This is an absolutely hilarious book about what happens when a cat has to adapt to his situation and then readapt again.

Princess Fuzzypants here:  As any self respecting dog or cat knows the cone of shame is not a very nice thing.  It is very annoying when our humans put one of those infernal contraptions around our necks.  Yes.  I know the argument.  It is there for your own good.  It is there to protect something or another.  Forget it.  It is a pain in the... neck.

But cone cat discovers it does have it uses and it can, on occasion, be an ally rather than a nemesis.  This sweet book tells the story of the trials and the victories that are possible with a cone around your neck.

A super fun, cute book by Sarah Howden.  Perfect for story time at home in the the library and cat lovers everywhere!

When Jeremy wakes up at the vet’s office one day, he is wearing a cone. He realizes that he is no longer Jeremy. Now he will be known as Cone Cat. He can’t do the things he’s used to doing, like hunt bugs around the house, scratch the furniture, or eat from his dish. He feels strange in the cone, until he realizes he can do things differently with the cone. He can tip a bowl into the cone to eat inside it. He can scoop the bugs into his cone so that he doesn’t have to hunt them. Life is different with the cone, but he figures out a way to adapt to it.

This is such a cute picture book! Anyone who has a dog or cat who has had surgery or an injury, has probably had to use the cone, or as we call it in my house “the cone of shame.” It’s sad to see how depressed the animals get while wearing the cone, but it is for their own good so they can heal.

Jeremy the cat learns to adapt to his new life wearing the cone. He had to look on the bright side and figure out how to live his normal life. For example, he couldn’t drink from the cereal bowl on the table, but he could tip it into his cone and drink it like that. Jeremy didn’t know that the cone wouldn’t last forever, so once he got used to it, his owner was able to take it off and he could return to his old life as Jeremy.

I loved this adorable cat picture book!

This book was hilarious and so cute! My kids are going to LOVE IT.

Cute and funny! Jeremy the cat wakes up at the vet's office one day with a cone (the reason is never explained). He resigns himself to being Cone Cat now, clumsy, smelly, and unable to do all his favorite things. Then he discovers the cone can be useful, and being Cone Cat isn't so bad! One of his humans removes his cone one day, and while he's glad to be back to normal, he's a bit sad that the glory days of Cone Cat are done......or are they?
The ennui in Jeremy's telling of his story is perfect, and the artwork expresses cat-ness very well- anyone who's ever been owned by a cat will be able to relate, but the story will still be amusing to those who haven't had that pleasure. Definitely recommended!

Upon discovering the strange new contraption around his head, Jeremy the Cat is not happy. The horror… The audacity… Jeremy the Cat has donned the cone of shame! 

After a momentary crisis, Jeremy the Cat has accepted his role as… Cone Cat. However, upon acceptance of this new role, Cone Cat discovers the hidden perks of his new identity and uses it to his full advantage.

The illustrations are cute and vibrant. I love how Jeremy’s expressions are conveyed so well! The use of bright colours captures the light-hearted tone of the story well whilst keeping the readers engaged.

Overall, Cone Cat is an adorable and fun read that presents readers that one can always endeavour to make the best of poor circumstances and difficult situations. Owners and cat lovers may relate to Jeremy's behaviour and antics and I enjoyed reading this so much. Plus, the ending made me laugh out loud. I highly recommend this read!

The kids loved learning about Cone Cat and his adventures with the cone. It was an adorable story that made you see the brightness in things. Absolutely recommend. Loved the storyline!

While I like the idea of a cat dealing with a cone (who doesn’t find pets battling the cone of shame cute?)

But this was just okay. I get the idea behind it, something annoying at first was actually a small blessing etc. It just felt like something was missing, and did we really need a cat cleaning it’s butt and talking about it’s sweet scent?

What a sweet story about a cat making the most out of a bad situation! This is a very cute and whimsical tale about a cat named Jeremy who is saddened to wake up at the vet and find he is wearing a cone. At first this seems like a catastrophe but soon as he ventures around his surroundings at home he sees how the cone can actually be used to his advantage. I believe that this is an important lesson for children and the adults that care for them, a reminder that what at first may seem like a lost cause could actually turn out to be a very good thing. In the end, Jermey has the cone taken off and he is allowed to return back to his normal shenanigans, but he has come to appreciate the cone and the ways in which it served him for that time. Cone Cat is a hilarious children's book about a cat who wakes up suddenly wearing the dreaded cone. He struggles being his normal self with this new contraption, but soon finds out having the cone isn't so bad after all. He just has to learn to do things a little differently.  Beautiful illustrations with comically drawn scenes. Overall and adorable storybook about new limitations and powering through them.

Jeremy wakes up at the vet with a cone around his head.   He finds it makes him clumsy. When he gets home he finds he can’t do his usual things.   How will he deal with this?  He finds that he can do other thing that he could not do before.  It makes him happy.

In this sweet book of a cat adjusting to living with a cone around his head,  the author has written a story of learning adapting and making the best of it.  The author has used humor along with great illustrations of a cat.  The illustrator did a great job with the illustrations.  I enjoyed what the cat found out that he could do besides the illustrations.   A charming book to read for cat loving families.

Jeremy is a cat the really enjoys his freedom. Then, one day, he wakes up after a visit to the vet with a cone covering his head and hampering his freedom of movement, and his super cat senses. Suddenly, Jeremy is plain old clumsy, bumping to things, and no longer able to hunt or even clean himself - PU! But then, Jeremy discovers that he can make the cone work for him. For instance, he can use it to tip a bowl of cereal into the cone, then into his mouth and even saving some cereal for later. Why it even works to get him some ice cream.  But then, one morning, the cone comes off. And Jeremy regains his old freedom of movement - a happy cat, but wondering would freedom ever compare to his glory days with the cone? The story ends on a bit of an ironic note. The moral of Jeremy's cone tale - when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Or perhaps necessity is the mother of invention. OK, so maybe Jeremy isn't the best example for kids to follow, but that's just the point - Jeremy provides a conduit through which behavior conversations can be opened as well as ways to make the best of a bad situation. Kids will also like the whimsical colorful pastel illustrations, especially Jeremy's melodramatic facial expressions.

Cone Cat just upon looking at the cover, which is illustrated by Carmen Mok, is a book that makes me immediately interested and know that there will be some humor in the book.  Most pet owners, especially those of dogs and cats have heard of or are familiar with the “cone of shame” as many refer to it. It is the cone that veterinarians put on them to keep them from bothering injuries or parts of their body that need to heal in some way. Unfortunately, when many pets wear this “cone of shame,” they do not find it the most pleasant experience, therefore it is not always the most pleasant experience for pet owners. 
	Written by Sarah Howden, Cone Cat is a delightful book about Jeremy, a cat who wakes up one day at the vets and is wearing “THE CONE.” This discovery does not leave Jeremy happy as he is typically a nimble, quick, and clean cat who is worried about how he will now go about his daily routine with this awful cone on his neck. 
	Luckily, Jeremy is not upset for too long as he discovers that “the cone” can be used to his advantage by helping him get milk from a cereal bowl, capture a spider, cuddle in couch stuffing, hearing for his human child in advance and more. The best part however is when he discovers it can be used as a bowl for ice cream that he is able to sneak at Ava’s party. 
	After finally discovering all the greatness of the cone, Jeremy wakes up one day to find it gone. Thankfully, he is happy to be back to his old self. He begins to do all his old things to his happiness until…
	I will let you read to find out the rest. This book is full of cute illustrations and the story is super cute and funny. My cat loving five-year-old adored this book and asked for it to be read to her multiple nights in a row. Personally, I love how the book shows that you can overcome obstacles and adversity when one is not fully able bodied. We are not all the same, and sometimes we must find different ways of doing things. This is shown well in Cone Cat. 
	Because this book is so cute and we all adored it so much here, I give it five stars because this is a book we would purchase for our kids and gift to others as well.

This is such a cute little story about a cat who learns to make the best of his time with a cone on his head, learning all the new things the cone allows him to do--including stealing ice cream! By the time the cone comes off, he is sad to see it go, but also happy to get back to his normal self. It's a fun little story and well-illustrated. I tried reading to my cat, but I think he was too inspired by all of Jeremy's adventures to stay engaged!

A cute story, though a little unrealistic — my cat wore a cone for approximately 30 minutes before laying on the ground and giving up. That being said, it was interesting to see all the perks the cone supplied for Jeremy.

My Thoughts
If you have ever had a cat that had to wear a cone, this book is for you! Here are my pros and cons for Cone Cat:

Pros
1.  Cute illustrations by Carmen Mok. The frustrated cat is quite funny!
2.  This book is a good lesson to help young readers understand that just because they may be experiencing something different or challenging, it doesn’t mean there aren’t silver linings! Adapting to change is a plus, but finding positive attributes in the changes we experience can be transformative.
3.  It is fun to watch the cat discover the fun things about wearing the cone!
4.  This book is targeted to 3 to 7 year olds. The story is age appropriate and skill/reading level appropriate.

Cons
None.

Summary
It is always a good lesson to try to make the best of a seemingly bad situation. When we look for good, we can often find it!  This book teaches that lesson with an adorable, sour-faced kitty who learns that not everything challenging or different is necessarily bad.

You have at least two really great options with Cone Cat. One, it's just a cute story about a cat stuck wearing a cone and the adventures he has with it. Alternatively, it can be a story about making lemonade of lemons; making the most of a situation that at first appears to be a negative and finding the positive to make that bad stuff work for you. However you choose to read it, the illustrations are charming and the story is delightfully written.

And Jeremy is a perfectly, wonderfully stupid name for a cat. (This is 100% a compliment to both the cat and the author.)

As soon as I saw the cover, I knew that my students would love this book.  What is not to love about a cat that feels like a superhero while wearing a cone and misses his special abilities when the cone is removed?  The story provides a great metaphor for feeling proud of our unique qualities and would work well for about contradictions too.  Thank you, Sarah Howden, for a delightful cat tale!

Jeremy is a cat that likes to do the things cats like to do. But one day, he wakes up with a cone around his neck and all of a sudden he is not able to do his favorite things anymore! Eventually though he realizes that even the most annoying things can become your friend.

I knew I had to request this title as soon as I saw it. My husband LOVES cats so I figured this would be an instant favorite for him. My favorite thing about this book are the illustrations. Carmen Mok did a great job at making them simplistic yet infused with lots of fun and adorableness. You can easily see what Jeremy is feeling and thinking in these illustrations. There may not be a lot of words on each page, but each page tells a tiny story on its own that is easily imagined in real life and should make any tiny human smile. All together, Jeremy shows us that you can find fun in any situation even if you thought it was impossible.
