This was a very interesting book to read, especially after the last two years.
People are willing to accept a lot, as long as they are comfortable. I would say that is the theme of this book. I found the writing a little chaotic and hasty at times, but a lot of the ideas were so refreshing that I did not really mind that. It is good to have a protagonist who is both female and adult with her 30 years, instead of a male and/or teenager. It was good to see romance take the back seat. I am very happy to say there is a lack of love triangle - the start of the plot killing off that possibility made sure of it. So much happened too, in a somewhat unconventional way. I loved it!

Is it a dystopian novel? Yes. No. I'm not even sure. It could be, but it very much depends on point of view. Total surveillance state? Check. So yes, it is. But do not expect it to be bleak. This book is more Brave New World than 1984 in the end.

this was a really great scifi novel, I enjoyed reading this book and thought the english translation was done really well.

This book was eerily touching on our current situation, and I found it very captivating. I think it was a very good concept and the writing was pretty good, there were a few dialogues that were bumpy (I do believe it's a translation though?) But all in all a solid dystopian/sci-fi read! I would definitely read more by this author.

This was OK, but not great. That's probably due to the author's inexperience and maybe something was lost in translation. The dialog seemed clumsy at times, but there are some good ideas and some mystery aspects. I hope the author writes more. This will appeal to scifi fans.

Thanks very much for the review copy!!

This could not be more timely. The concept of a world of social distancing is interestedly portrayed here. In this future people remain in their individual capsules, in order to avoid deadly viruses. They interact virtually with the world and other people. The main character is young and becomes inquisitive after a boyfriend dies. Her investigations lead to a rebel group and ultimately to her society’s secret truth. This will appeal to fans of Dystopias and to those conspiracy fans. It is a thought-provoking but quick and interesting read. Worth the time while in quarantine, which only enhances this future world’s fear of viruses. I could see this becoming a NetFlix series or film.

I am not quite sure about this one. I had high hopes, but the novel turned out to be a bit of a disappointment for me.

The novel is about a civilazation in which humans are living in pods, stuck in front of monitors. They use their avatar to go out, living their lives in a virtual world.

I can see what the author is trying to do, - but it didn't work for me, unfortunately. World-building is focussed on too many details/ideas, of which none is followed through.
Dialogues and characters are superficial, and seem odd and unnatural.

Novel appears to aim to be a mix between Black Mirror's 'Nosedive' (first episode third series), and Avatar.

Morever, I think the novel needs proofreading - (typo on page 6). Concept is great, but not for me.

2.5/3 stars.

Dark, deep, touching and captivating. This book won‘t leave you for quite a while and makes you think a lot about yourself! Good read!

The concept of capsule is nice which can be taken to big screen. The way of writing is easy and efficient to understand. Expecting more number of books with same gener from the author. If it continues in series or might in future is good to hear for dystopian lovers. The only spoiler I think so is death of Thomas in the novel is not enough legitimate.

The Capsule by Olga Loukianova A chilling look at what the future could hold in a computer system controlled Age of Perfection. Viruses, virtual reality, and social distancing are the norm. Murder brings an additional layer into the mix. Well written with intriguing descriptions one can easily imagine the restrictive and regulating atmosphere within The Net.

Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

Thank you Net Galley for the free ARC. Appropriate book to read for our current times. In the age of perfection, mankind is locked into individual capsules because of a virus and many humans have not known life any other way. But rebels wait in the wings.
