The Magical Cats series of cozy mysteries is one of my very favorites. I love magical cats Owen and Hercules and the clowder of feral cats. I especially liked the Baking Show aspect…it included new interesting characters. I also enjoyed the “behind the scenes” of the Baking Show. Kathleen and her friends are always a treat. I’m pretty sure this one would work as a standalone book but, since I’ve read the series in order, I can’t guarantee it. If you’re looking for a fun read with likeable characters and amazing CATS this is the series/book for you.

Kathleen is a librarian in Mayville Heights, MN with 2 formerly feral cats, Owen and Hercules, who have special abilities. She is also helping as a researcher for a baking show (similar to the Great British Baking Show) where a contestant is eliminated each week.. The show hits a snag when an unpopular judge turns up dead, and Kathleen, of course, is asked to investigate. It seems like the judge, Kassie, was not well liked, so there are quite a few suspects, but with the help of her cats, Kathleen figures it all out. Can she get to the police in time before the murderer takes care of her, too? If you like cozy mysteries with cats and a touch of magic, try this fun read. Thanks to the publisher and to Netgalley for providing me with an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

A Case of Cat and Mouse has everything I love about a good cozy. I meant to read a few chapters before bed but I write this after finishing in the early hours of the morning, always a sign of a good book. The GBBO knock-off regional baking show was fun and Kathleen fit in perfectly as a local researcher. It’s also a nice set up to have a mix of local and out of town suspects. Kathleen asks around about the murder at Ruby’s request, because the main suspect is like a father to her.
There were a few minor threads (not related to the main mystery) left unresolved so perhaps we’ll see them in future books in the series. The developments with the cats were enjoyable. Hercules and Owen continue to charm and have a knack for finding clues.

Latest in the Magical Cats series of cozy mysteries, this is what one has come to expect from the series: smart and talented cats, a sassy small-town librarian sleuth, and all sorts of shenanigans. A smart, fun, and remarkably peaceful read. No surprises but also no disappointments. I did figure out the killer slightly before the main character--which is highly unusual for me--but it didn't detract from the fun.

Recommended.

I love this series. Such a cute idea of having magical cats help solve mysteries with their human. Kathleen is the local librarian and she is off on another mystery to solve. This one did not disappoint. I do suggest you read them in order because the characters develop along the stories.

Another excellent addition to the Magical Cats Mystery series. The town of Mayville Hieghts is still full of interesting characters and relationships. My only concern is the death rate. My only true complaint is that there are beginning to be too many characters. So many that I couldn't keep some straight. All in all, I'll continue to seek out the rest of the series and recommend it to others.

I’ve read every book in this series, and enjoyed each one. Great characters, wonderful setting in a Carnegie library, and good story lines. Librarian Kathleen Paulson is helping with a tv show that’s filming in town when one of the judges for the contest is found dead. Becoming involved and solving murders is something Kathleen can’t resist and she’s always helped by her two magical cats Owen and Hercules.
