This was my first Tiffany Reisz and I was really excited to try one of her books! But I didn’t realize this was part of an on-going series and it’s recommended to read the series in order. I tried a bit of the book but felt fairly confused. I’m hoping to try this series from the beginning and eventually read The Priest. For now I DNFed.

Taboo-BDSM (If this is not your cuppa I would find another book. )

It's been a while since I've read Nora, Søren, and King. I think the last book I read was three or four. While I didn't quite know what to expect going in, I was wicked excited to be back in their titillating world!

Just an FYI, you could read this as standalone, I wouldn't recommend it. Seriously, start from the beginning. You won't regret it! With this one, I felt a little lost. Some of the story line follows from the other books.

Overall, it was a good book. It took me a little to get into it. I kept falling asleep. Once it picked up, for me, I devoured the pages and was so glad I hung in there. These three made me realize how much I missed them.

The chemistry between Søren and Nora is off the fucking charts hot. *sigh* I don't remember any of my Catholic Priests being anything like our Dom. Makes me wonder what they were hiding behind closed doors. LOL I really, really want to be the middle of a Søren and Nora sandwich, with King as my dessert!

On top of that Nora had killer chemistry with Cyrus. I LOVED their growing friendship. I hope he's in future books. His character helped to make this book what it was. Perfect addition to the series!

I'm off to start the series over again. :)

The premise for this sounded really promising. A murder mystery with a Madame involved? But man. 25% in and I was bored to tears. I didn't care who Soren was or why he had disappeared and had suddenly reappeared. I didn't care why the priest had supposedly killed himself and made Nora his last phone call. I had no feelings toward any of the characters nor the storyline. I can't say for sure if it was the writing or the story. This is my first Tiffany Reisz book, so I won't write her off on this alone. As far as buying it for the library, I feel if purchase if I got requests for it, but not off my reading it.

Nora, Soren, and King are back, this time much more settled in the Big Easy. Settled, until a Priest is found dead and the last person he called was the Queen. Nora finds herself working with a private detective, Cyrus, to crack the case. What starts out as mere curiosity on Nora's part, end up having Nora question her own childhood, her relationship with Soren, and her own future.

I loved the New Orleans backdrop, infused with lots of local color, customs, and "characters" like the "vampire" and a "witch." This author writes delicious layers to her characters, even minor players.

The story started off slow and at first I wasn't that invested in the suspense/mystery aspect of the plot. I was more interested in what's been happening to Soren, Nora, and King. As the plot unfolded, and the scandal revealed, the characters began to question their own choices. As I've read most of the previous books in the saga, I can say that it surprised me that it actually took so long for Nora (and by extension, Soren) to really question how their relationship started. Ahhh! It's so hard to write and not give spoilers! Just know that the mystery is wrapped up, but the true suspense are the decisions that will need to be made by Nora and Soren, how they are justifying their past and for the first time re-examining if one of them is truly a monster.

Even though this book is being promoted as a stand alone in the series, or a good place to start the series as it progresses, I don't agree with this. I think the histories of Soren, Nora, and King are so twisted and fascinating, and the nuances of where they are at in this book don't give them justice. You need to read from the beginning to really even begin to understand these characters.

King seems to have lost some of his "edge," the scenes with him are mostly domestic bliss and anxiety over the impending birth of his second child.

Cyrus is a new character introduced in the series. He was an overall good guy, preparing to get married. I enjoyed the easy banter between him and Nora, and it was nice seeing Nora being able to have a friend that she didn't ultimately end up sleeping with. Nora is always a "fun" character. I love that she's unfiltered.

Soren has returned and he's on his forced leave from the Jesuits. He has a lot of soul-searching to do to decide if he's going to return.

This book mixes theology, sex, consent, non-consent, the Catholic Church, and lots of kink. Not for the faint of heart of those easily offended.

I received this book from NetGalley, but the thoughts and opinions are my own.

I did not realize that this book was #9 in a series and have been advised not to read it without reading books 1 to 8. Since this isn't going to happen any time soon, I don't have much to say but I'm sure it's a great book. NetGalley should be better about marking things as part of a series to avoid this.

This is still one of the best (if not the best) dark erotic romance series out there!! I’m so happy that Reisz is still writing books in this series.

I enjoyed the mystery throughout, but what will always make these books for me is the characters, and they’re all just as iconic as ever. I also loved seeing some new characters and look forward to reading more about them in future books (hopefully there will be more books?!)

Ahhh Tiffany Reisz is a talent like no other. I absolutely love getting pulled back into the world of Nora Sutherlin. This time around it had some new characters and definitely had some different twists but just like always, it was fabulous!

This book is a great place for people to hop in who haven't read the series before. You can seamlessly join in the fun and feel like you haven't missed anything. That said, I strongly recommend you go back and read the previous books. That will give you the full feel of how "we" got here and will only enrich your experience more...but don't wait to do that before reading this little gem. Definitely hop in and read it as soon as you can. You won't be sorry...

Thank you to NetGalley for this reader's copy in exchange for my honest review.

As a non-practicing Catholic this book sent shivers up & down my spine! It's harrowing mystery wrap around all the characters all contributed little bits and pieces to solve the crime of suicide or murder. For all that is holy, this story will grab you by the short hairs until you scream for mercy but the torment doesn't stop here. Freaking A! Thanks for allowing me to read and review

Oh! Wow!

This was my independent read, but I'll be binge reading it soon! I loved this book and the author's writing style. I'll be coming back for more!

Reisz’s latest Original Sinners novel is one hell of a why-done-it. Nora teams up with Cyrus, a PI who matches her quip for quip, to discover why a priest she’s never met called her old professional number right before he killed himself. And ooooh boy,
does it ever get intense.

Because in true Reisz fashion, the case is layered, kinky, and personally relevant to the characters. Nora and Cyrus need to face up to heavy truths about themselves as they make sense of Father O’Leary’s actions. I read the last third in one sitting, desperate to discover I was wrong (I wasn’t) and to see how Nora, in particular, would handle it.

She didn’t let me down.

Neither did Reisz. The Original Sinners is one of my top series, and this fabulous entry also kicks off a new era for Nora et al. It should be a good jumping-on point for readers—but seriously, I encourage you to go back and read everything.

Be aware, though, that it’s religious erotica about a band of kinky bisexual folks. Chances are, you’ll find SOMETHING that offends you or sends you skipping on forward to the next scene. Proceed with caution if necessary.

Reisz has created a world that is nothing short of legendary in reading circles. Just when you think you’ve heard it all, here she comes ready and armed to blow you away. This book will pull you in, make you blush, and still leave you begging for more.

this cover is beautiful .! the story was not as well done as i would have liked being as their story has mostly been little novellas and it was a bit off for me. . I think i was confused on the story lines but love Nora always so if she is in a book I will check it out.. I just feel sooo lost in this book even though i loved it. .. it was missing just a touch of something like King and less suspense? It is hard to explain.

The Original Sinners series by Tiffany Reisz is one of my favorite series ever. I fell in love with this cast of characters and love each new installment in the series. I learned long ago to never take anything at face value in the series, and have to say that once again Ms. Reisz kept me guessing with The Priest.

I loved getting to spend time with Nora, Kingsley, Søren, Juliette, and Celeste of course and I love these characters so very much and catching up with each of them since the move to New Orleans. However much of the story takes place with Nora and a PI who is hired to figure out why a Catholic priest had called Nora right before he committed suicide. Cyrus is the PI who steps in with Nora's help to figure out exactly what happened. We learn a good bit about Cyrus and his fiancée Paulina as Nora and Cyrus work together. I really enjoyed the mystery portion of the story and also enjoyed having new people in the Original Sinners world. While I couldn't see Cyrus and Paulina joining the world full-time, it was fun to see Nora make friends with a man she didn't actually sleep with.

As the mystery of the priest unfolded, Ms. Reisz took her readers on a roller coaster ride. Nora had some big decisions to make and I honestly got answers to so many questions I had about Nora and
Søren and how they got together. Honestly it only made me love this story more to get those answers. I did feel left in limbo with Søren’s future with the Jesuits, and can't wait to find out his decision.

The Priest was a wonderful addition to the Original Sinners series. It gave us a different look at all of these characters and I can't wait to read the next installment in this series.

Rating: 5 Stars (A+)

Cyrus Tremont is a private investigator who had a very intense life in the past. He has reformed and is engaged to a sweet woman named Pauline. One day Cyrus receives a call to investigate a little more about the alleged suicide of a famous priest in New Orleans. This is not the kind of investigation he usually does, but he accepts at the request of his girlfriend.

Cyrus does not know that this case will lead him to take a look at a world full of mysteries, sins and very interesting characters like The Mistress Nora, The Viking Soren and others.

What can happen when a bad boy reformed meets a dominatrix to investigate the death of a priest with a secret? You'll see.

My impressions

According to the synopsis of The Priest, despite being part of the series The Original Sinners is the perfect book to approach Tiffany Reisz because it is partly standalone. Since it was a mystery, I decided to give it a try. Tiffany is the favorite author of my good friend Angy, who has always wanted me to read all the books in the series as the good fangirl that she is, but even though BDSM is a genre that I like, Reisz has always intimidated me.

The Priest is almost perfect, although I can't explain why it's not perfect. The story of Father Ike and the mysteries that surround him involve you from the first page, the sin committed by the priest is the one you're thinking about, however, Tiffany raises it from a very interesting perspective and accompanies it with a feminist struggle that I had not thought of until this moment.

The relationship between Nora, Søren and King is very interesting and kinky, which obviously made me interested in exploring the rest of the series.

I loved the friendship that develops between Nora and Cyrus, their sense of humour is great and they made me laugh several times. It's definitely a good book to approach Reisz's series.

My rate is 4.5 intense stars because The Priest is a book full of mysteries, sins, sensuality, brilliantly written by Tiffany Reisz.

As a long time fan of Tiffany Reisz I was excited to see how the story keeps unfolding and I wasn't disappointed in the complexities of the lives of the characters. Loved the New Orleans atmosphere, the mystery of the murder and how the relationships to each other the church have been impacted by internal and external decisions. It's was as intoxicating as a New Orleans summer.

I really enjoyed the beginning of this novel and how the story pulled me in pretty much from the first page. However, as the story moved along, my enjoyment started dwindling. It felt like the author was really struggling to create a plot and a mystery out of almost nothing. For about 80% of the book, the story was mostly about how Nora can make Cyrus even more uncomfortable in her BDSM world. While it was entertaining at first, it got boring really fast. As far as the rest of the characters, to be honest, half the time I was even forgetting they were in the room.

It was goo to be reunited with these characters. I've always liked this series so it was highly interesting. You get to missing the characters and finally being able to reconnect is a good feeling!

This was a great read and although I hadn't read any of Tiffany Reisz's previous work, many novels which preceded The Priest, it really didn't matter and certainly did not reduce my enjoyment of the book or make me feel that I was missing out it any way. This was a well written, well thought out thriller. I loved the bond that developed between Cyrus and Nora, I thought it was really natural and entirely believable. The tale kept me guessing right up until the end. Language was carefully selected. I thought it was unpredictable and very intriguing. Morals were explored, how we live our lives and how people have the choice to live their life in a manner of their choosing regardless of whether it appeals to others or not. I really enjoyed this read. I give it 4 good stars!!!

Tiffany Reisz is one of those authors that I trust blindfolded (ha!). As expected, The Priest, rises above its genre, and delivers an intricate plot, interesting characters and smart writing.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a sublime and compelling look into the world of kink and was written beautifully. This wasn’t necessarily a true romance as both main characters only had a relationship of friendship but it explored both their romantic relationships with their established partners amongst a plot of mystery.

A priest was found dead by his own hand and in his pocket was the card of a dominatrix. Our hero is a PI asked by a friend in the police force to look into the case as the church wants it swept under the rug. Our heroine is the dominatrix who is intrigued as to what the priest wanted from her and so she leads the hero into a journey of trying to understand kink and what happened to the priest.

I was as compelled by the mystery plot line as I was by both main characters and their relationships. The hero is a complete outsider into the world of kink which helps as a reader also an outsider looking in. I admire how open and free the heroine is with her sexuality- she totally owns every part of herself. Now this book is actually part of the series and set 20 years into the relationship between the heroine and her Dom, however at no point did I feel lost and if anything my interest is piqued to read more about her journey. One thing I will warn is that the heroine’s Dom is a sadist and there are several scenes that do push the envelope and are not necessarily for the faint of heart.
