Give It Back by Danielle Esplin is an exciting debut novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The story is a psychological thriller that follows two former college roommates as they reunite after several years and become embroiled in a dangerous game of revenge and manipulation.

One of the strengths of this novel is the author's ability to build tension and suspense. The pacing is excellent, with each chapter ending on a cliffhanger that makes it difficult to put the book down. The plot is full of twists and turns, and the reader is never quite sure who to trust.

However, it is worth noting that the characters in this novel are mostly unlikeable. They are flawed, which may be a turnoff for some readers who need to root for their protagonists. That being said, the characters are well-developed and realistic, and their flaws are part of what makes the story so compelling.

It is also worth noting that the less you know going into this novel, the better. The story is full of surprises and revelations, and it is best to go in with an open mind and let the story unfold organically.

Overall, Give It Back is an exciting and well-crafted debut novel that will appeal to fans of psychological thrillers. While the characters may not be entirely likeable, the author's ability to build tension and suspense more than makes up for it. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast-paced and twisty read that will keep them guessing until the very end.

I was instantly hooked on this book The story line is great and I picked up the book to read at every opportunity. The plot was revealed by three of the characters, going back in time. And it was done very well However, the ending left me feeling a little “what the hell”. I was prepared to highly recommend this book until the very end. Some of you may still enjoy it.
Many thanks to NetGalley for the ARC

I was so pleasantly surprised by this debut novel that I read it in a single day. If you've enjoyed books like Gone Girl or The Girl on the Train, you'll enjoy this thrilling read. The author successfully shifts between three different POVs and numerous timelines, taking you on a roller coaster ride that keeps you guessing until the end. An impressive first novel by a promising author.

I couldn’t get into this book for anything. I don’t usually give up on books bit I was bored from the start and was hoping I would get interested.... just didn’t happen for me.

The plot was compelling with lots of twists and turns. There are quite a few characters in the book and the story is told by the main characters. There is a timeline involved which flashes back and forth and I found myself doing this having to look back and forth to stay in touch with the story.

Thanks to Netgalley and Black Rose Writing for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ella travels from San Diego to visit her sister, Lorraine, who is suffering from brain cancer. Lorraine is a divorced mom who has an au pair, Lexy, who is helping her care for her 16 year old son, Logan and new baby, Sam. Upon arrival, Ella finds out Lorraine is in the hospital and meanwhile Logan and Lexy are missing. The story is told from the perspectives of the 3 woman both after the disappearance and in the months leading up to the disappearance.

I really enjoyed this book and I was surprised it was a first novel because I thought it was really well written. Once I picked it up I had a hard time putting it down and finished it in a day. I thought the story really flowed well and there was never a time when I got bored. I was totally engaged and wanted to know what was going on with these people. I would definitely read more from this author.

I really couldn’t believe this was a debut novel, simply because it was really just that good! I found that the characters emotions and their actions really felt so real which added to the story. Overall I definitely enjoyed this one.

I was not expecting the ending that it did, it makes a change not to be able to predict the ending unlike so many other books.I found it a compelling read and didn't want to put it down.

My favorite genre - domestic/psychological thriller - with unreliable narrators. And this one has three of them, all dislikable flawed women.. This genre works best with short, snappy chapters. Easily flowing narratives, that never falter as they rush through your consciousness, allowing you to multitask while stroking the cat, eating a snack and turning the pages. While I enjoyed the story I became increasingly irritated by the use of some words in the narratives, almost as if the author was over-reaching and looking for obscure adjectives that make you stop munching and needing to reread the sentence. Other than that, recommended for all readers of the genre.

Finally a good book! Yes, this one was a good read. I liked the writing style, the characters, and even the way the story was told: past and present.

Because of the Coronavirus I stay at home all day which game the chance to read this book in one day. I couldn’t put it down! And not because the plot was out of this world but because I enjoyed the writing and how the story developed.

I didn’t expect the final twist (although I usually don’t read trying to figure out who did it but to enjoy the book and whatever happens, happens); but I did had a suspect in mind.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this title.

Well, I love the cover. I love the promised storyline, however, it failed to deliver. The characters were confusing, it was hard to tell who was who, and the writing was stunted, it didn't flow. Maybe it just needs a new editing eye?

This is a difficult book to review as I struggled to get past the odd blend ( or not);of language. From the very blunt and course to the extremely fancy vocabulary. It may have worked better for me if it had been written in the third person so that I didn’t keep trying to reconcile the language with the character because this was impossible to do.
The plot seemed good but the ending was so odd.
