This is a good Western and reads like a real old fashioned story.
The characters are engaging and the story line has plenty of action.
If you enjoy a Western this will be for you.

Mike Stone has gone to Texas to get away from his emerging gunfighter status. He killed a crook who meant to kill him but his quickness was noted and talked about. He's going to find a cattle drive in Texas and hide from his reputation...

BooksGoSocial and Net Galley let me read this book for review (thank you). It has already been published and you can get a copy now.

Mike suddenly finds himself the owner of a piece of land. He's thinking of running a few head of cattle. This cattle drive allowed him to add some of his own cows to it so he will have funds. But his life is going to get more complicated. The land he inherited is attractive to bank robbers, too. It's a nice place to hide.

In town, an attractive lady grabs his arm and asks him to take her to the train station. She has a man following her and wants to discourage him. She tells Mike her name, thanks him, and boards the train. Only later does he find out from the lawyer she owns the property next to him.

The outlaws are ready to kill them both to get the land. But these folks aren't greenhorns...

This was a good western with a bit of romance. I enjoyed this read.

I love westerns. Started reading them when I was younger when my uncles shared them with me. This title/author seem to be printed backwards but it did not affect the quality of the book. A good wholesome western that included all the required action and characters to make a GOOD western story come to life. I'll read more by this author if I can figure out the names.

I liked it! It felt like I was reading an old time western. There is the twist of a land deal with a cowboy and a lady that teaches school. There is the villain in the form of the robbers. The Texas Rangers are the law man. And the ending wraps it all up into a good finish. I do like the old type of western and this one caught my attention and held it.
