to try and piece together the crime.

If anyone has read any of my previous reviews then you would know I am sick to the teeth of police procedurals... this is slightly different as it's told from the perspective of a crime reporter but still focuses very heavily on the NYPD. However, I genuinely enjoyed this book and although it does mention bits and pieces from the previous novel, you don't necessarily have to have read that to enjoy this.

Jessie has some gumption as you find out in this book and nothing will stop her getting her story. What I actually liked was that Dana Perry works in the NY media so she has a good insight in to it. Jessie is as tenacious as they come and I certainly would not be cut out for a crime reporter if that's what they have to do... give me the quiet life please!

It's quite a tragic story as well as you see in the book just how easy people's lives can unravel in a moment. The characters are well written and intriguing, I really liked Jessie even though I'm surprised with her track record that she has even gotten to 35 years of age...!!!!

My one gripe was the ending. It was one of those books that just didn't seem to know when to end. It could have stopped about five chapters back from where it eventually ended! I was like "ok, this is the ending surely" considering it seems like it's a continuing series but nope... there was another chapter, and another chapter and oh look! Another chapter...

Taking the long goodbye out of the picture, The Golden Girl is a solid read and I found the twists and turns very well written and unpredictable for the most part. Definitely one to keep you hooked. A solid 3.5 starts from me.

I recieved this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I did not know that this was the second book in a series. However, this book still is really readable in spite of that. It is a fast-paced book, and it kept you reading the entire time. I liked the mystery.

I was interested in this book because it was a mystery not told in the usual way by the main detective. The main character was a reporter, I didn’t particularly like her, but either did I hate her. I personally didn’t like some of the main characters views on corruption.. This book was a quick enjoyable read. I was interested enough in wanting to know what happened to finish it. I like how it had a side story in it about her family mixed in with the main story. It is a mixture of the characters and the execution of the plot that made it only 3 stars for me. Something was lacking for me, although I am sure other people might like it more.

I really enjoyed this book. I found the characters to be interesting, and the story kept me hanging. I just had to keep reading to find out what would happen. This had lots of twists and turns to keep you thinking, and I highly reocommend.

I hadn’t read the first book in this series but I really wished I had. It can be read as a stand-alone but I always wish I knew more about the characters background. Jessie Tucker is an investigative journalist. She has suffered two attacks some years previously one of which she was left to die but survived but with plenty of scars. She comes across a case of a police officer, Maura Walsh, who has been attacked and murdered whilst on her shift and left to die in an alleyway. Jessie starts looking into Maura’s past and it begins to appear that she was involved in corruption and accepting bribes. Jessie realises that more people may be involved and keeping secrets. There are plenty of twists as she carries out her investigation uncovering corrupt police officers and family secrets and she has to sift through all these to discover the truth. This was a brilliantly well written plot and storyline and had me gripped from the start. A highly recommended read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

This was a really well written police procedural book! The pace was good, and the characters were great! I really enjoyed reading it and trying to figure out the mystery!

Wasn't aware until I read it that this was the second book in a series about Jessie and I'm not sure if it's been spoilt for me.

That being said this was a good book with twists and turns and solid characters.

Thank you to Netgalley, author and publisher for the copy

The Golden Girl by Dana Perry sees Jessie Tucker solve yet another murder in her own style, this time of a lady cop. The story is for the patient reader since the build up is slow. The plot twists are what really kept me going.

Unfortunately, the repetition that annoyed me in the first book of the series is also used here. It's just not working Dana.

Although this can be read as a standalone book since the protagonist solves an independent case, it is recommended to read the first book to get more background information about how Jessie Tucker, the reporter, came into being. Hints pertaining to the same, though available several times in this book, are just not enough in my opinion.

Thanks to the author and the publisher for the ARC.

Maura Walsh a police officer Is found shot dead in an alley she is the daughter of Deputy Commisioner of NYPD Mike Walsh .The investigation seems to be going the way of it being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Jessie Tucker a journalist wants to do a story on Maria. When she starts digging into what Maria was up to she uncovers corruption, revenge, family secrets amongst other things . Was Maria into something she shouldn’t have been.
Jodie doesn’t give up trying to get the truth even when her own life is at risk.
Thanks NetGalley
