Book 3 of the Raven Crawford series, Queen of Corvids picks right up where book 2 ended. Raven owes Bane, Lord of War a favour, and she ceretainly can’t default or she loses her power to him. She has to find out who kidnapped her family’s pet goat, and then her sister; figure out her relationship with Cole, Lord of Shadows and prove to everyone she can be the Queen of Corvids...piece of cake. I loved this book just as much as the first two. Raven is a sassy, kick-ass woman, and I love the continual dialogue with her and Cole. I enjoyed the humour, as well as the action in the story! There was more character development for Raven, and I am hoping for another book, plus a book that will feature Rourke who is a favourite character!

This is the 3rd book in the series and I would recommend reading the previous books to put the characters in their place and setting .

Raven is now Queen of the Corvids , and still coming to terms with what that really means .
She has debts to pay , her job is in the balance , but one ray of light is her budding romance
with the Lord of Shadows - he is just what her grandmother warned about !!!
Her father's goat is missing , the Trolls are up to something , the Lord of War is putting pressure on her and she still has not gotten used to her Assassin bodyguard .
With the addition of Gods , Fae and even Humans with their own agenda Raven really will have to pull out all the stops to survive ,

This was a thoroughly enjoyable urban fantasy with snarky dialogue , comedic moments and lots of action .
My only "bad" comment is that being the Lord of Shadows I would have expected Cole to have more prominence - been an equal in their relationship .

I look forward to more books to come from the Author in this enjoyable series .

I was given an arc of this book by NetGalley and the Publisher in exchange for an honest review

This has to my favorite book of the series. I chuckled and laughed my way through this book the dialogue was so witty and well done. Loved the evolution of the romance between Raven and Cole, and loved the evolution of her magical talents. Cole is a man worth having. The perfect alpha male without all the dominance and possessiveness. Just love him. Of course Raven's family is fun. So much so that everyone wants in. I hope to see more books in this series.

I really enjoyed the continuation of Raven's story in this third book of the series. She is coming to terms with her powers as Queen of Corvids and her relationship with Lord of Shadows, Cole, deepens. I hope there are more books to come in this action packed series!

I probably should've checked whether or not this book was part of a series in which case I would have found out this was a third in a series and possibly the last book in the story... I do not recommend reading this without reading the first two books, I didn't understand anything of the world, relationships and characters 😅

That is not the only reason I DNFed it though, I was also very bored. 30% in and nothing of true interest had happened yet. I like my books with a bit more going on thank you very much 😂

Really enjoying this smart, action packed urban fantasy series. Read the first two books and this is the best so far. Highly recommend the entire series.

Having read this series since the first book, I can say that this is the best book yet! It has all the classic comedy, angst, and drama that I have come to expect from J.C. McKenzie, and then it piles on mystery and more interesting characters. Just when I thought I knew everyone, she introduces characters that make me want to see some more books following them. Maybe some novellas with backstories. I would absolutely be on board with that.

Raven is still getting used to her Queen status and life is hitting her hard with complications. She has debts to pay, her sucky job at the diner to manage, and her relationship with a certain seductive fae to explore. She doesn't have time for anything else, but of course, life throws new obstacles at Raven with glee. While some things seem to be changing for the better, such as her finances, other things seem to be becoming more complex. Her relationship with Cole is more real than ever, and decisions have to be made for their future. Daddy Dearest (a.k.a. Huginn Muninn) is popping up with more frequency, and she's being blackmailed by a gang leader to find someone who she *ahem* already disposed of. Things are getting sticky, but that's life for the Queen of Corvids.

I love how Raven continues to grow stronger and more confident in herself. Yes, she relies on Cole for things, but she also recognizes the importance in managing things on her own. She kicked serious booty in this book, and I particularly loved her frequent conflicts with Frey, who kept trying to kill her with a consistent lack of success. It was brilliant! Cole showed his softer side more and more in this book, and I enjoyed seeing him as more of a sensitive character. He opened up to Raven, and you could tell his love for her was strong. Their relationship really solidified in this book, as they worked through their problems and found themselves on equal footing. Many secondary characters colored the story, making it so enjoyable. I loved Rourke, as always, and I feel like Bane desperately needs a hug. Not that he would accept one.

I feel like this series could end now. There was no serious cliffhanger that I felt irritated about when I finished the book. However, I hope it's not the end! If it is for Raven and Cole, then I absolutely want a book for other characters. I'm still rooting for Rourke to have a happy ending. Pretty please.

As with the previous 2 books in this series...I really enjoyed this installment. My only complaint would be wishing for a bit more on the romance side with Cole and Raven...they have such chemistry but we only see really small snippets of it...though there is a ton going on in the rest of the story which made this near impossible to put down. Just the escape from all the Covid19 stuff I needed. Can't wait to see what McKenzie comes up with next!!

Being the third book of the series I wasn't expecting this! I loved how the battle of good and evil continued. I loved how the story built on the previous two. I love how it set the stage for the next book. I loved the strong sense of family throughout. I really loved the relationship between Raven and Cole is stronger than ever and shows them working as equals. Seriously when is the next book??

Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for allowing me to give an honest review of this book.

It was full of action, with amazing characters and will have you on the edge of your seat! If you love steamy, action packed, thrilling books then this book is for you. Raven is a bad ass main character who I loved and I enjoyed reading and understanding how she was trying to adjust to her position.

4/5 stars!

Well the third and possibly last book about Raven is a fast paced romp full of suspense and lots of humour. Raven has come a long way from just being a waitress and as she's now Queen of the Corvids she still has a lot to learn but trust me she's most definitely getting there. So what has she got to face this time ? Ok she still owes the Lord of War a favour , her father's goat is missing , she's coming to terms with her assassin bodyguard, greedy Trolls are definitely up to something and then there's the Lord of Shadows who is the type her Grandmother warned her about ! Add in God's, Fae and even humans with their own agendas and Raven really needs to up her game !
I did enjoy this and the only reason I'm not rating it higher is because as much as it's about Raven and her journey it felt as if Cole her love interest was very underused. As he's this deadly, powerful Dark Fae I had expected more from him so to this reader it felt uneven . I prefer both members of a couple to feel vibrant which certainly Raven does but sadly here Cole didn't particularly shine.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

I legitimately stalked Netgalley for this book for weeks in my excitement to have it. And if I'm honest, I was a little disappointed in it. Oh, it was still amazing. Hence the four stars. I mean, I LOVE Cole, I love Raven, and I love Rourke. It's just, there wasn't a lot of Cole and Raven together and so much of what was dealt with seemed petty and quickly taken care of. What should have been the main things and most interesting ones dealing with the Others and Gods, were sprinkled in here and there and over so fast it left me wondering what the point was in the first place. I wanted more of THAT and less looking for Pepe, less talking to a warlock, less setting up money for her family, and less of Raven doing "human stuff."

I needed more Cole and Raven together here. A lot more. But there was a lot of Rourke and I was constantly cracking up with him and Raven. The addition of her brother's best friend that Raven had a huge crush on in school was unnecessary. At least the crush part, made only worse by him telling her he had feelings for her all along. I mean, really?

Raven still has a lot on her plate here. But thanks to something Cole shows her, she now can take a couple things off of it. But she still has the barrier to make for Bane and she spends a good part of the book trying to figure out how to do it. She also gets summoned to a meeting between Gods, Kings, and Queens where any mistake could cost her dearly. Considering the build up to that, it was incredibly anti climatic. We meet Cole's father, who is not impressed with Raven in the least, and it was interesting to find out his feelings for Cole. Raven is getting better at fighting with her scythe, but she still does not feel okay with killing people. Raven still has a hard time with how strong her feelings for Cole are and how uneven the power is between them, but it was nice to see her accept things as they are and know that Cole would never lord himself over her. Which made Cole happier than ever when she agrees to something he has wanted with her from the start.

There wasn't any extra excitement at the end or epic conclusion. It just seemed to sort of end. But everyone seemed happy, so win?

I do believe that this is the last book in this series, which makes me sad. I would totally love more of these characters.

This was another enjoyable read in the Raven Crawford series. Raven is adjusting to her new position as the Queen of Corvids but who knew it came with those who possess some corvid powers that want to steal the power for themselves? As if Raven does not have enough on her plate. She has a crazy family, whom she loves to pieces and would do anything for. Her lover is the Lord of Shadows, Cole, and has a guardian protector in Rourke. However, Raven always finds trouble or trouble finds her. She needs to find a way to create a barrier that will protect the realms, but there are those who want to use Raven for their own agendas. While learning more about her abilities, Cole proposes something of interest to Raven, which makes her reflect on everything she has been told about the dark fae. Raven will need to become more than what she is to prove her place as the Queen of Corvids.
I received this novel from net galley and the publisher as an ARC. Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Queen of Corvids is the third in the Raven Crawford. It's about an ex-Waitress and Casual PI investigator who just so happens to be a half-fae shifter.

This novel wrapped up Raven's story with solving problems and also let her finally accept the position she was given. This book also featured Raven being a bad ass female character who might be slightly naive to the fae world still shows knowledge and strength during her story.

I really enjoyed the romance between Raven and Cole aswell. Even though some of the writing around their relationship was sometimes "cringy" I still enjoyed their scenes together.

Mixed feelings..... Raven still prioritized sex over doing things that needed to be done, which has been a complaint of mind throughout the series. But she did seem to grow a bit stronger which I was glad to see. However a lot of the growth just happened - no effort required. So I'm on the fence. The second half was entertaining but u skimmed most of the first half.
