If you're a fan of Korean dramas, you'll love "Vicious Spirits" by Kat Cho. This novel, set in Seoul, South Korea, is a fantastic blend of fantasy, romance, and thriller. Kat Cho's writing has gotten better with each book, and it's apparent in this sequel to "Wicked Fox."

In this book, we follow Miyoung and Jihoon as they navigate their relationship and face new threats from the spirit world. As a nine-tailed fox, Miyoung has unique abilities, but she also has enemies who want to take advantage of her powers. With Jihoon's help, Miyoung must fight against these vicious spirits to protect herself and the people she loves.

The plot is intricate and filled with twists and turns that will keep you engaged from beginning to end. The character development is also noteworthy, with Cho exploring the complex emotions and relationships between the characters.

As a sequel to "Wicked Fox," "Vicious Spirits" expands on the world and characters that were introduced in the first book. It's great to see the growth and development of Miyoung and Jihoon's relationship, and the addition of new characters and threats adds to the overall excitement of the story.

Kat Cho has created a world that is easy to get lost in and characters that you'll root for until the very end. If you enjoyed "Wicked Fox," you'll love "Vicious Spirits." And even if you haven't read the first book, this novel can still stand alone as a great read for fans of Korean dramas and YA fantasy. I also recently read her other book "Once Upon a Kprom" for Subtle Asian Book Club and enjoyed it as well!

I loved Wicked fox and couldn't put it down, so I just knew I needed this one! Story picks up where we left wicked ended, and it's just as fast pace as the first

I really enjoyed book one but unfortunately I did not care much for this one. I just found it to be super unnecessary since the first book ended with pretty much everything all wrapped up that there wasn't really a need for a sequel.

That being said, the romance and the banter between Juno and Somin were hilarious and adorable. It was the only thing that kept me reading and ultimately why I still gave the book 3*.

(I read this a while ago and totally forgot to leave feedback through netgalley oops!)

I don't think I enjoyed this one quite as much as the first book but it was still another fantastic book from Kat Cho and I'm definitely excited to pick up anything else she puts out in the future. I'm sad this was only a duology because I would love to read more about this world and these characters but I also think the duology format worked well for this series. My favorite aspects are still the Korean mythology and K-drama-esque plotlines, but I think what I loved the most ended up actually being the characters and the relationships they formed with each other!

I didn’t love this as much as Wicked Fox but i still really enjoyed this! I love the korean mythology and the storyline and *ugh* the romance!!!! I’m so sad it’s only a duology, I would love a whole 7 book series!

I didn't think this book could be as enjoyable as the first book, but Kat Cho has done it again. I loved that Junu and Somin's relationship didn't feel like a carbon copy of Miyoung and Jihoon, this definitely showed Cho's range as an author through her ability to fully develop characters that read differently. It was such a pleasure to see the two protagonists from the first story in this one as well. The K Drama-esque aspect of this one definitely hit me in the feels as well. This story goes beyond the fantastical elements and is at its core a story about family and love that I have no choice but to adore.

I loved this one just as much as I loved Wicked Fox! These characters are so addictive and I get so attached to them. I care about them so much and I am always rooting for them. I love how these books are inspired by kdramas, you can really see the connections and I absolutely love it. I think the kdrama inspiration makes the story more fun to read. Kat Cho’s writing is also so addictive, I can never put down her books because they are just so quick and fun to read. I recently moved back from Korea and this book just reminded me of my home there so much. It was very nostalgic to me and I appreciated it so much.

Vicious Spirits is the adventure-packed companion novel to Wicked Fox. A mix of YA contemporary, mythology, and fantasy, the story picks up a few weeks after book one and shows how the characters are coping with the consequences of their actions. Where Wicked Fox is all about Miyoung and Jihoon, Vicious Spirits focuses more on Somin and Junu, diving into his backstory and the legend behind it. There’s a frenemies to lovers romance, which I love! Set in present-day Seoul, the story blends folklore with magic and teenage drama. Cho excels at writing wonderfully believable teen characters (even when one of them is immortal), and the dialogue is snarky, sassy, and flows altogether naturally. A must-read for anyone who’s a fan of or interested in Korean folklore, but more generally just a really great YA read.

I liked the first book more, but I still overall enjoyed this sequel. Some scenes felt like they were dragged out a bit too much. I did like the incorporation of Korean mythology into the story since I wasn't familiar with, so it was cool to learn a bit about it.

This was a very anticipated read for me but covid unfortunately got in the way of me reading it. I was hoping for more. The Korean mythology is wonderful and I did enjoy the first book but the execution of the book was all over the place. I did like that our side characters Somin and Junu were the main characters - they were so enjoyable!

Another fantastic novel by a WOC. Honestly I wish this series was made into live action or even anime on Netflix and Hulu. The descriptions of scenery and characters were well written. This author is a auto buy for me.

I was a big fan of Wicked Fox, so I was super excited to pick this up, but I was then terribly disappointed that it featured different main characters, and I walked away from it for a long time. But now that I've finished it, I'm really glad I did and really enjoyed it! I really like the way Kat Cho writes and I love experiencing Korea through her books. I probably would've finished it sooner if I had paid attention or read a summary of the book instead of just getting excited that it was a Wicked Fox sequel!

As a big fan of the Wicked Fox, I was really hoping to see more of Miyoung and Jihoon, But the way Kat Cho served us Somin and Junu is - chef's kiss. I was instantly involved in their banter and just love how adorably they got on each other's nerves.

This book touches on grief and loss of loved ones. I liked those events and subsequent grieving was dealt with. There was an undercurrent of needing to move on, but also taking your time with it.

I liked how this book expanded upon the previously set upon worldbuilding, kept the reader on their toes, gave us beloved characters we already knew and introduced us to new ones.

Interesting premise. Likable/hated characters. Cool plot. I would recommend this story to others. Some spots I found that didn't hold my attention, but overall, I still liked it.

Vicious Spirits
By Kat Cho

An enemies to love trope I completely enjoyed between Somin and Junu, that I loved reading about. I truly enjoyed Wicked Fox and this was just as enjoyable read for me as a follow up novel with a fantastic ending. This duology was so fun to read with great characters, fun adventures and a trope that I was highly entertained by. I highly recommend this read for those that enjoy a supernatural urban story that is both heartbreaking and captivating. I really enjoyed this read.

There are no words to express how hype I was for this sequel and how well it turned out!

AHHH! This is probably one of my most anticipated sequels of 2020 yet I'm just now finishing it. Story of my life! What can I say about this book!? I adore the entire plot of this series - I am so fascinated with mythology and prior to book 1, Wicked Fox I knew very little about Korean Mythology. I loved that the author really took the time to make sure reader understood and could play themselves in the story set in Seoul.

Emily Woo Zeller gives another fantastic audio production of Kat Cho's book. In Vicious Spirits we primarily follow two new perspectives-Somin and Junu. Truthfully, I enjoyed their primary addition much more than I enjoyed Miyoung and Jihoon.

But in this installment, the veil between the living and dead is thinning out and if the gang can't figure it out and stop it, Miyoung will be taken to her death to stop it cause of course it leads back to her. There is still some elements of the story that just irritated the heck out of me, but all in all, it was an enjoyable read and I do recommend for teen readers.

I really enjoyed Vicious Spirits! Perfect follow up to Wicked Fox! I loved that it was more of a companion novels than a sequel, and the romance was perfect.

I love Kat Cho's novel, she weaves in Korean Folklore and modern Korean culture in such an effortless way. Those that are fans of K-dramas such as Goblin will love this companion novel for Wicked Fox! Or even if you are just interested in the Korean Culture this will be an amazing book for you to read.
