I liked the mystery story (though the pieces don't all come together as they should), but I found myself consistently annoyed by books ageism --reflected in the author's main character. Ronnie is a very old 50-something. She's thrilled to have a buff friend and mentor in his 30s. Seriously, this is her focus? She comments on having "older" friends. She's computer-illiterate so she needs a cop to tell her that she can search online for info. And she's phone illiterate, so she needs her niece to explain apps to her. It's annoying, and it's ageist, and it ultimately detracted from my enjoyment of what otherwise would be a lovely quick read.

This is a well written book that will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. This is a clean book with a mystery to solve. I loved Warrior, what a dog! This is the first book I've read by this author, now I want to go back and read the rest of the books. in this series. Thank you BooksGoSocial via NetGalley for the complimentary copy of this book. Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the eARC.
Ronnie Lake is a 50-something PI who works cases along with her beloved German shepherd, Warrior, is a relatable character, feisty and empathetic. I love Warrior, what a terrific dog!
Her latest case is that of a missing college student, whose best friend and roommate has called Ronnie in a panic after the girl went on a date and never returned.
This book is a cozy read, no gruesome details or swearing, although I didn't find the mystery itself absorbing. I mildly enjoyed the read, but think many readers who like cozies would enjoy this.

Ronnie Lake, a Private Investigator, is requested to look into the disappearance of a young college student. She went out on a date and neither she nor her date have been heard from again.

Ronnie asks why the police haven't done more to locate this woman. First the police say she's probably run away with the boyfriend. But her college roommate insists this was a casual date ... it wasn't serious.

Then it comes out that the police have been ordered to stay away from this case ... but they haven't been told why.

When Ronnie continues her investigation she gets a little unexpected help from the police .. but can she trust them?

And then they find the car submerged in water with a body in the trunk ...........

This is a well-written mystery with an evenly balanced plot between mystery and crime. The character of Ronnie Lake is rather unique. She's over 50 ...someone I can identify with .... with a kick-ass attitude. Ronnie is a black belt and can certainly take care of herself. She's reinvented herself and she's done it well. Her companion ...Warrior ... is a German Shepherd who rarely stays home when Ronnie is out and about. Ronnie is well liked and respected by her community.

Although 4th in the series, this one is easily read as a stand alone. I do recommend starting at the beginning, not only for the story telling, but to watch the recurring characters grow and mature along the way.

Many thanks to the author / BooksGoSocial / Netgalley for the digital copy of this Mystery. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
