Unfortunately I DNF this book, I didn't hate it, but I wasn't pulled in enough to want to finish it. At times the characters were unlikable and this often makes me lose interest. Not a bad book, just not for me!
Thank you Netgalley and the author for allowing me to read and review this book.

Please note that this book is not for me - I have read the book, However I had to DNF and because i do not like to give negative reviews I will not review this book fully - there is no specific reason for not liking this book. I found it a struggle to read and did not enjoy trying to force myself to read this book.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for the opportunity to read this book

This book was hard for me because I don't feel that the description fit the actual book.
I am not sure if I like it or not, I am still on the fence.
Jess and Laura are struggling with the loss of their mom. As sisters there is always a rivalry and these two are no different. Laura is having a hard time with her grief. Not that she's inconsolable, infact just the opposite. She is having a hard time grieving.
This book shows you that everyone grieves differently. This book deals with some heavy life stuff. Death of a parent is always hard, but then you add the comparison between siblings. This book was a lot more than I expected. It is not one that is for everyone and I am not sure that I would recommend to my friends.

Thank you though to NetGalley and the publishers for a chance to experience this book.

Two sisters with very different viewpoints in life. Jess is organized to a fault and Laura embraces her wild-child ways...or does she? A good read that deals with the dynamics between siblings, parents and their respective families. A great read but wished there was an epilogue!!

Oh was this book Frustrating. With a capital F.
The amount of times I read that Laura, the protagonist, was holding back tears or trying to hold back tears, I wanted to scream. I think it was on every second page, It was very frustrating and annoying. I just rolled my eyes a lot. Everything was always about her & her feelings and you could just see how she was twisting everything against her.
Thankfully, it got better towards the end and so did she.
That was a relief.

This book covers many hard topics but there were bits of humour so it didn’t make it too dark. This is a large book and I feel like it could have been better if it had half the amount of chapters in it. I found myself going in and out of being able to stay interested in the book. The characters were great and the book had a great concept but it lost me too many times.

DNF 71%
The constant negativity and blaming (herself, familiy, others) was for me too much. Laura seemed to focus on someone else around 60-65% in the book, but still. She was constantly playing things over and over, the negativity tasted bad in my mouth. I Understand that people grief in a different way and people are different. But it was too much for me. I had a hard time with Laura, wish maybe we could have seen Jess`s side more too maybe it would have eased up a bit of the constant negativity and she was so frustrated and angry with her sister, her familiy, her son, her husband... herself.. Not much positivity was shown and i didn`t feel like she had much character growth until she started to focus on Jess in her hard time, but then i was out...

I enjoyed this book, different to my usual choice but a nice and easy read.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for an honest and unbiased opinion.

This book was an alright read for me. It tells the story of two sisters, who have always been against each other, dealing with the passing of their mother. I was really able to sympathize with both sisters, although at times I felt it difficult to read about Laura without being frustrated. I did feel, however, that this book was much longer than it needed to be, and could have been told without much of the extras that were there.

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

This was an entertaining story (even though it centered around a funeral) about 2 sisters at odds with each other. Can you say sibling rivalry? If you have siblings you will probably be able to relate. If you have family drama, you will definitely be able to relate. I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Overall, this was a good read and I enjoyed reading about the relationship of laura and jess, however, it felt longer than it needed to be.

Would I still recommend it, yes. I still think it is worth checking out because of the fresh take on sisterhood.

3 stars.

I really enjoyed this book! I liked how this book tells the story of family life of Laura. Laura and jess losses their mother and it explains how Laura is having trouble grieving for her mother. I like that it shows not everyone grieves the same and it was different. Laura is struggling with life which I also like in the story. This story does not portray her life as perfect and the struggles which many people face. I felt that mine and Laura's lives are similar because I struggle with getting things done which some people can not understand. I like that she is a hard worker that overcomes her struggles. I also liked how it tells the story of Laura and her sister Jess' relationship. Laura seemed to always compare her life with her sister's life. Their relationship has its difficulties but it was strengthened throughout the story. Loved the storyline and the characters and the comical side of the story. I would recommend this book to fiction and comedy book lovers.

Laura and Jessica could not be more different as sisters. Jessica is a strong A-type personality who is always in control of her life. She has the perfect job, the perfect kids, the perfect husband, and the perfect home. Laura is her polar opposite who procrastinates on everything, always intends to clean the house, and does more 'thinking about life and everything than actually doing it. When the sisters' mother dies of cancer, the two are forced together to deal with their mother's estate and effects. Many truths and frustrations finally come out, and the sisters' relationship finally mends and becomes stronger.

The story its told from Laura's perspective, and it is very easy to be sympathetic with her as she wants so hard to better herself, but does not have the support or knowledge of how to begin. We see Laura's rocky relationship with her mother, the constant (negative) comparisons to her sister, and the unresolved grief from her father's death 25 years prior. After her mother's death, Laura's life continues to fall apart: her relationship with her partner, her child's troubles at school, and her job. It took this, though, for Laura to "bottom out" and find the way to move forward.

I would have liked to have seen this story told by both Laura and Jessica's perspectives instead of using Laura as the sole narrator. The flashbacks on Laura's part could have been told by Jessica as she struggles to find a way to help Laura. All in all, though, decent story of family, support systems, and moving yourself forward.

Not my favorite. I think comparing it to Fleabag in the synopsis sets unrealistic expectations too. This book felt very repetitious and not too much actually happened by the end of it. I also didn’t really like the main character.

Growing up with a sister myself, I love books about family relationships as I think we are all so different and have our own little quirks that make every family a totally different microclimate. I loved this read, it was moving and full of humour, a perfect distraction from the world for a while!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me read an advance digital copy of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

This was a fairly enjoyable read about the dynamics of two sisters. I found it to be quite a busy read with lots going on but did not expect the twist.
Many thanks to both the author & net galley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to the publisher for the opportunity to read a free advance copy of this book. Unfortunately I hadn't found time during the year to read this book, and so I will be picking up a paid copy in 2021 to support the author instead as an apology.

This books follows two sisters, whom have always had a somewhat complicated relationship. Laura and Jess have never been on the best of terms, due in part to their mother loving one of them way more than the other.
Throughout this novel, we are following Laura and Jess as adults once their mother passes away and has basically forced the two to come together again.

I tried multiple times to get through this book. I have picked it up and put it back down more times than I can count. I was not a huge fan of the whole "whoa is me, my sister always has to be better than me" plot point. Which, is the main plot point of this whole book.

I finally decided to DNF this book at 48% because I didn't think pushing my way further through it would've changed my overall opinion about the story. I can see why other people might enjoy it, for sure. Unfortunately, it was just not my cup of tea.

I enjoyed reading about the sisterhood between Jess and Laura while they dealt with the pain of losing their mother to cancer. Both sisters were very different from one another, with one who had her life sorted and to the other who was still figuring stuff out.

The book dealt with different emotions that might face while mourning a loved one and how a constant sibling rivalry becomes very confusing when the very person who put them against one another is no longer there to ignite the fire.
