I loved everything about this book. It was gorgeous, delightful, and diverse. I loved the global inclusion and will purchase this for our home library. It incorporates nature and a wider world view in such a special way.

What a lovely book! The mixed-media illustrations are just so dreamy, soft, bright, and lush, showing children around the world taking time to enjoy different aspects of nature. "Taking time to" is the phrase that starts each spread, followed by a suggestion of something to notice in the natural world- birds singing, a cat purring, blossoms drifting down from a tree- an invitation to practice mindfulness that is easy to understand for any age.

Taking Time by Jo Loring-Fisher is beautifully illustrated. The different images capture the lines of the poem well. Each scene shows a different landscape and a diverse cast of people. The poem shares the beauty in doing things slowly, in taking the time to look at the little things in life that can be passed by quickly. It encourages children to take their own time and to take time for themselves.

This is a lovely picture book with sparse, rhyming text about the joy of taking time to notice the blessings of nature around us. The illustrations are beautiful and depict children experiencing wildlife and nature around the world. The rhyming text is lyrical and makes it perfect for bedtime or read-alouds. It's a beautiful book that will encourage mindfulness and an appreciation for nature in young children in a sweet way.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.

This beautiful book encourages children to take the time to enjoy the natural world around them. The poetry has an excellent rhythm, and the illustrations are soft, colorful, and creative, visualizing global children's encounters with nature and animals. This is a great resource for teaching little ones about the world and multicultural experiences, and I enjoyed it very much as an adult reader as well.

I particularly appreciate the fact that it is written to encourage "mindfulness" without using trendy terminology for it that will become quickly dated. This book has broad appeal and can be enjoyed for years to come.

This book has been out for a month, and it’s the perfect summer read for your kiddos.
Not only is it beneficial to little ones (and the art is fab), but it’s got some good reminders for adults in there, too. The themes of mindfulness and being “in” the moment/appreciating and taking in the surroundings of this moment are timely.

I think many people are being forced to re-evaluate their realities during our current situation. Whether that is a good or a bad thing, I dunno, but I love basking in the softness of my cat’s fur in the middle of the day and brewing an extra cup of slow-steeped tea midmorning. I’ll have to go back to life soon, but I’m taking some important tools with me for coping with such a busy life.

Use this book as an opportunity to equip your own favorite kid with some excellent mental tools.
Bonus? This ones takes us all around the world to visit moments with many different children. I really appreciated the culture included in these pages.

Glorious rich art and a calming easy rhyme over the span of around 15 pages all work in concert to teach meditative awareness -- noticing the small quiet things and events around us -- in a simple memorable way. Very nicely done,

it is all "taking time (to listen or imagine or notice and so on). This is a great life skill to learn at a very young age, highly recommended. The trick -- to actually gift the child this immense skill as a permanent part of their being -- is to actually practice this after the reading of it, perhaps once a week (or more often), with little ones. If a parent or caregiver does this, they will be teaching a vast meditative skill that has been taught as a path to always being able to find calm centeredness, and to beyond that, if done deeply, to even reach enlightenment.

Beautifully done. 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and to Lantana Publishing for an ARC for review. Honest opinion given.

This book follows children all over the world taking time to admire the present. What is currently bringing them joy. It’s short, but can be a topic for much discussion about cultures and locations.

This is a sweet, simple book about mindfulness and taking time to notice the everyday things that are all around us.

The poem that serves as the text is fine. It flows nicely, for the most part. I think the strength of this book is the illustrations, though. They're colourful and diverse, showing children from a variety of backgrounds all over the world. Though the pictures are all very different, there's a universality to the text that ties everything (and everyone) together.

Taking Time is a lovely little read. It might make a nice bedtime book with its soothing rhythm.

'Taking Time' is a beautifully illustrated picture book that takes you around the world in 15 pages. It would make a nice inclusion to any world studies activities. The prose is a nice poem that would be easy to read aloud. Each two-page spread travels to a moment in time in a far off place. The message of slowing down to appreciate the small things is perfect for our fast-paced world.

This book got raving reviews right across the board. Each page begins with the phrase 'taking time to' and is followed by poetic text and soft gentle illustrations. They are subtle reminders to stop, observe and appreciate the beauty and awe that the world offers if we only take time to engage in that invitation.

Children from around the world take heed as they pause and gather up cherry blossoms dancing free, snuggle in a dog's soft velvet fur, and feel the beat of a cat's rhythmic purr, just to name a few.

The front endpapers show a map of the world where each child originates and the back endpapers provide an opportunity for interaction as children can match details from the illustrations with each child's home.

The audience is ageless. Both young and old will benefit as they are encouraged to 'stop and smell the roses' in their journey through life.

The mixed-media illustrations are a visual celebration of cultures, scenery and animals. The last page sums it up perfectly: "Taking time to cherish you...and also cherish me." I highly, highly recommend this book.

Taking Time is a beautifully illustrated children's book based on a poem. Showing children from all over the globe, this book introduces children to the idea of slowing down and taking the time to notice and appreciate things in the moment.

The book imparts a sense of calm and happiness and who doesn't need more of that?

My thanks to NetGalley and Lantana Publishing for allowing me to read a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review. All opinions expressed here are my own.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I’m not sure if the formatting was correct for me.

The concept is lovely( take time to be present in little good things in life). It would be a nice classroom prompt. , The art wasn’t my favorite. I would’ve split up the writing differently but again that might be a formatting thing.

This is a beautiful book that I would be excited to use as an educator. Not only is the writing superb, but it follows a repetitive structure that kids could adapt to make their own. I would use this for a writing lesson for sure. The story itself is great and highlights children from all over the world.

A short children's poem, I most enjoyed the lovely illustrations. Their calmness most matches the meditative tone of the poem.
