If you are a fan of Tiffany Reisz' previous works, this title won't disappoint. Author's writing is superb and even though this installment is a lot milder when it comes to kink, it's still full of passion. Can be read as standalone (I haven't read books 6 through 8 and wasn't lost).

I was BLOWN away at how quickly I got hooked! A priest's death. A dominatrix. A detective. Murder mystery the best I've seen in a long while.

I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Tiffany Reisz is not a new to me author. However that said I haven’t read any of the original sinners series before. Since this is book 9 of the series I appreciated the recap of important events. It was a twisted, heart wrenching, emotional journey that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Thank you to the Publisher and Netgalley for the advanced reader copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

The Priest is the latest in Tiffany Reisz's Original Sinners series. (I can't believe we're at 9 books so far!!) This book takes a departure from what I've come to expect from Reisz, especially with these stories.

Reisz takes the sinners cast down to New Orleans in The Priest. This may seem weird to some but I personally think it's a perfect city for this cast of characters. There's an air of mystery in NOLA that doesn't exist in other places, and it fits well with them. Søren, the protagonist that I've always had a bit of a love/hate relationship with, is a father now, and this has led to his suspension from the Jesuits. Now he finds himself stuck between a proverbial rock and hard place as he contemplates what he wants more: to return to the Jesuits or to be a father.

Although the book highlights the internal struggles of Søren and changes in Nora's world, there's a mystery to solve, which is different from most of the other books. I enjoyed this addition and Reisz didn't disappoint, but kept me on my toes with the turn of every page.

Søren may be the focal point of this book but I personally fell in love with Nora's storyline. She finds a piece of herself and embarks on this unexpected path of self-discovery. And personally, I can't think of a better setting for this to take place than in NOLA. I adore Nora even more after reading this and she's that much more relatable as well.

I was a bit sad that we didn't get to see much of Kingsley in this one, because he's my favorite, but I trust that we'll get plenty of him in upcoming novels.

This story seems t have left Sinners fans with mixed emotions but, in my opinion, you must read it if you've been following the series this far. It fits in nicely and advances the series to a new level.

Five stars to this novel!

Listen, y'all.

I.

Was.

NOT.

Prepared.

I thought I was. I wasn't.

Tiffany Reisz got with me with the title and I went into The Priest thinking I knew what was going on and I really didn't.

First of all the opening scene had my full attention. It absolutely grabbed me and insisted that this not be a slow read for me. I picked this book up every chance I had--using it as a reward to motivate me to get work done so that I could continue to read.

The story of Cyrus and his investigation to the suicide of a priest was such a nice pairing to the story of Soren and Nora. The contrasts and parallels that were made as the mystery deepened and then was solved just enhanced every aspect of my reading. Cyrus had some funny and poignant observations and was a good foil for Nora and Soren. And, Nora was a good influence (!) on Cyrus. I really enjoyed the pairing of the storyline and characters.

And I return to where I started--I wasn't prepared for the emotional feelings I had, especially near the end. I'm not sure if it only what was happening between these characters or that I have no idea if or when we'll see a continuation of the story of our Original Sinners. All I know is that I've spent the last few weeks in their world (reading The King, The Queen, and now The Priest) and I don't want them to be over yet. *sad face*

Truly a fantastic read from start to finish and one, I hope, that is opening the door for new characters and books in this series.

PS-As a New Orleanian, I'm HERE for these characters being in New Orleans and Tiffany Reisz doing New Orleans right!

This is the first book that I have read in The Original Sinners series. I felt that it can be read as a standalone, it was easy to get into, but I knew that there was so much that I was missing from not reading the previous books.
With all that being said, I liked the story but found it to be to long. I just kept waiting for something to happen but every chapter was so drawn out.

I have to start out by saying I haven't read the Sinner's Series, but now I know I need to! The Priest by Tiffany Reisz is dark and mysterious. She has another beautifully written dark erotic romance. It will keep you in suspense and wanting more!

This is everything i wanted in a book- mystery, new characters and well, Soren and Mistress Nora.
I've read it twice now, the book and on audible - both are excellent. Would and have recommended to others!

I absolutely loved this book! I loved seeing Nora and the gang out of New England and in the mysterious, but no less bewitching New Orleans. The Priest also dealt with The Original Sinners' elephant in the room (Soren's early treatment of Nora and the parallels between them and clergy abuse) in a way that was tactful and mindful of Nora's growth as a character. These characters have come a long way, but it's clear that they still have a ways to go—and I can't wait for more stories!

Cyrus Tremont is a private investigator who had a very intense life in the past. He has reformed and is engaged to a sweet woman named Pauline. One day Cyrus receives a call to investigate a little more about the alleged suicide of a famous priest in New Orleans. This is not the kind of investigation he usually does, but he accepts at the request of his girlfriend.

Cyrus does not know that this case will lead him to take a look at a world full of mysteries, sins and very interesting characters like The Mistress Nora, The Viking

What would happen when a bad boy reformed meets a dominatrix to investigate the death of a priest with a secret? You’ll see.

MY IMPRESSIONS
According to the synopsis of The Priest, despite being part of the series The Original Sinners is the perfect book to approach Tiffany Reisz because it is partly standalone. Since it was a mystery, I decided to give it a try. Tiffany is the favorite author of my good friend Angy, who has always wanted me to read all the books in the series as the good fangirl that she is, but even though BDSM is a genre that I like, Reisz has always intimidated me.

The Priest is almost perfect, although I can’t explain why it’s not perfect. The story of Father Ike and the mysteries that surround him involve you from the first page, the sin committed by the priest is the one you’re thinking about, however, Tiffany raises it from a very interesting perspective and accompanies it with a feminist struggle that I had not thought of until this moment.

The relationship between Nora, Søren and King is very interesting and kinky, which obviously made me interested in exploring the rest of the series.

I loved the friendship that develops between Nora and Cyrus, their sense of humour is great and they made me laugh several times. It’s definitely a good book to approach Reisz’s series.

“If the day comes when I can’t give you anything, at least here, now, I can give you everything”

“I will never leave you,” she said.

He nodded solemny. “Now that’s all I wanted to hear.”

My rate is 4.5 intense stars because The Priest is a book full of mysteries, sins, sensuality, brilliantly written by Tiffany Reisz.

Brilliant! Tiffany Reisz is my unicorn for a reason. All the stars in the world.
Loved everything about this book.

I never know what to expect from a Reisz novel, especially one in the Original Sinners world. And I mean that in a good way! Reisz always throws in an interesting plot twist or new character or plot line, all while maintaining the world and character consistency that we expect and love about this series. The Priest tackled some hard issues, and certainly ones that many longtime readers have wrestled with from the start. While I can see why this particular story had to be told from the POV of a new character, I still missed having Nora, Kingsley, and Soren's voices and fun interactions. The Priest was definitely not my favorite book, but I still enjoyed the journey. I'd say this one fell somewhere between 3 1/2 and 4 stars. I still look forward to whatever other tales we can expect from this world.

A darkly intriguing book full of eroticism and mystery. It's basically erotica interweaved with a crime thriller. Definitely something you could sink your teeth into for some distraction reading.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. Ms. Reisz does it yet again. Another brilliant look into the The Original Sinners world.

This book was thrilling. Classically Tiffany Reisz, it was beautifully written with characters that are so real that you feel like you know them and a tightly woven story from start to finish. It was heartbreaking and inspiring all at once and I love how well Reisz writes women coming into their own power. Unbelievably sexy, maddeningly suspenseful, the book will have you turning pages until you’re done.

***4 Stars***

Confession first: I haven’t read all of the Original Sinners books. I’ve read a couple and then some that are connected to the world of, but I still consider myself a newbie to the world and the intricacies of the relationships between all of the main characters. But with that said, I thoroughly enjoyed my time in their world and didn’t feel lost at all. I mean, my interest in Nora, Søren and Kingsley got kicked up a good bit and has me wanting to mess with my TBR list so I can truly dive into their world, but I never felt like I was so far out in left field when it came to their unique dynamic that I lost interest in the book.

With that said, the mystery of why Father Ike committed suicide was very well done. While there were parts that dragged a bit for me, the twists and turns in the story kept me turning the pages to see how everything would turn out and it was definitely one for the ages.

But what really held my interest was the budding friendship between Cyrus and Nora. I loved their bantering and how they may appear to be total opposites, they actually have quite a bit in common and seeing it play out was a lot of fun.

I’m crossing my toes that we’ll be seeing Cyrus and Pauline again, because they definitely make a great team, but I’m also curious to see what happens next in the lives of Nora, Søren and Kingsley because they’ve got a lot of things that need to be handled.

oh my goddddd,

I thought i was over them, but nope. This world is fascinating and characters are so multi dimensional and well developed. You fall in love with them over and over again.

You think you have them figured out and tiffany throw another book at us to let us know how little we do.

Please do not stop keep writing about them. About the world you created. I can't wait for another book

DNF @ 14%, so no rating. I don't feel like much has happened in this book so far, and I feel like the tone is different from the rest of the series. 14% in, and I'm already over how stunning and beautiful every single character is. This is also a case of being careful what you wish for. Because while I always want more of The Original Sinners, I feel like this series has run its course.

The Priest begins with an investigation into the death of a priest. His last phone call was to a Mistress Nora. Why would he call Nora, someone hes' never met? Nora sets out to solve the mystery in spite of the risks to herself and everything she holds dear.
I don't usually read romantic suspense but Reisz is one of those authors I will read, regardless of what she writes. Part of a series, it really helps to read the previous installments before taking on this book, as it deepens the readers's understanding of the relationships and side characters who play such an important role in this book.

Reiz's books are a masterclass in showing, not telling, and is one of the primary reasons I read them. She goes deep into her characters and shows you who they are. As a writer, she virtually disappears from her story. I've only read a few writers who can do this and when I find them, I stick to them. It makes her writing so mesmerizing, you don't realize what is happening to you until you're half-way through the book and wondering where the time has gone. And Reisz's characters are not entirely, purely good. They are complex, make wrong decisions, and have sometimes terrible motivations but you can't help but want them to succeed nonetheless. Nora is very much such a character and it is both terrifying and delightful to see her make her way through this mystery.

The Priest also makes great use of the city of New Orleans as its own character. A fascinating city, full of contrasts, secrets and the overtones of the supernatural, Reisz capitalizes on all these associations to add another layer to the story. One person I hope to read more about it Cyrus, her fellow investigator, who seems to have an almost reverential relationship towards his wife, which reveals so much about his own psyche. Nora's relationship with Søren is also fascinating in its own right and you never know if things are going to go sideways with them or the other side characters. The Priest is erotic, chilling and always emotional. You can never assume anything. Excellent read!
